Is it July 26 yet? The anticipation for Deadpool & Wolverine is so thick you can’t cut it with adamantium claws! Fans have been dreaming of a proper Wade Wilson and Wolverine crossover for years after the disappointment of X-Men Origins: Wolverine. Whoever thought silencing Deadpool was a good idea should have their head examined. But I digress. A batch of new Deadpool & Wolverine posters are making the rounds, highlighting the upcoming film’s premiere screening formats and getting fans hot in all the right/wrong places.

The new Deadpool & Wolverine posters promote the 4DX, Imax, Screen X, Dolby, and Real 3D film versions, with an exclusive print from Fandango for shiggles. All the posters feature Wade Wilson (Ryan Reynolds) and Logan Howlett in various poses. Whether they’re arguing, trying to kill each other, or driving a car Thelma & Louise-style, the dynamic duo is clearly infatuated with one another, as much as Logan tries to deny it.

Deadpool & Wolverine stars Ryan Reynolds and Hugh Jackman as Deadpool and Wolverine, respectively. In addition to featuring the superhero team-up of the century, the threequel finds Wade and Logan sticking their dirty fingers into the Marvel Cinematic Timeline, creating chaos while foiling a nefarious plot devised by Charles Xavier’s sister, Cassandra Nova (Emma Corrin). The MCU desperately needs a shake-up, and it sounds like Cassandra Nova and multiversal shenanigans could usher significant changes into the interconnected universe.

Deadpool & Wolverine also stars Morena Baccarin as Vanessa, Leslie Uggams as Blind Al, Karan Soni as Dopinder, Brianna Hildebrand as Negasonic Teenage Warhead, Shioli Kutsuna as Yukio, Stefan Kapičić as the voice of Colossus, and Rob Delaney as Peter. Deadpool 3 will also star Emma Corrin as the villain and Matthew Macfadyen as a TVA agent. The film is also expected to feature cameos from characters throughout the history of 20th Century Fox’s Marvel movies, with a few already being revealed in the trailer, including Aaron Stanford as Pyro.

Spyglass has been building their horror portfolio over the last couple years, reviving the Scream franchise with Scream (2022) and Scream VI, as well as bringing the world Eli Roth’s long-awaited Grindhouse spin-off Thanksgiving (which is getting a sequel). Now Deadline reports that the Spyglass project Heart Eyes, described as a horror romantic comedy, has started filming in New Zealand, with Olivia Holt of Totally Killer and Mason Gooding from Spyglass’s two Scream movies leading the cast. We don’t know whether or not Gooding is going to show up in Scream 7, but he just can’t seem to avoid the slashers.

Josh Ruben, the director of Werewolves Within and Scare Me, is at the helm of Heart Eyes, working from a screenplay that was written by Happy Death Day director Christopher Landon, Landon’s Freaky collaborator Michael Kennedy (who also wrote It’s a Wonderful Knife), and Phillip Murphy (The Hitman’s Wife’s Bodyguard). Here’s the synopsis: When the Heart Eyes Killer strikes Seattle, a pair of co-workers pulling overtime on Valentine’s Day are mistaken for a couple by the elusive couple-hunting killer. Now they must spend the most romantic night of the year running for their lives.

Ruben provided the following statement: “My love of horror is rivaled only by my love of romantic comedies. I’m excited as hell to mount my most challenging genre bender to date: a brutal slasher in a nostalgic rom-com universe.“

I’m a fan of the works of Ruben, Landon, and Kennedy (apologies to Murphy; I haven’t seen The Hitman’s Wife’s Bodyguard), and Holt and Gooding are solid actors to have in the lead roles, so I’m looking forward to seeing how Heart Eyes turns out. Especially now that the synopsis and Ruben have confirmed that Heart Eyes is a slasher, which happens to be my favorite type of horror movie to watch.

Bibbidi-Bobbidi-Boo, the Sandra Bullock and Nicole Kidman classic Practical Magic is getting a number two! Warner Bros. casts a curious spell on the Monday news cycle and says it’s making a Practical Magic sequel with Bullock and Kidman in negotiations to return as the Owens sisters. The studio uses some of the original film’s ingredients by having Akiva Goldsman pen the script. Goldsman wrote the 1998 romantic fantasy with Robin Swicord and Adam Brooks. In addition to returning as the Owen sisters, Bullock and Kidman are expected to produce alongside Denise Di Novi. Details about the plot are still bubbling in a cauldron, with more information to follow as the project takes shape.

Based on Alice Hoffman’s 1996 novel and directed by Griffin Dunne, Practical Magic revolves around two witch sisters, Sally Owens (Sandra Bullock) and Gillian Owens (Nicole Kidman), who live in a small town alongside their eccentric Aunt Frances (Stockard Channing). As the sisters attempt to practice their craft, they face closed-minded prejudice and a curse that threatens to prevent them from ever finding lasting love. The curse dictates that whoever falls in love with one of the sisters dies an untimely death. Rough.

Sally and Gillian live separate lives with different approaches to their magical gifts. Sally chooses to live quietly, while Gillian is a wild child who flaunts her abilities. When the sisters accidentally kill Gillian’s violent partner, Jimmy Angelov (Goran Visnjic), a string of supernatural events unfold, sending the duo into a race to undo a family curse.

Practical Magic grossed $68M at the worldwide box office. The choice to revisit the property and launch production on Practical Magic 2 is curious. This announcement seems to come out of nowhere, but maybe that’s the ideal way for this sequel to happen. Bullock and Kidman are superstars, and Practical Magic has become a cult favorite. I know plenty of people who will be excited to hear that Practical Magic 2 is in the works, especially if Sandra Bullock and Nicole Kidman return.

Run Lola Run is perfection. The love I have for this 1998 classic runs deep. I recently returned to the theatres to see this amazing flick on the big screen. It was easily one of the most entertaining times I’ve had in a darkened cinema in awhile. Starring the lovely Franka Potente in the iconic title role and directed by the brilliant Tom Tykwer, Run Lola Run sings. Three different tales of one situation that look and sound just as fresh as they did at the end of the 90’s. If you’ve not seen this, you are missing out on something truly special. Hopefully, some of you may have had that chance.

I became an instant fan of Franka Potente first time I caught this excellent feature. To say it was great to chat with her about this classic was a joy. She opened up about getting involved in the film, and how much of it influenced her own career. Franka was kind enough to put up with a mad fan of the movie. It brings me a thrill that so many folks can discover this one for the first time. If you get a chance and you can find the Run Lola Run 4K Restoration, it’s an exuberantly wild ride worth taking. I’m sure Run Don’t Walk has already been taken.
