There’s been a lot of speculation and some confirmations as to who would be making cameos in the upcoming Deadpool & Wolverine. The rumors have been running rampant since the film deals with Deadpool crossing over from the 20th Century Fox universe to the official MCU. Additionally, the very nature of the character involves the constant breaking of the fourth wall and making many references to existing properties. Earlier, Marvel had upped the ante by releasing a trailer specifically headlining a cameo that leads to a moment that fans have been waiting decades for.
As early as the first teaser trailer, sharp-eyed fans noticed another past character making an appearance in Deadpool & Wolverine. There is a quick shot of actor Aaron Stanford reprising his role as Pyro from the original X-Men movies. According to Variety, Stanford would speak about his return to the universe in an interview with Entertainment Weekly. Stanford would amusingly note, “I was just very happy to even have a costume. In the original ‘X-Men’ films, Pyro gets really shortchanged in terms of a costume.”
He continues, “In X2, we start off with Pyro in Xavier’s School for Gifted Mutants. The SWAT team bursts in in the middle of the night and we have to flee. So for half the movie, I’m in my jammies. I never got the cool leather, tactical suit that all the X-Men wear. And in ‘X3,’ I was just dressed in an ensemble from Hot Topic, basically. So to have him be in a proper superhero costume that was actually taken from the comics themselves was very cool.”
The buzz has always been about who could possibly show up in the universe crossover film. Deadpool & Wolverine director Shawn Levy also told EW that he “didn’t want any of the cameos or characters to be the story of the movie. But they are peppered in throughout.” Levy added, “There’s a lot of characters. The internet is a delight of rumors about the multitude of character cameos that are in this movie. Some rumors are true, some are way off base.”
The Rings of Spectral Light is a Sorcery found only in Elden Ring’s Shadow of the Erdtree expansion. This spell is visually exciting and inflicts Frostbite buildup, but you’ll need to be sure you’re comfortable investing in both Intelligence and Faith if you want to add it to your loadout.

Early last month, it was reported that Paramount Studios and Skydance Productions had settled on a big merger, with the deal reaching $8 billion. However, over the course of the month, the road to closing the deal would start to get bumpy. A rep for Shari Redstone’s National Amusements (NAI) stated on June 11 that both parties had “not been able to reach mutually acceptable terms regarding the potential transaction with Skydance Media for the acquisition of a controlling stake in NAI.” This statement followed multiple revisions to the draft for an official offer.
The Hollywood Reporter now says that it’s back to the negotiation table with both companies. On June 25, during a town hall meeting with their employees, Paramount CEO Brian Robbins mentioned “what a difficult and disruptive period it has been.” National Amusements and David Ellison’s Skydance Media are now said to be re-engaging in talks that may lead to a transition in the ownership for the Paramount Global company. The perceived next step is for the agreement to be reviewed under Paramount’s special committee of the board of directors. A NAI rep would decline to comment on the matter, but a source had confirmed this development to THR.
It was once said that part of the merger deal would entail for Skydance to buy out almost half of Paramount’s class B shares for $4.5 billion, $15 apiece. Doing this is giving shareholders a stake in the newly formed company, according to CNBC’s David Faber. Early last month, it was revealed that Apollo and Sony had shown interest in acquiring Paramount in the amount of $26 billion and they had aimed to break up the company. Their proposal was turned down by Redstone as she was more interested in a deal that would keep the company together. The Warners-Paramount rumors would heat up when Redstone met with Zaslav last year. However, Bob Bakish would ultimately step down as CEO earlier this year and three executives at the company would take over the proceedings. This included CBS president and CEO George Cheeks; Chris McCarthy, president and CEO of Showtime/MTV Entertainment Studios and Paramount Media Networks; and Brian Robbins, the head of Paramount Pictures and Nickelodeon.
The potential merger would bring many iconic entertainment franchises under one roof, including Star Trek, Harry Potter, Looney Tunes, Transformers, Mission: Impossible, DC, and more. It would also likely see the two streaming services — Max and Paramount+ — combine in order to more effectively challenge Netflix and Disney+.
Later this month, Marvel Studios will release Deadpool & Wolverine, an R-rated superhero romp starring Ryan Reynolds as the Merc with a Mouth and Hugh Jackman as the Canadian with claws, Wolverine. Before the assassin in red pajamas became the most bankable hero of the summer box office, Deadpool was little more than a character done wrong in 2009’s X-Men Origins: Wolverine, when something possessed writers David Benioff and Skip Woods to silence Wade Wilson (Deadpool) partway through the film. Muzzling Deadpool did not go over well with audiences, and fans lost all hope for Deadpool’s future on the big screen. Several years later, CGI test footage featuring Ryan Reynolds as the voice of Deadpool “leaked” online. While Fox didn’t bite at first, reactions to the footage made it clear that Hollywood should explore Deadpool on the big screen.
Since Deadpool‘s release, Wade Wilson’s popularity has skyrocketed, with the character standing as an example of how R-rated superhero films could turn a good buck. Because of the character’s mass appeal, parents let Deadpool’s foul-mouthed, violent antics into their homes, deeming the character “safe” for younger audiences to enjoy. Deadpool is anything but sanitary. Still, Reynolds’ portrayal of the character is so charming parents couldn’t help but let his shenanigans slide.
After a dip in interest (and some would say quality), Marvel aims to return to theaters significantly with Deadpool & Wolverine as the studio’s only tentpole release in 2024. The upcoming film makes dreams come true by bringing Wade and Logan together, a union that’s been dreamed about since Deadpool sliced his way into cinemas. The threequel is on track to become the summer’s most successful film at the box office, though Inside Out 2 is certainly giving Marvel a run for its money. This level of hype only exists with Tim Miller’s Deadpool, and that’s why we’re revisiting the film that helped make the titular character a household name.
Some people say you always remember your first, and that’s certainly the case with Reynolds’ first crack at playing Marvel’s wise-cracking, hyper-violent hero whose only goal is to gain the approval of his peers and maybe bust a few heads in the process.
