Lionsgate and Stern Pinball invite pinball wizards to get fitted for a bulletproof suit before entering the lethal underground world of assassins for a new game experience based on the ultra-popular John Wick franchise. In the John Wick Pinball game, players will experience the thrilling and action-packed billion-dollar grossing John Wick franchise with film-inspired mechanical features and artwork alongside Stern’s all-new dynamic AI combat system. Like many of Stern’s incredible pinball machines, the John Wick Pinball experience comes in three varieties: Pro, Premium, and Limited Edition (LE) models.

John Wick Pinball, pinball, Stern Pinball, John Wick

The following comes from the official press release for Stern Pinball’s John Wick Pinball game collection:

In Stern’s John Wick pinball games, players become the world’s greatest assassin as he fights to escape his past. As the titular character, players can engage in high-speed car chases and fast-action drifting across the playfield, which incorporates models and artwork inspired by iconic locations from the franchise, including the New York Continental Hotel and the Red Circle Club, all set against a dramatically edge lit New York City skyline. Players can also open John Wick’s weapons crate to reveal a hidden shot target path to retrieve an array of weapons. Players must use the sculpted Blood Oath Marker carefully – or risk the consequences. Players must survive other assassins, complete jobs for the legendary Factions of the High Table, and eventually take on John Wick’s “Special Assignment!”

To raise the stakes, John Wick pinball introduces Stern’s all-new dynamic AI combat system, an innovation that brings the frenetic combat of the legendary films to the game. The Stern team has created a primitive video game AI system to control the enemy lights on the playfield, setting the John Wick pinball games apart from prior pinball machines, where player actions, timers, and random number generations controlled all lights. In this new AI combat system, enemy icons are responsive to player behavior and will illuminate dynamically around the playfield to challenge the player. The enemies move tactically with this dynamic software to counter player objectives, creating a unique challenge in each game session. The system also features a new action video player that dynamically reflects player action. As you defeat three enemies, you’ll see video clips of John Wick doing the same in the films!

Accompanying the high-quality film and audio assets woven into the gameplay, John Wick pinball games will include custom narration by critically acclaimed actor Ian McShane as Winston and an original score composed by Charlie Benante of Anthrax and Pantera fame. Additionally, pieces of John Wick’s iconic suits used in connection with the production of the films will be included as a franchise artifact in the LE models, courtesy of Lionsgate. The John Wick pinball games will feature original neo-noir style paintings illustrated by acclaimed artist, Randy Martinez.

Stern’s John Wick Pinball machines are limited to 1000 global units, with each addition featuring unique assets and effects. You’ll need to pry open some floorboards and dig into your private stash for enough cash to own one of these machines.

The Pro Edition costs $6,999, the Premium Edition will cost you $9,699, and the Limited Edition runs $12,999! Stern’s pinball machines are worth every penny if you ask me, and a machine inspired by John Wick is the perfect addition to any gamer’s collection.

Are you excited about playing the Stern Pinball’s John Wick Pinball machine? Do you think Keanu Reeves in any good at pinball? Will Stern send him a complimentary machine? Let us know what you think in the comments section below.

jack o connell, 28 years later

Fans of 28 Days Later are eating good after the announcement that Danny Boyle and Alex Garland are reuniting to work on a continuation of their popular zombie film. We are covering the ongoing added details of information in the development of this sequel in the 28 Years Later: Everything We Know article. The biggest revelation is the news that the upcoming sequel will actually be a trilogy of films. Both Garland and Boyle confirmed their collaboration. Garland said, “A few years ago an idea materialized in my head for what would be really 28 Years Later. Danny always liked the idea.“ Boyle added, “So we’re talking about it quite seriously, quite diligently. If he doesn’t want to direct it himself I’ll be well up for it if we can execute a similarly good idea.“

Deadline is now reporting that Jack O’Connell will be joining the cast of the trilogy. He will be among actors such as Jodie Comer, Aaron Taylor-Johnson and Ralph Fiennes. The role that O’Connell has been cast in has not been revealed. However, it has been conveyed by sources that he will be in a supporting role in the first film, then will play more of a lead in the following entry. O’Connell has been on a great streak of casting, as he was also reported to be cast as a villain in the secret Ryan Coogler and Michael B. Jordan genre project, which is also rumored to have horror elements in it.

Alex Garland is expected to write the scripts for all three of the 28 Years Later movies, but apparently didn’t want to direct them. Danny Boyle will only be directing the first one. For the second film, possibly titled 28 Years Later Part 2, he’ll be passing the helm over to The Marvels and Candyman director Nia DaCosta. Production on DaCosta’s sequel will begin immediately after Boyle wraps filming on his. They wanted to have the sequel director signed on before filming on the first movie begins, as they want to “make sure each director is on the same page in regard to the story while also having time to bring their own vision to life.”

According to The Hollywood Reporter, “Each movie will have a budget in the $60 million range but it’s unclear how goalposts or compensation may have changed during the high-stakes negotiations. A theatrical release was of great import to the filmmakers.” Sony had an edge in this race due to the fact that it’s headed up by Tom Rothman, who used to be at Fox and worked with Boyle on eight different movies there. Release dates have not yet been announced.

Boyle and Garland are producing 28 Years Later. Bernie Bellew is also producing, as are original producer Andrew Macdonald, and Peter Rice, who was the head of Fox Searchlight Pictures when that company backed 28 Days Later. As mentioned, Murphy is executive producing.

47 meters down, the wreck

It’s impressive that despite the massive success of Jaws making its bite mark on pop culture back in 1975, many movies have unapologetically attempted to follow in its footsteps to this very day. One of those films is the 2017 movie 47 Meters Down, which spawned a sequel in 2019, 47 Meters Down: Uncaged. A third movie in the series is now set to swim ashore as 47 Meters Down: The Wreck will be launching its sales campaign at the Cannes Market. Johannes Roberts and screenwriter Ernest Riera return to co-write this new installment, which will be directed by veteran horror director Patrick Lussier, whose credits include My Bloody Valentine.

The plot synopsis for the third entry, per Deadline, reads,
“The story will follow a father who is determined to rebuild his relationship with his daughter as they bond during a scuba dive in beautiful tropical waters while exploring a famous shipwreck. But soon after their descent, their master diver has an accident leaving them alone and unprotected inside the labyrinth of the wreck. As tensions rise and oxygen dwindles, the pair must use their newfound bond to escape the wreck and the relentless barrage of bloodthirsty great white sharks.”

The former director of the first two, Johannes Roberts, says this third one will be the “biggest” in the franchise. Filming on The Wreck is planning to commence in the fall and the casting process is currently moving forward. Byron Allen’s Allen Media Group Motion Pictures (AMGMP) and James Harris and Mark Lane’s Tea Shop Productions are behind the threequel. Producers are James Harris, Mark Lane, and Johannes Roberts. Executive producers are Byron Allen, Carolyn Folks, Jennifer Lucas, Chris Charalambous and Matthew Signer. Allen had released the previous two movies in the U.S. However, a domestic buyer has yet to be set on the third film. The fins will be circling at Cannes.

The first film made our Best Shark Movies Ever Made list, where we said, “So not only are you being hunted by a man-eating shark, but you’re also trapped on the ocean floor? Sounds like a nightmare. This is precisely what happens to the two sisters as they go on vacation. They decide to do a cage diving excursion in shark-infested waters, but the cable holding onto the cage snaps. As they settle onto the bottom of the ocean, they see that sharks are starting to appear. Now they only have one hour of air left and can’t leave the cage as the sharks try to wait them out. Can you imagine cage diving and seeing a megalodon just show up like in The Meg 2?”

Dwayne Johnson is hitting his mobile gym harder than ever as he trains to play MMA pioneer and UFC champ Mark Kerr in Benny Safdie’s upcoming film for A24The Smashing Machine. The Hollywood heavyweight sweats more than Luke Hobbs in the Fast and Furious franchise in a new video posted to social media, in which Johnson details his intense regimen for the upcoming role. I’m exhausted from watching the video, and I can’t imagine how Johnson feels after hitting the iron enough to transform himself into a puddle of perspiration and charisma.

In the video, Johnson says this is his second training camp after a 12-week training for Wrestlemania. He took ten days off before jumping back into the gym to get swole and familiarize himself with a new fighting form. Combat sports and MMA are new for Johnson, who says he’s living in a whole new world after seeing how fighters on the other side of the fence execute their skills. Before giving the details about his extensive workout routine, Johnson pays respects to the men and women who helped put MMA on the map.

Alongside the workout video, Johnson shared a gallery of photos featuring his hands-on training for the upcoming film. In the images, The Rock looks like he could punch his trainer through a brick wall as he wrestles and grapples with the new fighting style.

In addition to his directorial duties, Safdie co-wrote the script, which focused on Kerr’s struggle with addiction, victory, love, and friendship in the year 2000. Likely to veer into more severe territory, The Smashing Machine gives Johnson a rare opportunity to flex his drama muscles for cameras. While some could be confused about what that looks like, Safdie is known for bringing the best out of his film stars.

Kerr is a former American wrestler and mixed martial artist. As a two-time UFC Heavyweight Tournament Champion, World Vale Tudo Championship tournament winner, a PRIDE FC Heavyweight Champion, 1992 NCAA National Wrestling Champion, 1994 National Freestyle Champion, and 4x ADCC World Submission Champion, Kerr is one of the biggest badasses to ever get into the ring.

“Dwayne and Benny are singular talents, and their shared vision for Mark’s inspiring story is electrifying,” said Noah Sacco of A24. “We are deeply honored to have their trust as collaborators in bringing this incredibly special project to life.”

Are you looking forward to seeing Dwayne Johnson play Mark Kerr for Benny Safdie’s The Smashing Machine? What do you think about Johnson’s extensive workout routine? How long do you think you could last against him in the ring? I’m going to say negative zero seconds for myself.

Peter Farrelly is ready to eat lightning and crap thunder for a unique project focusing on Sylvester Stallone’s beloved Rocky franchise. I Play Rocky finds Farrelly directing a film about Stallone’s journey to play the Italian Stallion on the silver screen. Toby Emmerich is producing, with Peter Gamble penning the script.

Here’s the official blurb for I Play Rocky:

A struggling actor with a partially paralyzed face and a speech impediment writes a script that a big movie studio wants to buy, but he refuses to sell it unless he gets to play the lead.  Turning down an offer of life-changing money, he instead works for pennies to get the movie made with himself in the starring role.  The movie becomes the biggest box office hit of 1976, notching ten Oscar nominations and winning Best Picture. The true story of the making of the iconic movie Rocky.
