I Am Legend 2, Michael B. Jordan

It’s been over two years since it was first announced that Michael B. Jordan would be joining Will Smith in I Am Legend 2, and the actor has provided an update while speaking with People.

Before you get too excited, it doesn’t sound like I Am Legend 2 is going to be heading our way anytime soon, as Jordan said the script for the sequel is still in the process of being written. “We’re still working on the script and getting that up to par,” Jordan said. “It doesn’t have a release date or anything like that. I’m not sure exactly where we’re going to be filming that one, but I’m really excited to get in front of the camera with him. Being somebody that I’ve looked up to for a really long time, to be able to work with Will is something I’m really looking forward to. I’m really excited.” The script is being written by Akiva Goldsman, who co-wrote the first movie with Mark Protosevich.

Loosely based on Richard Matheson’s novel of the same name, I Am Legend starred Will Smith as a U.S. Army virologist who struggles to develop a cure for a virus that has wiped out most of mankind while also defending himself from a bunch of nocturnal mutants. While the theatrical version ended with the death of Smith’s character, the sequel will go with the alternate ending in which he survived.

Last year, Goldsman told Deadline that the sequel would take place a “few decades” after the first movie.

I’m obsessed with The Last of Us, where we see the world just post-apocalypse but also after a 20-30-year lapse. You see how the Earth reclaims the world, and there’s something beautiful in the question of, as man steps away from being the primary tenant, what happens? That will be especially visual in New York. I don’t know if they’ll climb up to the Empire State Building, but the possibilities are endless. We trace back to the original Matheson book, and the alternate ending as opposed to the released ending in the original film. What Matheson was talking about was that man’s time on the planet as the dominant species had come to an end. That’s a really interesting thing we’re going to get to explore. There will be a little more fidelity to the original text.

Will Smith recently said that Jordan and himself “had a couple weeks together about a month ago. I think it’s looking good. [We have some] really solid ideas… I think we’re going to make it on screen together. That dude is the truth, so I would love to do that.” It’s been a while since I watched the movie, but I do recall enjoying it, at least the first half, with Smith’s character surviving alongside his dog. I am curious to see where a sequel could go, and with over fifteen years of CG advancement, I’ve got to believe that they’ll actually be able to give us more realistic Darkseekers this time.

The Last of Us, season 2 episodes

It’s been a long wait for The Last of Us season 2, but when the HBO series finally returns in 2025, it will have fewer episodes than the first season. Series creators Craig Mazin and Neil Druckmann told Deadline that the second season will consist of seven episodes, two less than the first season.

The story material that we got from Part II of the game is way more than the story material that was in the first game, so part of what we had to do from the start was figure out how to tell that story across seasons,” Mazin said. “When you do that, you look for natural breakpoints, and as we laid it out, this season, the national breakpoint felt like it came after seven episodes.

Some fans had wondered if The Last of Us season 2 would be the end of the series, but it doesn’t sound like it. In fact, Mazin and Druckmann have teased a “significantly larger” third season that could even lead to a fourth season.

Mazin continued: “We don’t think that we’re going to be able to tell the story even within two seasons [2 and 3] because we’re taking our time and go down interesting pathways which we did a little bit in Season 1 too. We feel like it’s almost assuredly going to be the case that — as long as people keep watching and we can keep making more television — Season 3 will be significantly larger. And indeed, the story may require Season 4.” The show hasn’t been renewed for a third (or fourth) season yet, but if the second season is as successful as the first, it’s a safe bet it will be.

Although there has been talk of a third installment of The Last of Us video game franchise, Mazin said they won’t be moving beyond the source material of the first two games. “As a fan, I’m thrilled that there might be a third Last of Us game. As the co-creator of this television show, there’s no world where I would want our show to go beyond the source material that people have in the world,” Mazin said. “Our show as people know it on HBO is going to cover the material from the second game and then quite a bit of material that is relevant to that story but, as I said, wanders down interesting new paths, unseen stories that were told within the context of that games material.

Beck Bennett, Superman

James Gunn’s Superman is still in the midst of production in Atlanta, and it’s been reported that Beck Bennett, best known for Saturday Night Live, has joined the cast as a “notable reporter” at the Daily Planet.

The initial reports didn’t specify exactly who Beck Bennett plays in Superman, but James Gunn confirmed on Instagram that he would play Steve Lombard, a brash and arrogant sports reporter who enjoys playing childish practical jokes on Clark Kent. A recently released photo of several Superman cast members included Bennett, who is seen with a mustache, which Lombard typically sports.

Superman stars David Corenswet (Pearl) as Clark Kent and Rachel Brosnahan (The Marvelous Ms. Maisel) as Lois Lane. The cast also includes Nathan Fillion (The Rookie) as Guy Gardner, a charismatic and slightly obnoxious member of the Green Lantern Corps; Isabela Merced (Dora and the Lost City of Gold) as Hawkgirl; Edi Gathegi (X-Men: First Class) as Mister Terrific; Anthony Carrigan (Barry) as Metamorpho; María Gabriela de Faría (Deadly Class) as The Engineer, a member of The Authority; Sara Sampaio (At Midnight) as Eve Teschmacher; Skyler Gisondo (The Righteous Gemstones) as Jimmy Olsen; Wendell Pierce as Perry White; Neva Howell as Martha Kent; Pruitt Taylor-Vince as Jonathan Kent; and Nicholas Hoult as Lex Luthor.

We got our first official look at Corenswet suited up as Superman last month, and the results were mixed, to say the least. The position Corenswet was in didn’t do the suit any favours as it looked wrinkled and bunched in the wrong places, but most fans want to see more before they pass judgment.

DC Studios co-CEO Peter Safran has previously teased that Superman will not be an origin story and will focus on “Superman balancing his Kryptonian heritage with his human upbringing. Superman represents truth, justice and the American way. He is kindness in a world that thinks of kindness as old fashioned.Superman is slated to hit theaters on July 11, 2025.

I have been a fan of Charles Band’s company Full Moon since I was a kid, and I have also been a fan of drive-in critic and movie host Joe Bob Briggs since I was a kid. So it’s fun to see those worlds colliding in the trailer for an upcoming Full Moon release, the goofball comedy Barbie & Kendra Crash Joe Bob’s Drive-In Jamboree! You can check it out in the embed above. The movie will be receiving a streaming release on Full Moon Features, Amazon Prime Video, and Tubi sometime this summer.

Barbie & Kendra Crash Joe Bob’s Drive-In Jamboree is the fourth chapter in the franchise that began with Corona Zombies back at the height of the pandemic and has continued through Barbie & Kendra Save the Tiger King and Barbie & Kendra Storm Area 51. All of those movies were released in 2020, so it’s been a while since the last Barbie and Kendra adventure.

Cody Renee Cameron and Robin Sydney star in all of these movies as Barbie and Kendra. Here’s the synopsis for the new one: The bimbos are back in the fourth – and funniest – “Barbie & Kendra” adventure yet! This time, our hapless heroines head to Vegas to crash horror host Joe Bob Briggs’ annual Drive-In movie meltdown and profess their love to the trash lovin’ Texan and his sexy sidekick Darcy. But as the ladies settle in for some primo cinematic slop, they learn that a ruthless land baroness Stu Dio is planning to turn their crush’s outdoor horror movie palace into a golf course! They already survived the Corona Zombies, saved the Tiger King, and stormed Area 51. But can Barbie and Kendra save the day, win the hearts of their heroes, AND still have time to catch a crappy flick or two? Find out this summer when BARBIE & KENDRA CRASH JOE BOB’S DRIVE-IN JAMBOREE!

Cameron and Sydney are joined in the cast by Joe Bob Briggs and Diana Prince (a.k.a. Darcy the Mail Girl), with Sleepaway Camp‘s Felissa Rose taking on the role of Stu Dio. Sydney and Band were married at the end of last year, with Joe Bob officiating.

The previous Barbie and Kendra movies were built around stock footage from films like Hell of the Living Dead, Zombies vs. Strippers, Terror in the Jungle, Luana, Space Thing, and The Day Time Ended that was then dubbed over to tell new stories, and it looks like there’s going to be a stock footage element to Barbie & Kendra Crash Joe Bob’s Drive-In Jamboree as well, since there’s some old school Exorcist knock-off footage on display in the trailer.

Are you a Full Moon fan, and will you be checking out Barbie & Kendra Crash Joe Bob’s Drive-In Jamboree? Take a look at the trailer, then let us know by leaving a comment below.
