Season 2 of the Paramount+ series Tulsa King is scheduled to begin streaming on September 15th, and today a trailer has arrived online to give us a preview of what this new batch of episodes has in store for us! You can check it out in the embed above.

Created by Yellowstone mastermind Taylor Sheridan, Tulsa King sees Sylvester Stallone take on the role of Dwight “The General” Manfredi, a Mafia capo who is released from prison at the start of the story and begins to set up a criminal organization in Tulsa, Oklahoma while trying to fix his relationship with his estranged daughter Tina (Tatiana Zappardino). In season 2: With looming threats from the Kansas City mob and a very powerful local businessman, Dwight struggles to keep his family and crew safe while keeping track of all his affairs. Plus, he still has unfinished business back in New York.

Stallone and Zappardino are joined in the cast by Andrea Savage as Stacy Beale, Jay Will as Tyson, Martin Starr as Bodhi, Max Casella as Armand Truisi, Dana Delaney as Margaret, Garrett Hedlund as Mitch, and Domenick Lombardozzi as Chickie Ivernizzi. For season two, Annabella Sciorra’s Joanne is being upped to series regular status, while Frank Grillo has signed on to play Bill Bevilaqua, a Kansas City mobster and foil for Dwight, and Neal McDonough is set to play Cal Thresher, a powerful and highly territorial businessman.

Sheridan serves as an executive producer on the series alongside Stallone, Terence Winter, Craig Zisk, David C. Glasser, Ron Burkle, Bob Yari, David Hutkin, Braden Aftergood, and Keith Cox. It’s distributed by Paramount Global.

I haven’t caught up on the first season of Tulsa King yet, but as a Sylvester Stallone fan I have it on my “must see” list and will be getting to it soon. Hopefully… Maybe I’ll even get season 1 watched by the time season 2 comes along.

Depp Pirates

A follow-up to Pirates of the Caribbean is the currently ongoing “development hell” story that’s been kicking around for some years. The concept has been going through a bevy of incarnations. Producer Jerry Bruckheimer has thrown around a number of concepts, one of them involving Margot Robbie (which received conflicting reports on whether or not Disney passed on it) and one of them involving a new cast of younger actors. Bruckheimer confirmed recently that it will be a full-on reboot.

Bruckheimer is no stranger to development hell sequels, as the upcoming Beverly Hills Cop: Axel F went through its own string of failed attempts, including a TV pilot that featured Axel’s son (with Eddie making a cameo). While the mega-producer spoke with ComicBook.com about the upcoming Netflix action comedy, he offered an update on the Pirates of the Caribbean reboot. Bruckheimer stated,

We have a script that’s being written right now. Hopefully it’ll come in a month or so, and it’ll be as good as I think it will be. So let’s hope that Disney likes it and they give us an opportunity to make it.”

The inevitable question associated with the project would be Johnny Depp’s involvement. Previously, Bruckheimer had given his brief statement on whether he would like to have Depp back in some capacity. He responded, “If it was up to me, of course, I’d love to have him back in the movie. He’s fabulous. A great actor and a good friend.” It was then asked if Bruckheimer and Depp have had conversations of getting the band back together and Bruckheimer responded simply, “I’ve certainly spoken to him. But we’ll see what happens.”

Many fans wonder why he decided to reboot the franchise in the first place instead of making it a sequel to the already-established world. According to Bruckheimer, much of it comes down to scheduling, with him noting how hard it is to do sequels to huge hits with big stars, as you have to wait on a performer’s availability. “You don’t know how they come together. You just don’t know. Because with Top Gun you have an actor who is iconic and brilliant. And how many movies he does before he does Top Gun, I can’t tell you. But we’re gonna reboot Pirates, so that is easier to put together because you don’t have to wait for certain actors.”

IFC Films will be giving the vanity thriller Skincare, starring Cocaine Bear director Elizabeth Banks, a theatrical release on August 16th – and with that date just a couple of months away, they have decided to unveil a trailer for the film. You can check it out in the embed above.

Skincare marks the narrative feature directorial debut of Austin Peters, who previously directed the documentary Give Me Future, about the free Major Lazer concert in Havana, Cuba that drew half a million fans. Peters wrote the screenplay with Sam Freilich and Deering Regan, crafting the following story: Famed aesthetician Hope Goldman (Elizabeth Banks) is about to take her career to the next level by launching her very own skincare line, but her personal and work lives are challenged when rival facialist Angel Vergara opens a new skincare boutique directly across from her store. She starts to suspect that someone is trying to sabotage her reputation and business, and together with her friend Jordan she embarks on a mission to unravel the mystery of who is trying to destroy her life.

Banks, whose acting credits include Spider-Man, Wet Hot American Summer, Pitch Perfect, The Hunger Games, and Zack and Miri Make a Porno, is joined in the cast by Lewis Pullman (Top Gun: Maverick), Michaela Jaé Rodriguez (Transformers: Rise of the Beasts), Luis Gerardo Méndez (Charlie’s Angels), and Nathan Fillion (Slither). Méndez plays Angel Vergara, while Pullman takes on the role of Jordan.

Skincare is coming our way from Iervolino & Lady Bacardi Entertainment, with Jonathan Schwartz and Logan Lerman producing. The movie looks promising to me and I’m a fan of several of the cast members, so chances are high that I will be watching it at some point.

What did you think of the trailer for Skincare? Does this look like a movie you’d want to catch on the big screen later this year? Let us know by leaving a comment below.

A press release notifies us that Skincare has a running time of 94 minutes, but has not yet received a rating from the Motion Picture Association.
