Warframe feels like it has been around forever. And yet despite being 11 years into its run as a live-service game, it still has a thriving fanbase, thanks to a crucial combination of community goodwill and a game that’s legitimately fun to play and is always getting cool, new stuff. But for those considering jumping…

Jodie Comer (Killing Eve, The Bikeriders, The End We Start From) is heading toward disturbing events after signing on to her latest film project with Kenneth Branagh, The Last Disturbance of Madeline Hynde. Branagh wrote and will direct the new film. Plot details are scarce, but Deadline’s exclusive report says The Last Disturbance of Madeline Hynde is a contemporary psychological thriller, with production kicking off in August in the UK.
Belfast producers Tamar Thomas, Laura Berwick, Becca Kovacik, Matthew Jenkins, Maximum Effort’s Ashley Fox, and Johnny Pariseau will join Branagh for the new film.
As Deadline points out, Comer’s signing onto the project is a significant boon for Branagh’s latest yarn. She’s an extraordinarily busy actress, so something about Branagh’s project must have caught her attention. After wrapping Killing Eve, Comer joined the cast of the Jeff Nichols crime drama The Bikeriders. Comer plays Kathy in the upcoming film, which also stars Austin Butler, Tom Hardy, Michael Shannon, Boyd Holbrook, and more.
The Bikeriders is a furious drama following the rise of a fictional 1960s Midwestern motorcycle club through the lives of its members. Inspired by Danny Lyon’s iconic book, The Bikeriders immerses you in the look, feel, and sounds of the bare-knuckled, grease-covered subculture of ’60s motorcycle riders. Kathy (Comer), a strong-willed member of the Vandals who’s married to a wild, reckless bike rider named Benny (Butler), recounts the Vandals’ evolution over a decade, beginning as a local club of outsiders united by good times, rumbling bikes, and respect for their strong, steady leader Johnny (Hardy). Over the years, Kathy tries her best to navigate her husband’s untamed nature and his allegiance to Johnny, with whom she feels she must compete for Benny’s attention. As life in the Vandals gets more dangerous, and the club threatens to become a more sinister gang, Kathy, Benny, and Johnny are forced to make choices about their loyalty to the club and each other.
Early buzz for The Bikeriders is ultra-positive, with the film earning an 85% Fresh score on Rotten Tomatoes after its world premiere at Telluride. Amidst plumes of dust and the smell of gasoline, Jeff Nichols (Mud, Midnight Special, Take Shelter)directs from a script he wrote inspired by the Danny Lyon book of photography.
Kenneth Branagh’s last two films, Death on the Nile and A Haunting in Venice, continue the filmmaker’s revival of Hercule Poirot, the Belgian detective created by world-famous novelist Agatha Christie. While The Last Disturbance of Madeline Hynde departs from Poirot, Branagh’s keen eye for mystery and thrillers continues in his latest project. I thoroughly enjoyed A Haunting in Venice and look forward to watching Branagh and Comer collaborate for another intense thriller. How about you?

People often criticize Hollywood for their reliance on IP, and this weekend, director John Krasinski, who successfully launched his own franchise with A Quiet Place, hopes to buck the trend by releasing his latest, IF, a big-budget family film starring Ryan Reynolds. The movie, whose title stands for “Imaginary Friend” was also written by Krasinski and boasts a who’s who of actors voicing the titular characters, including his former The Office co-star Steve Carell, wife Emily Blunt, and ultra-famous colleagues like George Clooney, Bradley Cooper, Jon Stewart, Phoebe Waller-Bridge, Matt Damon, and many more.
Given all that star power, the film seems likely to come in first at the box office this weekend, but the reviews (so far) have been largely unkind. The film wasn’t screened in many major markets (such as my own), so some of us will be hitting early screenings tomorrow night to file our reviews. Movies like this are tough to pull off, with the risk being that they’ll come off as treacle, or even worse, insincere, meaning a guy like Krasinski will have to walk a bit of a tightrope that’s perhaps tricker than what he had to accomplish with the more straightforward chills of A Quiet Place.
Despite a top-billed Ryan Reynolds, I think the movie will only open at $30 million. Family audiences are likely to be split between this and Kingdom of the Planet of the Apes, which should be a strong second with around $28 million (of course, there’s a narrow chance Apes could actually pull off a first-place finish, which would be a disaster from Krasinski’s movie). His A Quiet Place prequel will likely make a lot more money at the box office this summer.
Third place should go to the first movie in Renny Harlin’s The Strangers reboot trilogy, with the Lionsgate release likely to open in the $10 million range. While that’s soft for a horror film, the budget for these movies are relatively low, and if people like the first one, the subsequent instalments (which are already done) could make more.
Fourth place should go to The Fall Guy, which will likely make around $8 million, while the Amy Winehouse biopic Back to Black (which we didn’t like too much) should finish fifth with about $4 million.
Here are our predictions:
IF: $30 million
Kingdom of the Planet of the Apes: $28 million
The Strangers: Chapter 1: $10 million
The Fall Guy: $8 million
Back to Black: $4 million
What do you think will finish first this weekend? Let us know in the comments!
The cast of Marvel Studios’ Fantastic Four is growing by the day! After announcing the additions of John Malkovich, Julia Garner, Paul Walter Hauser, and Ralph Ineson, Deadline says Poker Face and Russian Doll star Natasha Lyonne is joining the latest iteration of Marvel’s first family. Fantastic Four stars Pedro Pascal as Reed Richards, Vanessa Kirby as Susan Storm-Richards, Ebon Moss-Bachrach as Ben Grimm, and Joseph Quinn as Johnny Storm. There is no indication if the Richards’ children, Valeria and Franklin, will appear in the film. The addition of Natasha Lyonne is already sending Fantastic Four fans into a tizzy with theories about who she could play in the film.
WandaVision director Matt Shakman is directing Fantastic Four from a script by Ric Pearson, Josh Friedman, Jeff Kaplan, and Ian Springer. Plot details are sparse, though we know Julia Garner is playing Shalla-Bal, a version of Silver Surfer from the comics. Rumors suggest Paul Walter Hauser is playing the subterranean villain Mole Man, but this is not confirmed. Ineson joins the cast as Galactus, the world-eating titan, with Malkovich’s role remaining a mystery.
I’m eager to learn who Natasha Lyonee plays in Fantastic Four. I’m waiting for a cast announcement that suggests Alicia Masters, Ben Grimm’s true love, will be in the movie, but nothing leaps out at me. I don’t think Lyonne fits the Alicia Masters mold, but I have no intimate knowledge of Marvel’s plans for Fantastic Four.
Before the Emmy-nominated Lyonne was blowing up awards season for Rian Johnson’s Poker Face, she played Vivian in Slums of Beverly Hills, Jessica in American Pie, Christine in Detroit Rock City, and most notably, Nicky Nichols in the Netflix prison drama Orange Is the New Black.
Production is slated to kick off this summer, and Shakman has teased that the movie will be unlike anything we’ve seen from Marvel so far. “It’s different in so many ways,” Shakman said. “I wish I could be specific. I wish I could say more. But we are doing things very differently from a story standpoint, from an approach to the filmmaking standpoint, that really fits the material. I wish I could say more. I would love to, but I can’t. But I think it’s going to be unlike anything you’ve seen before, and certainly unlike anything at Marvel that you’ve seen before.” Fantastic Four will hit theaters on July 25, 2025.
What do you think about Natasha Lyonne joining the cast of Marvel’s Fantastic Four?
