A documentary covering the 1993 Friday the 13th sequel Jason Goes to Hell: The Final Friday (WATCH IT HERE – OWN IT HERE) has been in the works for quite a while, and about eight months ago Jason Goes to Hell director Adam Marcus took to social media to give a promising update on its progress, saying that it was about to go through the color timing and sound mixing stages of post-production. It has been longer than expected, but now Marcus has given another update, letting fans know that the color timing and sound mixing are finally happening this month.
Before the week began, Marcus wrote, “The doc just went through legal and has been approved. Which means we are officially LOCKED! This means the film is completed from an editing stage and we’ve taken all the steps to ensure that the film meets all the standards to be released. The strike slowed us down in these efforts, but it got done! April 15th we’re in the sound mixing stage to complete the sound mix. I will personally go live from the sound mix so you all can get a sneak peek at that part of what we’re doing. One week later, the color timing begins, and our final end credits will be compiled and completed. And once that’s done… well… that means… WE’LL BE OFFICIALLY DONE WITH THE MAKING OF THE FILM! The movie will be on its way to festivals and distribution thereafter.“
He added that the finished documentary, which is titled Hearts of Darkness: The Making of the Final Friday, is “almost 2 hours long.” The Blu-ray edition will feature “another 2 hours of goodness that we could not fit in a theatrical feature film! Oh yeah! We’ve got 13 mini-docs on the insanely STACKED Blu-ray. Tons of stories that only lovers of physical media will be getting in one package!“
Marcus will be at NJ Horrorcon this weekend, from the 19th through 21st, and teased that he might be showing 10 minutes of documentary footage there.
Directed by Marcus from a screenplay by Dean Lorey and Jay Huguely (who also gets story credit with Marcus), Jason Goes to Hell has the following synopsis: After being blown away by a team of FBI agents, Jason Voorhees needs to find a way to overcome certain death. When his bloodied remains are sent to the morgue, his heart, still intact, is able to hypnotize a coroner and take over his body. After brutally dispatching a couple of FBI agents, he heads back to his favorite stomping grounds: Crystal Lake. Jason commences another teen massacre while a bounty hunter discovers the only way to kill him.
The film stars John D. LeMay, Kari Keegan, Steven Culp, Erin Gray, Rusty Schwimmer, Leslie Jordan, Richard Gant, Billy Green Bush, Kipp Marcus, Andrew Bloch, Adam Cranner, Allison Smith, Michelle Clunie, Michael B. Silver, Kathryn Atwood, and Julie Michaels, with Steven Williams as badass bounty hunter Creighton Duke and Kane Hodder playing Jason Voorhees for the third time.

Find a place to display your beaver prominently and order some TITAN condoms from Amazon because Pamela Anderson is joining Liam Neeson for The Naked Gun reboot. While today’s Deadline article fails to mention who Anderson is playing, we assume she’ll play the romantic lead opposite Neeson’s Frank Drebin Jr. Lisa Marie Presley played the love interest of Leslie Nielsen’s Lt. Frank Drebin in the original comedy film, resulting in some unforgettable and hilarious moments and sight gags.
After filming 110 episodes of the jiggly action TV series Baywatch, Pamela Anderson is no stranger to comedy. In addition to running in slow motion alongside David Hasselhoff, Yasmine Bleeth, Jeremy Jackson, and more, Anderson starred in Scary Movie 3 and Superhero Movie. The Naked Gun reboot carries a lot of pressure from fans of the Leslie Nielsen-led trilogy, but I’ve got a great feeling about this inspired casting choice.
Akiva Schaffer directs and executive produces The Naked Gun reboot, which will be released on July 18, 2025.
While speaking with THR, Liam Neeson was asked why he wanted to tackle a flat-out comedy such as The Naked Gun.
“It’s funny because right before Christmas, my sons and I were looking through the Academy screeners and trying to find something silly, some silly, stupid movie that we could giggle at,” Neeson explained. “There was none, of course, as they were all very heavy and international. I mean, brilliant movies but all very heavy. When Seth MacFarlane approached me about it — this was about two years ago, now — I thought, yeah, I guess I could do that as long as I play it dead seriously and not try and imitate Mr. Leslie Nielsen. He was wonderful. Akiva Schaffer is directing it and he’s from the [Saturday Night Live] world. I’m looking forward to it. It’s a good script, and there’s a few laugh out loud moments in it.”
What do you think about Pamela Anderson joining the cast of The Naked Gun reboot? How will her character differ from Presley’s Jane? How does she like her roast? We’ll find out when The Naked Gun reboot comes to theaters next year.

Stunt double / stunt coordinator Zoe Bell – who has also built up a solid acting career over the years, including a prominent and memorable role (as herself) in Quentin Tarantino’s Grindhouse movie Death Proof – is set to make her feature directorial debut with the rock-climbing thriller Free Fall, and Variety reports that Zachary Levi of the Shazam movies and the TV series Chuck is on board to star in the film.
Scripted by Sean Finegan and Gregg Maxwell Parker, Free Fall will tell the story of a father’s attempt to reconcile with his estranged daughter on a rock-climbing trip that turns deadly as an accident leaves them stranded hundreds of feet in the air. Production is set to take place in New Zealand later this year.
Tom Hern and Nua Finau of Tavake are producing the film, with Levi and the screenwriters serving as executive producers alongside Navid McIlhargey and Erik Olsen.
Bell provided the following statement: “This script is the perfect combo of heartfelt and heart-stopping. Between the producing team, the cast and the New Zealand crews, words don’t do justice to how thrilled I am to be bringing this film home.“
McIlhargey and Olsen added: “We’re very excited to embark on this film with so many longtime friends. Sean wrote the script after working with us as an executive on the Warner Bros. lot. And that’s where we met Zac while he was shooting Chuck on Stage 4 and befriended Zoe after seeing her brilliant stunt work in Kill Bill.“
And Hern and Finau had this to say: “We are stoked to be teaming up with the guys at XYZ again to help bring Zoe Bell’s feature debut to the world. Zoe’s an incredible talent and an iconic Kiwi. The script sets the table not only for her renowned action direction chops, but also plenty of heart and humanity.“
Thrills and high altitudes are always a good mix, and I’m interested in watching a feature film directed by Zoe Bell, so I look forward to seeing how Free Fall is going to turn out.
