Deadpool Xbox

Xbox has gone straight up Main Street, unveiling limited edition controllers promoting this summer’s Deadpool & Wolverine. And considering the sort of humor that the Merc with a Mouth gets off on, it should be no surprise that the controllers depict the rear ends of both characters. But don’t expect to ever see these in stores, as they are exclusively part of a sweepstakes.

While the Deadpool controller was unveiled last week, we are just now getting a sneak cheek – uh, we mean peek – at the one with Wolverine’s butt. As stated on Xbox’s website, “In anticipation of Marvel Studios’ “Deadpool & Wolverine” coming to theaters on July 26 and following the release of the Deadpool-designed custom Xbox Wireless Controller, fans around the globe clamored for Logan’s very own Adamantium-tough tush (on a controller, of course). And because we can’t resist a little friendly competition (certainly not due to fear of his temper), our team went straight into production on this custom Wolverine-inspired Xbox Wireless Controller.” In promotion of Wolverine getting a matching controller, a billboard was put up in Canada which depicted Wolverine sitting atop it with the wording, “My best bub’s cheeks never looked so good.” Certainly many female fans of Hugh Jackman would have to disagree…

So how can you go about getting your hands on the Deadpool and Wolverine Xbox controllers? The most recent Xbox update states that “coming soon” you’ll need to follow Microsoft on Instagram and keep an eye out for a promotional post with the hashtag #MicrosoftCheekySweepstakes. Keep in mind this is a bit different than the original promo for the Deadpool-specific giveaway, which you can find pics of and info for below:

But, as that post shows, the giveaway isn’t just about the controllers. If you get that grand prize, you’ll find yourself the owner of two custom Deadpool & Wolverine Xbox wireless controllers, a custom Xbox Series X and a custom console stand. The grand total value of these items is $859.98. The contest runs until August 11th.

Right now, Deadpool & Wolverine is easily leading the promo items game, with these Xbox controllers proving a fitting companion to the popcorn bucket, itself out-perving the Dune bucket.

Homicide: Life on the Street, streaming

Homicide: Life on the Street has been absent from streaming, but the critically acclaimed crime drama has finally found a new home and will launch next month. It has been announced that all seven seasons of Homicide: Life on the Street will be available on Peacock in the US starting on August 19th. All 122 episodes have been remastered for HD and 4K viewing, and Homicide: The Movie is also included.

The series was based on David Simon’s book Homicide: A Year on the Killing Streets and was created by Paul Attanasio. It followed the Baltimore Police Department’s Homicide Unit. Bleak and unglamorous, the show was praised for its more realistic treatment of detectives and their work; threads weren’t always tied up at the end, and criminals sometimes got away. It also boasted one hell of a cast, including Andre Braugher, Ned Beatty, Yaphett Kotto, Melissa Leo, Giancarlo Esposito, Clark Johnson, Daniel Baldwin, Jon Polito, Kyle Secor, Reed Diamond, Michelle Forbes, Jon Seda, Željko Ivanek, and many more. It was also the debut of Richard Belzer as John Munch, who would go on to join Law & Order: Special Victims Unit as the same character once Homicide came to an end.

David Simon teased last month that the show’s streaming debut was imminent now that the music rights had been sorted out. “Word is that NBC has managed to finally secure the music rights necessary to sell Homicide: Life On The Streets” to a streaming platform,” Simon wrote. “Andre, Richard, Yaphet, Ned, and so many others who labored on that wonderful show on both sides of the camera will soon regain a full share of their legacy.” He credited showrunner Tom Fontana, executive producer Barry Levinson, and producer Gail Mutrux for doing the work to get the show ready for streaming. “In the case of ‘Homicide, the [music] rights were negotiated long ago before streaming existed as a viewing platform,” Simon wrote. “A fair compensation for the new use needed to be negotiated.

For many, this streaming debut of Homicide: Life on the Street will be their first introduction to the series, and boy, are you in for a treat.

Bewmance, Alex Moffat, Kennedy McMann

I hope you’re thirsty because Saturday Night Live cast member Alex Moffat and Nancy Drew‘s Kennedy McMann are serving some fresh-brewed laughs with the upcoming indie comedy Brewmance. Keagan Karnes makes his directorial debut for the project from a screenplay by Mary Haarmeyer and Stafford Douglas.

According to Deadline, Brewmance “follows Amber, a headstrong brewery owner and Samuel, a slick marketing strategist, who clash over how to save her failing business. But as they stir up a plan to reinvent the brewery, they unexpectedly ferment their own love story.”

Amber? Samuel? I see what you did there.

Other cast members coming to clink glasses with Moffat and McMann include Steven Ogg (Better Call Saul, Emancipation), Zoe Colletti (The Family Plan, Annie, Scary Stories to Tell in the Dark), Jamey Maurice Clay (Santa’s Cousin), Caroline Kingsley (The Violet Hour), Kirk Roos (Santa’s Cousin), and Joel de la Fuenta (Man in the High Castle). New Mexico natives Hannah Mosqueda and Jessica N. Jimenez also star.

Alex Moffat appeared on Saturday Night Live for six years, portraying such characters as Eric Trump, Joe Biden, and Joe Scarborough. He’s involved in several upcoming film and television projects, including Summer of 69, starring Chloe Fineman, Natalie Morales, and Sam Morelos. Summer of 69 tells the story of Abby, who seeks to impress her crush by learning a specific sexual position and enlisting a stripper’s help. However, she realizes true self-discovery and lasting friendship are more valuable. Moffat also appears in the upcoming comedic drama A Little Bit Pregnant. The film, starring Will Forte, Lizze Broadway, and Brianne Howey, follows Lainey, who, jealous of her best friend’s pregnancy, begins to wear a false pregnant belly – and accidentally meets the man of her dreams.

Kennedy McMann starred as Nancy Drew from 2019 to 2023. In the show, young Nancy Drew plans to leave her hometown for college after graduating from high school but finds herself drawn into a supernatural murder mystery. While McMann frequently appears on the small screen or in short films, Brewmance makes her feature film debut.
