Severance stars Adam Scott as Mark Scout, who leads a team at Lumon Industries “whose employees have undergone a severance procedure, which surgically divides their memories between their work and personal lives. This daring experiment in ‘work-life balance’ is called into question as Mark finds himself at the center of an unraveling mystery that will force him to confront the true nature of his work… and of himself.

Silo stars Rebecca Ferguson and follows “the last 10,000 people on Earth as they navigate life in their mile-deep underground home protecting them from the toxic outside world. The catch? No one knows when or why the silo was built and anyone who goes snooping for answers faces fatal consequences.

Based on the New York Times bestselling novel of the same name, Presumed Innocent stars Jake Gyllenhaal as chief deputy prosecutor Rusty Sabich. When he’s suspected of a horrific crime, he fights to hold his family and marriage together as obsession, sex, politics, and the power and limits of love collide. The series will debut on Apple TV+ on June 12th.

Lady of the Lake stars Natalie Portman and Moses Ingram. The series takes place in Baltimore on Thanksgiving 1966 when the lives of two women converge on a fatal collision course. “Maddie Schwartz (Portman) is a Jewish housewife seeking to shed a secret past and reinvent herself as an investigative journalist, and Cleo Sherwood (Ingram) is a mother navigating the political underbelly of Black Baltimore while struggling to provide for her family.” The first two episodes will make their debut on Apple TV+ on July 19th.

Starring Gary Oldman, Slow Horses is a darkly humorous espionage drama that follows a dysfunctional team of British intelligence agents who serve in a dumping ground department of MI5 known un-affectionately as Slough House. Oldman plays Jackson Lamb, the brilliant but irascible leader of the spies, who end up in Slough House due to their career-ending mistakes as they frequently find themselves blundering around the smoke and mirrors of the espionage world.

Dark Matter follows Jason Dessen (Joel Edgerton), a physicist, professor, and family man who is abducted into an alternate version of his life one night while walking home on the streets of Chicago. Wonder quickly turns into a nightmare when he tries to return to his reality amid the mind-bending landscape of lives he could have lived. In this labyrinth of realities, he embarks on a harrowing journey to get back to his true family and save them from the most terrifying, unbeatable foe imaginable: himself.

Pachinko is a sweeping and deeply moving story of love and survival across four generations and will debut on the streaming service on August 23rd. Shrinking stars Jason Segal as grieving therapist Jimmy, who starts to break the rules and tell his clients exactly what he thinks. Ignoring his training and ethics, he finds himself making huge, tumultuous changes to people’s lives, including his own. Bad Monkey stars Vince Caughn as Andrew Yancy, a former member of the Miami Police Department who is now a health inspector in the Keys. But after stumbling upon a case that begins with a human arm fished up by tourists, he realizes that if he can prove murder, he’ll be back in.

As far as the feature films go, Fly Me to the Moon stars Scarlett Johansson and Channing Tatum and is “set against the high-stakes backdrop of NASA’s historic moon landing. Brought in to fix NASA’s public image, sparks fly in all directions as marketing wunderkind Kelly Jones wreaks havoc on launch director Cole Davis’s already difficult task. When the President deems the mission too important to fail, Jones is directed to stage a fake moon landing as back-up and the countdown truly begins…” The film will premiere on July 12th.

The Instigators stars Matt Damon and Casey Affleck Rory and Cobby, a desperate father and an ex-con “thrown together to rob a corrupt politician’s ill-gained earnings. But when the heist goes wrong, the two find themselves engulfed in a whirlwind of chaos, pursued not only by police but also by backward bureaucrats and vengeful crime bosses. Completely out of their depth, they convince Rory’s therapist (Hong Chau) to join their riotous getaway through the city, where they must put aside their differences and work together to evade capture — or worse.” The film will be released on August 6th.

Finally, we’ve got Wolfs, a new thriller which reunites George Clooney and Brad Pitt as professional fixers who are forced to work together when they’re both called in to dispose of a body but quickly find their night spiralling out of control in ways that neither one of them expected. It will debut in theaters on September 20th.

Wheel of Fortune

Pat Sajak has spun his last wheel, ending his 40+-year run as host of Wheel of Fortune this past week. But as they say, the game show must go on and after a summer hiatus, Ryan Seacrest will be taking over the much-loved television spin on hangman.

Following Pat Sajak’s final episode as Wheel of Fortune host, Ryan Seacrest posted the following message on Instagram: “Pat, congratulations on an incredible run with Wheel of Fortune! Your dedication, charm, and wit have made the show a beloved part of American television for decades. Your partnership with Vanna has been nothing short of iconic, and together, you’ve created countless wonderful memories for viewers. You’ve set the standard for hosts everywhere, and this marks the end of an era. Best wishes for all your future endeavors!” Seacrest will take over the role in September, bringing the show into its 42nd season.

Some were skeptical of the choice of Ryan Seacrest as Wheel of Fortune host, saying it was too easy, that the personality is overexposed and that somebody else should have been given a shot. Many even declared that longtime Sajak co-host Vanna White had rightfully earned the spot. But considering Seacrest is about 15 years older than Sajak was when he first took over for Chuck Woolery, those who dislike Seacrest won’t have nearly as much TV time with him…if they even tune in at all.

On his final episode of Wheel of Fortune, Pat Sajak expressed his gratitude for the show and noted just why it has lasted so long. “I’ve always felt that the privilege came with a responsibility to keep this daily half hour a safe place for family fun. No social issues, no politics, nothing embarrassing, I hope. Just a game. But gradually it became more than that: a place where kids learn their letters, where people from other countries hone their English skills, where families came together along with friends and neighbors and entire generations. What an honor to have played even a small part in all that. Thank you for allowing me into your lives.”

How do you think Ryan Seacrest will do as Wheel of Fortune host? Who might have been a better choice? Let us know below.

Saw XI

As soon as Saw X, the tenth entry in the Saw franchise (you can read our review HERE), was released last September, franchise producers Mark Burg and Oren Koules were already talking about the potential of a Saw XI. The official announcement came in December, along with a release date: September 27th… but they’ve decided to take a little extra time with this one, so a couple months ago it was announced that Saw XI won’t be reaching theatres until September 26, 2025. The script is still in the works, though, and now we know the name of at least one person behind it: Marcus Dunstan, who says this is going to be an “angry” film.

Saw X screenwriters Pete Goldfinger and Josh Stolberg, who also wrote Jigsaw and Spiral: From the Book of Saw, let it be known a while back that they’re not returning for the new sequel – but the producers didn’t have to look far to find a replacement. Marcus Dunstan and co-writer Patrick Melton previously wrote Saw parts 4 through 7 (with Thomas Fenton also getting a story credit on Saw IV). Dunstan confirmed to Screen Rant that he’s writing Saw XI, and chances are that if he’s writing it, Melton is writing it with him.

Dunstan told Screen Rant, “We’re writing XI right now, and Kevin Greutert is returning to direct. That’s been since December, and that’s one where it’s got something new to say, and it’s angry.

As Dunstan said, Saw X director Kevin Greutert will be back at the helm for Saw XI. Greutert edited the first five Saw movies, and did the same on Jigsaw. He made his feature directorial debut with Saw VI and signed on to direct Paranormal Activity 2 after that. That movie was scheduled to be released on the same day as the seventh Saw movie, Saw 3D – so Lionsgate decided to remove Saw V director David Hackl from Saw 3D and replace him with Greutert, stealing him away from Paramount and Paranormal Activity 2. The Paranormal sequel ended up being directed by Tod Williams and was released the week before Saw 3D. Between Saw 3D and Saw X, Greutert directed the genre films JessabelleVisions, and Jackals.

Leigh Whannell wrote the first three films, sharing story credit with James Wan on the first and third and screenplay credit with Darren Lynn Bousman on the second. As mentioned, Dunstan and Melton wrote the next four movies in the series, then we reached the Goldfinger/Stolberg era… and now it appears that Dunstan/Melton are back.

The Dunstan-directed slasher #AMFAD: All My Friends Are Dead just had its world premiere at the Tribeca Film Festival this past weekend and is set for an August 2nd theatrical, digital, and VOD release.

Oliver Jackson-Cohen

Sam Yates (Magpie) is directing the series, while Bel Ami screenwriter Rachel Bennette wrote the adaptation.

Set in 1936 England, Towards Zero has the following synopsis: After a scandalous celebrity divorce, British tennis star Nevile Strange (Jackson-Cohen) and his ex-wife, Audrey (Hyland), make the unthinkable decision to spend a summer together at Gull’s Point, their childhood home and the coastal estate of Nevile’s aunt (Huston). With unfinished business between the former childhood sweethearts and the presence of Nevile’s new wife, Kay (Keene), tensions run high. A troubled detective is tasked with untangling a toxic web of jealousy, deceit and dysfunction before another victim meets their death. The cast is said to form “a house party of enemies.”

Huston provided the following statement: “I have long been a fan of Agatha Christie and the murder-mystery genre and always love the opportunity to film in England. I am thrilled to be working with director Sam Yates and this wonderful cast, and excited to play the clever and dignified Camilla, Lady Tressilian.

James Prichard, who is executive producing Towards Zero for Agatha Christie Ltd., had this to say about the project: “This is a very special production. Rachel has done an extraordinary job on making my great-grandmother’s story even more dramatic, intense, and troubling. Add in a cast of this caliber and viewers are in for a real treat.

Towards Zero will air on BBC iPlayer and BBC One. In the US and Canada, it will be available to watch on the BritBox International streaming service.
