As Jon Stewart readies himself to return to The Daily Show, the comedian, entertainment news host, and activist wants to open up about why Apple TV+ canceled his show, The Problem With Jon Stweart, ahead of election season. Speaking with CBS Mornings, Stewart says Apple ended his series after two seasons out of fear he’d say something that would land him in trouble. While Stewart is used to being a target of judgment and ridicule, Apple TV+ hopes to keep their noses clean and free from backlash, especially with a heated political battle looming on the horizon.
“I wanted a place to unload thoughts as we get into this election season,” Stewart said. “I thought I was going to do it over at — they call it Apple TV+. It’s a television enclave, very small. It’s like living in Malibu. But they decided … they felt that they didn’t want me to say things that might get me in trouble.”
Thankfully, Stewart returns to The Daily Show for a once-a-week hosting spot during the forthcoming presidential election. Stewart returns to the late-night comedy program 25 years after first sitting behind the desk to deliver news with a comedic twist to countless fans. Stewart left The Daily Show eight years ago. Trevor Noah filled the void left by Stewart, enjoying another successful run as the bearer of outrageous news.
In addition to Stewart’s return, a rotating chair of the show’s correspondents will also host. The lineup of guest hosts includes Desi Lydic, Michael Kosta, Ronny Chieng, and Jordan Klepper. Stewart is responsible for hosting Monday nights, with correspondents picking up the torch for other days in the schedule. Stewart’s anticipated return begins on February 12.
Stewart says he aims to provide The Daily Show viewers with a “catharsis” as tempers flare, misinformation runs rampant, and people worry about the future of the United States of America. He sees The Daily Show platform as a “way to comment on things and a way to express them that hopefully people will enjoy.”

Duckie may have had it out for Blane, but the feud extended behind the scenes as well, as Jon Cryer and Andrew McCarthy did not jive while making teen movie classic Pretty in Pink. Now, Cryer says that has all settled…but who gets to go home with Andie?
Appearing on The View (per Entertainment Weekly), Jon Cryer said of Andrew McCarthy, “He and I famously did not get along when we were shooting Pretty in Pink…It was because there was tension. Interestingly, I saw him backstage and we had a lovely time, we had a great talk. Thank you!”
Cryer went on to detail why he and McCarthy didn’t get along during Pretty in Pink, citing issues that were far deeper that what we see onscreen. “At any rate, what I realize now, he wrote a terrific memoir called Brat, he was already struggling with alcoholism back when we were shooting that movie. I’d projected all this stuff on him at the time, I thought he’s this sullen guy that doesn’t want to talk to me. We’re enemies [as characters] on the movie, but that doesn’t mean we can’t be friends…But we just had no rapport whatsoever at the time. I found out later he was going through some tough stuff. That was such a lesson for me, it’s all about projection. You never know.”
Jon Cryer has been open about his time making Pretty in Pink plenty of times, recently explaining just how much Duckie remains close to who he strives to be. Yet, while Pretty in Pink remains an essential of the Brat Pack movie lineup, Cryer isn’t officially a member of the group, having only appeared in that entry (although No Small Affair does dance around the canon). However, Andrew McCarthy is, having starred in not just that Howard Deutch movie (John Hughes only wrote it, although we wouldn’t blame you for thinking he directed it) but also St. Elmo’s Fire and Class. McCarthy even has a documentary on the group, titled Brats, headed to Hulu later this year.

A couple months ago, we heard a rumor that a team of supernatural characters known as the Midnight Sons might be coming to the Marvel Cinematic Universe… and now Oscar Isaac has let it be known that if a Midnight Sons project were to happen, he wants his MCU character Moon Knight to be part of it!
As I’ve said before, one of my favorite comic book story arcs is the “Rise of the Midnight Sons”, where Doctor Strange oversaw the formation of a team of supernatural heroes – Ghost Rider, Johnny Blaze, Morbius, the Nightstalkers (Blade, Hannibal King, and Frank Drake), and Darkhold characters Vicki Montesi, Louise Hastings, and Sam Buchanan – who were brought together to battle Lilith, the Mother of All Demons, and her evil offspring, the Lilin. There have been different variations of the Midnight Sons over the years, with other team members like Daimon Hellstrom, Jennifer Kale, Werewolf by Night, Man-Thing, The Hood, Doctor Voodoo, Elsa Bloodstone, Iron Fist, Scarlet Spider, Kushala, Magik, Wolverine, Nico Minoru, and yes, Moon Knight coming and going. The latest version of the team was even called the Midnight Suns rather than Sons. The rumor of such a team came from Cosmic Circus, who said, “One corner of the MCU that Marvel is keen on exploring for these next few phases is the supernatural corner of their universe. Projects like Moon Knight, Werewolf by Night, and WandaVision have already introduced some critical components for this corner of the MCU. Projects that will continue to explore this corner of the MCU include Blade, Ironheart, Marvel Zombies, Moon Knight season 2, the continuation of Werewolf by Night, and other unannounced projects. This arc aims to unite the heroes of this supernatural corner against a significant threat to humanity, giving rise to the Midnight Sons. Some sources have mentioned that Lilith or Mephisto villains have been considered the big bad of this arc. One source has mentioned that the potential lineup for the Midnight Sons features the current Sorcerer Supreme, Wong, as one of the leaders of the team, alongside Mahershala Ali’s Blade.”
We keep hearing that Mia Goth’s character in the upcoming Blade movie might be Lilith, so that’s a big step into the Midnight Sons world.
During an appearance at the Middle East Film and Comic Con event in Abu Dhabi, Isaac was asked what his hopes are for Moon Knight’s MCU future, and he answered (with thanks to The Direct for the transcript), “I thought there was an interesting opportunity with Midnight Sons. There’s such interesting characters in there, and now that we’ve set the groundwork with learning who (Moon Knight’s multiple personalities) Marc, Steven, Jake are, it could be an interesting opportunity to see him as part of a team and what that dynamic would be. So I think that would be exciting, I think for me, I definitely hope there’s some room to explore that possibility.” You can see Isaac say this himself in the X embed at the bottom of this article.
