Like most folks, you probably saw Wing Stance used on the Milady in early gameplay footage of Elden Ring’s Shadow of the Erdtree. Unfortunately, Milady doesn’t come bearing this exciting Ash of War—but that doesn’t mean you can’t find it pretty early in the game and apply it to the sword whenever you’d like.

Last June, we learned that Hugh Grant – whose credits include Notting Hill, Love Actually, Wonka, and Unfrosted – had signed on to star in the A24 horror film Heretic, which is coming our way from the writing and directing duo of Scott Beck and Bryan Woods. Last month, A24 revealed their plan to give Heretic a wide theatrical release on November 15th. Just yesterday, they unveiled a poster for the film, and with that came the promise that a trailer for Heretic would be arriving online today. True to their word, A24 has just released that trailer, and you can check it out in the embed above.
Details have been scarce up to this point, but with the trailer we have also received an official plot synopsis: Two young missionaries are forced to prove their faith when they knock on the wrong door and are greeted by a diabolical Mr. Reed (Hugh Grant), becoming ensnared in his deadly game of cat-and-mouse.
Now we have confirmation that Grant, who has previously said that he finds villain roles to be “more fun” to play, will be playing the villain in this scenario. It should be very interesting to watch him take on a diabolic role in a horror movie, and the trailer gives a nice preview of the performance he has delivered. He is joined in the cast of Heretic by Chloe East (The Fabelmans) and Sophie Thatcher (Yellowjackets) as the missionaries.
Grant hasn’t done much horror in his career, but he did have a role in Ken Russell’s Bram Stoker-inspired supernatural horror comedy The Lair of the White Worm back in 1988.
Beck and Woods’ previous credits include A Quiet Place (they wrote the original script), Haunt (as writers/directors), Nightlight (writers/directors), Spread (writers/directors), the “Adam Driver vs. dinosaurs” movie 65 (writers/directors), and an episode of 50 States of Fright (writers/directors). They also (alongside Mark Heyman) received writing credits on the Stephen King adaptation The Boogeyman – which happened to star Sophie Thatcher, who turned in a great performance in a movie I thought was just okay overall.
What did you think of the trailer for Heretic? Will you be catching this A24 horror film on the big screen in November? Let us know by leaving a comment below.

As Marvel depends on Deadpool & Wolverine to bring back a semblance of success to the studio after many felt there was a substantial dip in quality, behind-the-scenes drama continues to plague the brand. The MCU is still contending with the change in villain actors since the whole Jonathan Majors debacle. Additionally, fans of Daredevil are still waiting for his anticipated return after the major overhaul of Daredevil: Born Again and the Mahershala Ali Blade movie is facing its own string of misadventures as the script keeps getting rewritten and the film keeps losing directors.
Mia Goth was cast in the film back in April of 2023, and rumors have been swirling that she’ll be playing the villainous character Lilith. Lilith is known in the comics as the supernatural character who tries to take the blood of Blade’s daughter. As Goth walked the red carpet at the premiere of her upcoming film, MaXXXine, she speaks briefly to Deadline about the people behind the making of the film. Her reply to the inquiry about the production was,
They really care, they do. They want to make a great movie. That’s the sense that I get from them and that feels good.”
Ali made his debut as Blade with a vocal cameo at the end of Eternals, where he interrupts the character Dane Whitman (played by Kit Harington) before he can touch a mystical sword called the Ebony Blade. In the comics, Whitman becomes the Black Knight while wielding that sword, so some fans thought he might show up as the Black Knight in Blade. However, Harington has said that the Black Knight was never meant to be in the movie. The Ebony Blade, on the other hand, might be a different story…
A recent Production Weekly listing claimed the Blade reboot is aiming for a Fall 2024 production start, but they still need to figure out the script and now they need to find a director. There have been rumors about Marvel meeting with Jordan Peele, possibly for Blade, even though Peele has previously said he has no interest in superhero properties. In the meantime, Mahershala Ali is busy working on the new Jurassic World movie.
When Squid Game absolutely exploded in popularity upon its release in 2021, you may recall rumours that David Fincher was going to be working on a US version of the series. Well, according to The Playlist, not only is the project still in development, but Fincher may have even put the Chinatown prequel series on the back burner to focus on Squid Game.
The report states that Fincher has been “quietly working” on Squid Game for the last two years and has even tapped Dennis Kelly (Utopia) to write the project. The report notes that it’s “unclear” where the Squid Game remake is at, but it could be Fincher’s next directing project, considering how he pivoted away from Chinatown, which has all its episodes written.
We should note that Netflix’s Ted Sarandos did shot down the Squid Game remake rumours earlier this year. After all, with a second season of Squid Game on the way, there’s not a great reason for the streaming service to do an English-language remake, even with David Fincher at the helm. The first season of the series still stands as Netflix’s most popular show of all time, with over 2.2 billion hours viewed. If the remake does move forward, I could see it taking the form of a companion series rather than a straight remake, with new characters dealing with a US chapter of the game.
Even if Fincher really is working on a Squid Game project, there’s no guarantee it will ever see the light of day as the director may just rival Guillermo del Toro when it comes to unmade projects.
Although a US version of Squid Game may not be a thing (yet), Netflix did fill the gap between seasons with Squid Game: The Challenge, a reality series which found 456 players competing for a US$4.56 million cash prize by competing in challenges based on those in the series… although without all the death. The streaming service has already renewed the reality series for a second season. “There was no red light in our decision to greenlight season two of Squid Game: The Challenge, the most ambitious unscripted show we’ve premiered at Netflix,” said Brandon Riegg, Netflix VP of Nonfiction Series. “We’re so excited to continue the franchise of Squid Game with our team in Korea, and producers at Studio Lambert and The Garden for this epic competition series.“
According to star Lee Jung-jae, the second season of Squid Game will debut on Netflix this December. When it comes to David Fincher, would you like him to tackle a Squid Game remake or move on to something else?
It’s been nearly fifteen years since the release of Shrek: Forever After, but there have been rumblings of a fifth installment of the main franchise for some time. Illumination founder and CEO Chris Meledandri revealed last year that they were hoping to get the band back together for Shrek 5, but Eddie Murphy dropped a bombshell while speaking with Collider, saying that he’s already been in the recording booth for the new movie. He also revealed that Donkey will be getting his own standalone movie, which will be released after Shrek 5.
“We started doing Shrek 4 or [Shrek] 5 months ago. I did this, I recorded the first act, and we’ll be doing it this year, we’ll finish it up,” Murphy said. “Shrek is coming out, and Donkey’s gonna have his own movie. We’re gonna do Donkey as well. So we’re gonna do a Shrek, and we’re doing a Donkey [movie].” Murphy added that he believes Shrek 5 will come out in 2025, but we should hopefully get an official announcement sometime this year.
Eddie Murphy will next be seen in Beverly Hills Cop: Axel F, which recently had its world premiere. Our own Chris Bumbray attended the premiere and had a blast, so you can expect to see his review right here on JoBlo.com closer to the movie’s streaming release. Murphy and producer Jerry Bruckheimer also revealed that they’re already developing Beverly Hills Cop 5.
The official logline for Beverly Hills Cop: Axel F: “Detective Axel Foley (Murphy) is back on the beat in Beverly Hills. After his daughter Jane’s (Taylour Paige) life is threatened, she and Foley team up with a new partner (Joseph Gordon-Levitt) and old pals Billy Rosewood (Judge Reinhold) and Taggart (John Ashton) to turn up the heat and uncover a conspiracy.” In addition to Eddie Murphy, Beverly Hills Cop: Axel F features the return of several original cast members, including Judge Reinhold as Lt. William “Billy” Rosewood, John Ashton as Sgt. John Taggart, Paul Reiser as Det. Jeffrey Friedman, and Bronson Pinchot as Serge. The film is slated to be released on Netflix on July 3rd.
