From the creators of Sharknado comes Methgator, a new drug-fueled creature feature with its jaws set on Marvel’s foul-mouthed golden boys of summer, Deadpool & Wolverine. Courtesy of The Asylum, we’re pleased to share the exclusive first look at the brand-new Comic-Con poster for Methgator, which features the narcotic-driven reptile chowing down on Deadpool and Wolverine. I don’t know if they can quip their way out of this one.
In the vein of Elizabeth Banks’ Cocaine Bear, the official synopsis reads: “In a 2019 news bulletin, police warned residents to refrain from flushing methamphetamine down the toilet to prevent ‘meth-gators.’ Down in Sweet Water Point, Florida, they didn’t listen.” They never do. The film stars Robbie Rist (Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles), LaRonn Marzett (Birdie), Vanessa Tamayo (Monster Grizzly), and the one and only Patrick Labyorteaux, who played one of my favourite characters on Little House on the Prairie, Andy Garvey.
Directed by Christopher Ray from a screenplay by Joe Roche and Lauren Pritchard, Methgator will have its own panel at San Diego Comic-Con today at 9:00 p.m. PST in Room 32AB. “Join us for an exciting discussion about METH GATOR, the latest film from The Asylum (producers of Sharknado, Z Nation and Black Summer),” reads the panel description. “Featuring cast and crew, this panel promises exclusive behind-the-scenes insights and an opportunity to pitch your own movie ideas to the Asylum executives.” That sounds like fun. Mega-Tornadoes vs The Apocalypse! Alien: Remus! Transmorphers: Origins! Speedy the Porcupine! Santa Down: The Search for Father Christmas! Sharknado: Multiverse Madness! Let us know some ideas in the comments!
Last year, during Sharknado‘s 10th anniversary, The Asylum put together a fun Barbie-inspired poster to promote the theatrical re-release of the cult favourite movie.
Methgator will be released in theaters and on VOD on August 2nd.
It’s been a long road (getting from there to here), but Deadpool & Wolverine has finally arrived! The highly-anticipated sequel will bring Deadpool into the Marvel Cinematic Universe, which could certainly use a shot in the arm. The film is poised to be a big return to form for Marvel, particularly at the box office, where it is predicted to debut with a $360 million global opening.
Taking place six years after the events of the last movie, Deadpool & Wolverine finds Wade Wilson (Ryan Reynolds) toiling away in civilian life with his days as Deadpool behind him. But when his homeworld faces an existential threat, he must suit up once again and convince a reluctant Wolverine (Hugh Jackman) to help save his universe. In addition to Reynolds and Jackman, the cast also includes Matthew Macfadyen, Emma Corrin, Morena Baccarin, Leslie Uggams, Karan Soni, Brianna Hildebrand, Shioli Kutsuna, Rob Delany, Stefan Kapičić, and more. The film also includes quite a few cameos from across the various Marvel universes, some of which have already been spoiled in the various trailers.
The film is currently sitting at 81% on Rotten Tomatoes, which places it just a few points behind Deadpool at 85% and Deadpool 2 at 84%. Our own Chris Bumbray had a lot of fun with the movie, which sounds like a real crowd-pleaser. “Have you ever been to a concert and wished that your favourite band would stop playing their not-as-good new stuff and play the hits? That’s exactly what Marvel is doing with Deadpool & Wolverine,” Bumbray wrote in his review. “After a rough run of movies, with many saying their Phase 5 has been disastrous, this feels like an everything but the kitchen-sink attempt by the company to win back those fans who feel alienated by the new direction the company seemed to be heading in. With this, you have a rock ‘em, sock ‘em thrill ride that delivers fans exactly the movie they wanted to see, with nary a message to be found amidst all the charred, sliced and diced corpses our heroes leave in their wake. It’s glorious fun.” You can check out the rest of Bumbray’s spoiler-free review right here.

Are you scared? Well, you shouldn’t be, because Jordan Peele is rebootingScare Tactics, the hidden-camera horror comedy series.
Scare Tactics originally aired for five seasons on Syfy and was originally hosted by Shannon Doherty before she was replaced by Stephen Baldwin halfway through the second season. Baldwin was himself replaced by Tracy Morgan for the remainder of the series. The Scare Tactics reboot has been greenlit by USA Network and will premiere this fall. Much like the original, the reboot will “turn unsuspecting individuals into the main characters of their very own horror movies. Set up by their friends and family, these unwitting participants are put in twisted scenarios with fully immersive stories that blur the lines of reality, horror and comedy as they navigate one unreal decision after another.“
Jordan Peele will produce the Scare Tactics reboot through his Monkeypaw Productions banner alongside Universal Television Alternate Studios. “As one of the most visionary creators of the day, there is nothing Jordan Peele can’t do. We’re honored to be making our first unscripted series together,” said Corie Henson, EVP, Unscripted Content, NBCUniversal Entertainment. “This brilliant reimagining of the classic Scare Tactics has it all – laughs, jump scares and outrageous moments. In the hands of Jordan and Monkeypaw, you never know what’s coming next.“
Win Rosenfeld, President of Monkeypaw Productions, added, “We’re so grateful at Monkeypaw to help reimagine one of our all-time favorite hidden-camera shows. Working with showrunner Elan Gale, one of the most creative and mischievous minds in unscripted television, and Scott Hallock, the brilliant creator of the original Scare Tactics, has been an absolute blast. It’s cathartic and hilarious to watch people get a little scared, and the scenarios we cooked up for this season are really wild. We can’t wait to share a little light-hearted schadenfreude with audiences soon.“
Not to be left out, Toby Gorman, President of Universal Television Alternative Studio, had this to say: “What do you get when you combine Jordan Peele, hidden cameras, unsuspecting people and horror-movie scenarios? You’re about to find out. Working with Monkeypaw Productions, NBCU and USA Network to bring one of the most creatively scary and hilarious projects to life has been a phenomenal experience. We can’t wait for audiences to join in the fun of our first unscripted project with Jordan as it perfectly blends horror, humor and reality.“
As for when Peele will get back behind the camera for a follow-up to Get Out, Us, and Nope, he has a new project in the works at Universal, which is slated for an October 23, 2026release. While speaking on the Conan O’Brien Needs a Friend podcast earlier this year, Peele seemed pumped about the project, saying, “I do feel like my next project is clear to me, and I’m psyched that I have another film that, you know, could be my favorite movie if I make it right.“
The Peacock streaming service has announced that the first two episodes of the James Wan-produced series Teacup, which is an adaptation of the 1988 bestseller Stinger, written by Robert R. McCammon (pick up a copy HERE), are set to premiere on October 10th – and along with that announcement comes the unveiling of a teaser trailer for the show, which can be seen in the embed above! Teaser art and first look photos have also made their way online, and those can be seen at the bottom of this article.
Peacock will be releasing two episodes of Teacup weekly through Halloween.
McCammon’s novel has the following description: The story takes place during a single twenty-four hour period in Inferno, Texas. Inferno is a town in trouble, driven to the brink by racial tension, gang violence, and a collapsing economy. But things can always get worse, and they do so with astonishing speed when an unidentified spacecraft crash lands in the desert outside of town, followed by a second craft bearing the alien being who will soon be known as Stinger. Stinger is a kind of interstellar hunter on a mission he intends to complete, whatever the cost. He brings with him an endless array of technological marvels and an infinite capacity for destruction that threaten the existence of Inferno, its inhabitants, and the larger world beyond.
Teacup will follow a disparate group of people in rural Georgia who must come together in the face of a mysterious threat to survive.
James Wan is executive producing Teacup through his company Atomic Monster, alongside Michael Clear and Rob Hackett. Yellowstone consulting producer Ian McCulloch is a writer and executive producer on the show. Other executive producers include McCammon, Francisca X. Hu, Kevin Tancharoen, and E.L. Katz, who directed the first two episodes. Danielle Bozzone is overseeing the project for Atomic Monster. The show is coming our way from UCP, a division of Universal Studio Group.
McCulloch provided the following statement: “When Atomic Monster first approached me about creating a series adaptation of Robert McCammon’s Stinger—a no-holds-barred, gargantuan spectacle of a novel along the lines of The Stand, Independence Day and Mars Attacks—to be honest, I didn’t want to throw my hat in the ring. I’m not a spectacle writer. I’m a less-is-more writer. I gravitate more toward what are known as keyhole epics. Large stories told through small lenses. Think Signs, The Thing, A Quiet Place. But here’s the thing. I read Stinger and it stayed with me. Wouldn’t leave me alone. I just couldn’t stop thinking about its razor-sharp premise, how it unfolds over the course of a single harrowing day, and about the relatable and real family McCammon puts center stage. That’s when the flash bang-light bulb idea hit… What if I adapted Stinger in a way that honors the book and stays true to the kinds of stories I like to tell? Keep the conceit. Keep Stinger’s most effective elements. Take away the large ensemble. Take away the giant set pieces. Even take away the book’s crowded town setting. The adaptation would be like an acoustic guitar version of, say, a Radiohead song. It won’t have the production value, electronic instruments, loops, or synthesized bells and whistles but it will still have the melody, the structure, the lyrics, the real magic at the core, all the stuff that makes a great song agreatsong. All of which is to say I could suddenly see exactly what to do and how to do it. Two weeks later, Atomic Monster had the script for the first episode. Soon after that, Peacock bought it. Not so long after that, both my creative and career dreams actually started coming true as more scripts were written, hires made, actors cast, sets built, and production began… Of course, during production the series changed and evolved. Just as it should. Even the title’s different. Stinger is now Teacup. The reasons for this are too spoilery to share but watch the first few episodes and all will be revealed. Point being, the series is now very much its own thing: a puzzle-box mystery, an edge-of-your-seat thriller, a can’t-but-must look horror story, a family drama, a science fiction epic—of the keyhole variety, of course. But as singular, strange, and surprising as I hope Teacup is, all you need to do is peel away the layers, characters, situations, and mythology and look behind the thrills, chills, hairpin turns and make-you gaspreveals. Do all that and you’ll see, at its heart, Teacup is still very much standing on the shoulders of Stinger. Just as it should.“
Wan added: “After reading Robert McCammon’s book Stinger, the entire team at Atomic Monster felt a spark. The story had all the ingredients for a captivating series and Ian McCulloch had a vision to bring it to life in a fresh way that was both startling and darkly atmospheric, but filled with a rich sense of humanity — often lacking in edgy narratives. Add in our incredibly talented cast led by Yvonne Strahovski, Scott Speedman and Chaske Spencer and fans are in for a true edge-of-your-seat experience. Teacup defies easy labels. It’s a genre-bending blend of horror, mystery, and drama, with layers that unfold like a captivating puzzle. It goes beyond chills and thrills and holds up a mirror to humanity, exploring the darkness that resides within us all. We hope you enjoy this wild ride as much as we’ve loved creating it!“

Todd McFarlane has been working on aSpawn movie for what seems like an eternity, but there have been some promising developments in recent weeks. Blumhouse’s Jason Blum recently teased the script for the movie, which is titled King Spawn, and THR reports that the search is now on for a director.
With the script in a good place, Todd McFarlane and Jason Blum will soon start meeting with potential directors for the project. Once that happens, the next step will be to approach studio partners. The report also doesn’t know if Jamie Foxx, who has been attached to star in the Spawn movie since 2018, is still involved. The actor suffered a mysterious “medical complication” last year, which required a lengthy recovery period. King Spawn is expected to be a mid-budget movie that will likely cost more than Blumhouse typically spends on a project.
McFarlane explained that the release of two major R-rated comic book movies, Deadpool & Wolverine and Joker: Folie à Deux, will hopefully help King Spawn get across the finish line. “Deadpool is a fun R. Something like Joker 2 is a serious R. Our movie is going to be super serious and dark and gritty,” McFarlane said. “It’s going to be an at times a heavy movie. If you like serious drama, with meaningful themes that are relevant and that may even some reflection of the world we live in, then this has a lot of those elements in it.“
The Spawn movie was previously slated to be directed by McFarlane himself; in fact, it was one of very few “demands” he had when shopping the project. “I have very few demands for the movie. It has to be Rated R, there’s no debate around that,” McFarlane said in 2020. “With the story I want to tell, my intent goes back to that Spawn Cloud. I am less concerned about what happens in the movie as long as Spawn is ‘cool’ and ‘badass.’ The last demand is that I am the director. That’s it. Everything else is up for conversation.” The Spawn creator obviously changed his tune regarding that last demand.
We all know Lady Gaga can belt out one hell of a tune, but the upcoming Joker: Folie À Deux will feature the singer as we’ve never heard her before. While speaking with Empire, Lady Gaga explained why she needed to reinvent her voice for her role as Harley Quinn/Lee in the Joker sequel.
“People know me by my stage name, Lady Gaga, right? That’s me as that performer, but that is not what this movie is; I’m playing a character,” she explained. “So I worked a lot on the way that I sang to come from Lee, and to not come from me as a performer. How do you take music and have it just be an extension of the dialogue, as opposed to breaking into song for no conceivable reason? It was unlike anything I’ve ever done before.“
Although Lady Gaga is an accomplished singer, the actress didn’t think her character would be on the same level, so she worked to make her vocal performance a little rougher than she normally would. “For me, there’s plenty of bum notes, actually, from Lee,” she said. “I’m a trained singer, right? So even my breathing was different when I sang as Lee. When I breathe to sing on stage, I have this very controlled way to make sure that I’m on pitch and it’s sustained at the right rhythm and amount of time, but Lee would never know how to do any of that. So it’s like removing the technicality of the whole thing, removing my perceived art-form from it all and completely being inside of who she is.“
Just days ago, a brand-new trailer for Joker: Folie À Deux was released, which really highlighted the musical aspect of the sequel. It’s been reported that the sequel will be something of a “jukebox musical” with “at least 15 reinterpretations of very well-known songs.“
In addition to Joaquin Phoenix and Lady Gaga, the Joker sequel also stars Brendan Gleeson, Catherine Keener, Jacob Lofland, and Harry Lawtey. Zazie Beetz also returns to reprise her role as Sophie Dumond from the first movie, a love interest for Arthur. Plot details are being kept under wraps, but it’s been said that much of the sequel will take place within Arkham Asylum, which is where we left Arthur in the last film. Joker: Folie à Deux will hit theaters on October 4th. Find out everything we know about the movie right here!
