One of the buzziest action movies of the year is the Bollywood flick Kill. The movie has already been slotted for an English-language remake from 87Eleven, but the producers behind Kill are hoping American audiences discover this unique spin on the classic martial arts film in theatres now. To note, while Bollywood is an insanely popular industry, it has never really done a stripped down action film like this. Typically, their action movies fall into the “Massala” category, where a little bit of everything is thrown in, like music, comedy, action and more. A good recent example is the Shah Rukh Khan film, Pathaan. Kill is something different. It runs under two hours; there are no musical numbers, very little comedy, and the violence is hardcore.
In Kill, Bollywood heartthrob Lakshya plays a commando who discovers his girlfriend is being forced into an arranged marriage, so he hops a train bound for Delhi to help her escape. But, the train winds up being hijacked by bandits, and now he must do battle with a full train of killers to save his dream woman.
The action in Kill is unique for the genre in that it’s all close-quarters and done with edged weapons. Indeed, I’ve never seen a martial arts action film quite like Kill, with it feeling a bit like The Raid on a train. It’s well worth checking out (read our review here), and embedded above, you can see our interviews with Lakshya, director Nikhil Nagesh Bhat, and famed Bollywood producers Karan Johar and Guneet Monga Kapoor.
After Supernatural wrapped up its fifteen season run back in 2020, the franchise was supposed to live on through the prequel series The Winchesters… but then the show’s home network The CW was taken over by a new management team that came in with the intention of wiping the CW slate clean for the most part. The Winchesters was cancelled after one season, then couldn’t find a new home because it had to be shopped around during the writers strike, when networks and streamers were hesitant to make major pickup decisions. But there still might be more Supernatural in our future, as the show’s stars Jared Padalecki and Jensen Ackles are very open to returning to the roles of monster hunting brothers Sam and Dean Winchester at some point – and in fact, Padalecki has said in a new interview that he’s “dying to” make a revival season.
Speaking on the I’ve Never Said This Beforepodcast, Padalecki said (with thanks to ComicBook.com for the transcription), “I will say this. I don’t want to do another 15 years of Supernatural. I don’t want to do another 5 years of Supernatural. I am dying to do a reboot of Supernatural akin to the Gilmore Girls reboot; here are four one-and-a-half-hour episodes. We’ll shoot it in three months. I think Jensen [Ackles] and I both said in 2020, ‘We’d love to revisit these characters, this world. Give us five years.’ Which is next year. And I see him often. And we talk often. I think he and I are both really eager to do it. I’m certain I’ll put the flannel on again and play Sam Winchester.“
Padalecki followed Supernatural with four seasons of the series Walker on The CW – but that show was just cancelled, and Padalecki has blasted the current version of the network as a cheap content factory. Now he’s expected to follow Ackles over to The Boys, which has Supernatural creator Eric Kripke as its showrunner.
Would you like to see Padalecki and Ackles reprise the roles of Sam and Dean Winchester for a revival season of Supernatural next year? Share your thoughts on this one by leaving a comment below.
The second season of Marvel’s animated series What If…? (read our review HERE) was released through the Disney+ streaming service at the end of December, and the first images from season 3 of the show arrived online soon after. What If…? season 3 doesn’t have a premiere date yet, but Brad Winderbaum, Marvel Studios’ Head of Streaming, Television and Animation, has indicated that it might not be far off – and it might even be released before the Your Friendly Neighborhood Spider-Man animated series premiere in November. Winderbaum has also indicated that What If…? season 3 might be the end of the run for this show, wrapping it up as a trilogy.
Marvel’s What If…? season 2 has the following synopsis: The Watcher continues the journey as our guide through the vast multiverse, introducing brand-new and familiar faces throughout the Marvel Cinematic Universe. The animated anthology series questions, revisits and twists classic Marvel Cinematic moments with an incredible voice cast that includes a host of stars who reprise their iconic roles.
The first season of the show consisted of these episodes: What If… Captain Carter Were the First Avenger?, What If… T’Challa Became a Star-Lord?, What If… the World Lost Its Mightiest Heroes?, What If… Doctor Strange Lost His Heart Instead of His Hands?, What If… Zombies?!, What If… Killmonger Rescued Tony Stark?, What If… Thor Were an Only Child?, What If… Ultron Won?, and What If… the Watcher Broke His Oath?
Here are the questions that were asked (and answered) in the second season: What If… Nebula Joined the Nova Corps?, What If… Peter Quill Attacked Earth’s Mightiest Heroes?, What If… Happy Hogan Saved Christmas?, What If… Iron Man Crashed Into the Grandmaster?, What If… Captain Carter Fought the Hydra Stomper?, What If… Kahhori Reshaped the World?, What If… Hela Found the Ten Rings?, What If… The Avengers Assembled in 1602?, and What If… Strange Supreme Intervened?
We don’t know what topics What If…? season 3 will be covering, but the images have let us know the Sam Wilson Captain America, Bucky Barnes, Monica Rambeau, Ant-Man, and what looks to be a young Red Guardian will be involved. There’s also a giant mecha Captain America in there.
Winderbaum previously told ComicBook.com, “What If…? Season 3 is — that might be the one that comes out next, in terms of animation. That is the culmination of a trilogy. We’re actually close to completing that one, and it really feels like you’ve gone through this amazing emotional experience with Uatu, in a way that’s… What’s great about The Watcher is that he presents himself as uncaring, and cold, and just an observer, but he cares more than everybody [and] anybody. That is on full display in that third season.“
On a recent episode of the Official Marvel Podcast, Winderbaum said (with thanks to Entertainment Weekly for the transcription), “It takes us to places that you’d never expect. It goes beyond the first two seasons in its exploration of the multiverse. It pulls in characters that are very unexpected, and has what I think is an extremely moving and very fulfilling culmination for Uatu the Watcher.“

After movies like The Fall Guy and Furiosa made their home debuts mere weeks after their theatrical premieres, Jeff Nichols’ period drama The Bikeriders joins the pack as it revs up to hit digital outlets tomorrow. The film garnered much praise from critics, including our own Chris Bumbray, who said in his review, “This is the rare film where I almost hope there’s a more extended version, as I found some of the side characters fascinating and worth further development. […] It’s rare I look at my watch during a movie hoping there’s more or it left, but that’s what happened to me here quite a bit, so take that as high praise.”
The press release from Universal reads, “Loyalty, power, and brotherhood collide in Focus Features’ ‘must-see summer movie’ (USA Today) that critics are calling ‘Goodfellas on Harley-Davidsons’ (Indiewire). THE BIKERIDERS is available for the first time exclusively on digital platforms where you can rent or buy beginning July 9, 2024, from Universal Pictures Home Entertainment. Certified Fresh on Rotten Tomatoes, THE BIKERIDERS is inspired by true events and delivers on an exhilarating tale about legacy and freedom within a band of outsiders.
Written and directed by Jeff Nichols (Mud, Take Shelter), THE BIKERIDERS boasts a power-house ensemble cast including Emmy®, BAFTA®, and Tony Award® winner Jodie Comer (“Killing Eve”, The Last Duel) alongside Academy Award® nominee Austin Butler (Elvis, Dune: Part Two) and Academy Award® nominee Tom Hardy (The Revenant, Dunkirk, Inception). Other impressive cast members include two-time Academy Award® nominee Michael Shannon, Boyd Holbrook (Logan, The Predator) and Norman Reedus (“The Walking Dead”, Triple 9).
THE BIKERIDERS captures a rebellious time in America when the culture and people were changing. After a chance encounter at a local bar, strong-willed Kathy (Comer) is inextricably drawn to Benny (Butler), the newest member of Midwestern motorcycle club the Vandals, led by the enigmatic Johnny (Hardy). Much like the country around it, the club begins to evolve, transforming from a gathering place for local outsiders into a dangerous underworld of violence, forcing Benny to choose between Kathy and his loyalty to the club.”
