UPDATE: Last year, Arrow Video released the first four Hellraiser films in a 4K box set called Hellraiser: Quartet of Torment. That box set is now making its way to North America, with a release date of October 22nd in the US and Canada! For information on what’s contained in the set, check out the write-up on last year’s UK release below. It appears that everything from the UK set will be included in the North American set.

A couple years ago, screenwriter Peter Atkins – who worked on the scripts for the first three Hellraiser sequels – published his original screenplay for the famously troubled fourth film, Hellraiser: Bloodline (the script is available for purchase at THIS LINK), saying, “Whilst you’ll never get to see a Director’s Cut of Hellraiser: Bloodline, you can read in this book what was supposed to be…” But even though the production was too complicated for us to ever see a proper director’s cut, there is a “newly uncovered workprint version” – and it’s going to be included in Arrow Video’s upcoming 4K box set release of the first four Hellraiser movies!

Here’s the information on the films: We Have Such Sights To Show You… In the 1980s, Clive Barker changed the face of horror fiction, throwing out the rules to expose new vistas of terror and beauty, expanding the horizons for every genre writer who followed him. With Hellraiser, his first feature film, he did the same for cinema. Hedonist Frank Cotton (Sean Chapman) thinks he has reached the limits of earthly pleasure. But a mysterious puzzle box will take him further than he can possibly imagine, opening the doors to a dominion where pain and pleasure are indivisible and summoning the Cenobites, whose experiments in the higher reaches of experience will tear his soul apart. When he manages to escape, Frank returns to the world skinless and in need of help. Now his former lover Julia (Clare Higgins) must kill to make him whole again. But the Cenobites want Frank back, and there’ll be hell to pay when they find him.

Hellbound: Hellraiser II expands on Barker’s original vision as screenwriter Peter Atkins takes Julia Cotton, her step daughter Kirsty (Ashley Laurence) and the sinister Dr. Channard (Kenneth Cranham) into the dominion of the Cenobites themselves. Hellraiser III: Hell on Earth sees Pinhead set loose on the sinful streets of New York City to create chaos with a fresh cadre of Cenobitic kin. Then, Hellraiser: Bloodline sinks its hooks into past, present and future with the story of Phillip LeMarchand, the 18th-century toymaker who made the lament configuration puzzle box, his descendent John Merchant – a 20th-century architect whose most recent building bears a striking resemblance to the lament configuration – and Dr. Paul Merchant, a 22nd-century engineer and designer of The Minos, a space station which is a great deal more than it seems.

Twenty-seven years after the release of the the slasher I Know What You Did Last Summer (watch it HERE) and twenty-six years after the follow-up I Still Know What You Did Last Summer (watch that one HERE), Jennifer Love Hewitt and Freddie Prinze Jr. might be reprising the roles of Julie James and Ray Bronson in a new sequel, which is set for a July 18, 2025 release date… and while we’ve seen other franchises bring back original stars while ignoring previous sequels, this new film’s director Jennifer Kaytin Robinson (Do Revenge) has confirmed that the events of I Still Know What You Did Last Summer are canon and will be part of Julie and Ray’s back story in this sequel.

In response to an X post that said the new I Know What You Did Last Summer sequel “is reportedly ignoring previous sequels,” Robinson said, “It is definitely not. ISKWYDLS is canon. Hope this helps.” That said, it wouldn’t be surprising if this movie does ignore the poorly received direct-to-video sequel I’ll Always Know What You Did Last Summer, which left Julie and Ray out but did feature a supernatural version of the killer from the first two movies.

Robinson will be directing the film from a screenplay by Leah McKendrick (M.F.A.), and McKendrick told Collider a while back that the new sequel will reckon with “some big ideas about hero and villain, right and wrong, how your skeletons come back to haunt you. And in the age of the internet and the age where fame is such a revered concept, the creation of TikTok and social media, who is Julie James in a world where there are no secrets anymore?“ McKendrick also said that when she went in to pitch her take to Sony, the most important things they wanted to hear about were “the accident, the event that kicks it off, and who the killer is.“

I Know What You Did Last Summer was directed by Jim Gillespie from a screenplay by Kevin Williamson that was inspired by a Lois Duncan novel. The film has the following synopsis: A year after running over a fisherman and dumping his body in the water, four friends reconvene when Julie (Jennifer Love Hewitt) receives a frightening letter telling her that their crime was seen. While pursuing who he thinks is responsible for the letter, Barry (Ryan Phillippe) is run over by a man with a meat hook. The bloodletting only increases from there, as the killer with the hook continues to stalk Julie, Helen (Sarah Michelle Gellar) and Ray (Freddie Prinze Jr.).

I Still Know What You Did Last Summer was directed by Danny Cannon from a screenplay by Trey Callaway. The synopsis: A year after killing vengeful hit-and-run victim Ben Wills (Muse Watson), who gutted her friends with an iron hook, college student Julie James (Jennifer Love Hewitt) is still shaken by the experience. When her roommate, Karla (Brandy), wins a vacation for four to the Bahamas, she plans to bring along her boyfriend, Tyrell (Mekhi Phifer), attractive Will (Matthew Settle) and Julie. At the resort, Julie starts receiving threatening notes and realizes Ben is still alive.

Hewitt and Prinze are known to be in talks to return as Julie and Ray. While we wait for confirmation that their deals have closed, we know that Camila Mendes (Riverdale), Madelyn Cline (Outer Banks), Sarah Pidgeon (Tiny Beautiful Things), Tyriq Withers (Atlanta), and Jonah Hauer-King (The Little Mermaid) have signed on to star in the film.

Although Saturday Night Live is the institution that it is now and remains divisive with audiences, Jason Reitman will be bringing the story of the original plucky cast of SNL from 1975 as he directed and co-wrote a screenplay with Gil Keenan of the now-titled Saturday Night. Saturday Night will explore the evening of October 11, 1975, when “a ferocious troupe of young comedians and writers changed television forever. Saturday Night is the true story of what happened behind the scenes that night in the moments leading up to the first broadcast of NBC’s Saturday Night Live. It depicts the chaos and magic of a revolution that almost wasn’t, counting down the minutes in real-time to the infamous words, ‘Live from New York, it’s Saturday Night!’”

Deadline has reported that the project, formally known as just SNL 1975, has taken on Saturday Night as its official title and Columbia Pictures has now scheduled a release date for the film. The movie will be hitting screens on October 11, which will be nearly 50 years after that first banner pilot episode premiered on TV tube screens on NBC.

The new not-ready-for-primetime-players include Gabriel LaBelle (as Lorne Michaels), Dylan O’Brien (Dan Aykroyd), Cory Michael Smith (Chevy Chase), Rachel Sennott (Rosie Shuster), Lamorne Morris (Garrett Morris), Nicholas Braun (Jim Henson), Finn Wolfhard (NBC page), Jon Batiste (Billy Preston), Ella Hunt (Gilda Radner), Cooper Hoffman (Dick Ebersol), Andrew Barth Feldman (Neil Levy), Naomi McPherson (Janis Ian), Willem Dafoe (David Tebet), J.K. Simmons (Milton Berle) and Kaia Gerber (Jacqueline Carlin)

Reitman and Kenan’s script takes inspiration from interviews they recorded with living members of the SNL cast, writers, and crew. Anyone who knows anything about Saturday Night Live knows how chaotic and unpredictable the show can be, including breaks in character, last-minute script changes, inexperienced guests, and technical snafus.

Reitman and Kenan had also teamed up with original cast member Dan Aykroyd for Ghostbusters: Frozen Empire, which was one of the bigger hits of this year as it pulled in $113.3 million domestic and $201.8 million at the global box office after its release in March.

Reitman, Kenan, Jason Blumenfeld, Erica Mills, and Peter Rice are producing.

Longlegs star Nicolas Cage voiced the Marvel Comics character Spider-Man Noir in the animated feature Spider-Man: Into the Spider-Verse, and now he’s set to play the character in live-action for an upcoming MGM+ and Prime Video series that’s going by the title Spider-Noir. We’ve been hearing casting updates on this one here and there in recent weeks, learning that Cage is joined in the cast by Brendan Gleeson as the villain, Li Jun Li as a singer at a high-end nightclub, and Lamorne Morris as journalist Robbie Robertson. Now industry scooper Daniel Richtman has shared several character breakdowns, giving a preview of the characters we’ll be seeing on this show.

We already know that Spider-Noir will see Cage taking on the role of an aging and down on his luck private investigator in 1930s New York who is forced to grapple with his past life as the city’s one and only superhero. Now here’s some more information:

Ben Reilly: A retired superhero with the powers of Spider-Man who is too old and broken, both figuratively and literally, to suit up the way he used to. Instead, he takes low-level PI cases and stays out of the ones that involve high-profile names, like that of the Mayor. Through flashbacks, we find out about his past heroics, and past failures, that led him to this point. He is charming, but weathered, and the pilot does an excellent job of setting him up for a good character arc moving forward.

Yuri Watanabe: A stage singer with unknown ties to crime organizations in New York City, including that of the mayor. Her character exists entirely through the eyes of Ben Reilly in the pilot, but there is an interesting larger story set up for her in the pages. In the comics, Yuri Watanabe is also known as the vigilante Wraith.

Flint Marko, aka Sandman: A hired goon working for Yuri, but he has an unknown condition that causes him to turn into the Sandman. When he switches between identities, he has no memories of what the alter ego did while in control. It seems a decent amount of the story will revolve around him, and there is a lot of potential for this character to be a fan-favorite.

Robbie Robertson: A reporter and friend of Ben Reilly’s. Not a lot of depth to the character in the pilot but has fan-favorite potential written all over him.

Mayor Delgado: A corrupt politician whose motivations and past are entirely unknown. The character exists as a setup for future episodes, likely as the main villain.

Silvermane: An ageing crime boss whose plans to retire are thrown out the window after his mansion is burned down. It appears that he will be one of the other major antagonists of the series.

Janet: Ben Reilly’s secretary/second-in-command. Think Joan from Mad Men.

Edward Addison: A man who can catch himself on fire with no harm to his body, and one of the Macguffins for the plot.

Delgado: Another PI that has a good working relationship with Ben Reilly.

Spider-Noir is expected to consist of eight 45 minute episodes. Cage has said, “One of the things that I like about this potential show is that it’s fantasy. It’s not really people beating people up. Monsters are involved.“

Spider-Noir comes to us from Oren Uziel (22 Jump Street) and Steve Lightfoot (Marvel’s The Punisher), who will serve as co-showrunners and executive producers. Harry Bradbeer (Killing Eve) will direct and executive produce the first two episodes. Uziel and Lightfoot developed the series alongside Phil Lord, Christopher Miller, and Amy Pascal, the team behind the Spider-Verse movies. Lord, Miller, and Pascal will also serve as executive producers on Spider-Noir.

Earlier this month, it was announced that Nava Mau has earned an Emmy nomination (in the Outstanding Supporting Actress in a Limited or Anthology Series or Movie category) for her breakthrough performance as the lead character’s love interest Teri in the hit Netflix series Baby Reindeer. Now Deadline has broken the news that Mau is making her way over to another popular Netflix series, joining the cast of You for its fifth and final season. Mau’s You season 5 character is the guest star role of Detective Marquez.

We know Penn Badgley is coming back for You season 5 as the lead character Joe Goldberg, and it’s probably a good bet that season 4’s Charlotte Ritchie will continue to have a prominent role in this final season. (Ritchie plays heiress Kate Galvin, who ended up in a relationship with Joe at the end of season 4.) It has previously been announced that Madeline Brewer of The Handmaid’s Tale will have a series regular role in the new batch of episodes, and so do Anna Camp of the Pitch Perfect films and Griffin Matthews of The Flight Attendant. Camp will actually be playing two different characters, as she has been cast as both Raegan and Maddie Lockwood, twin sisters-in-law to Joe Goldberg.

We don’t have a full description of Mau’s Detective Marquez, but we have descriptions for the other characters. The new character being played by Brewer is Bronte, an enigmatic and free-spirited playwright who comes to work for Joe Goldberg at his bookstore. As the two connect over literature and loss, she stokes in him a nostalgia for his former self, causing him to question everything his life has become. Matthews’ character is Teddy Lockwood, the “snarky yet loyal brother-in-law of Joe Goldberg. A confidante who was never fully accepted by the Lockwood family, Teddy brings authenticity and empathy to a family for whom such things are a foreign concept.“ And Camp’s characters: “Raegan is the cunning, cutthroat CFO of the Lockwood Corp who has her eyes on the throne and will crush any adversary… be them family or not. Maddie, on the other hand, presents as the unserious twin, a thrice-divorced socialite whose job is ‘vaguely PR.’ But make no mistake, a master manipulator lies underneath Maddie’s frivolous façade.“

While executive producers Greg Berlanti and Sarah Schechter said that You was always intended to be a “five season journey”, showrunner Sera Gamble decided not to guide the journey to its conclusion. Although she remains attached as an executive producer, she has passed showrunner duties over to fellow executive producers Michael Foley and Justin W. Lo. Thankfully, Foley and Lo are no strangers to You. They have been working on the series since season 1 and season 2, respectively.

Based on a series of novels by Caroline Kepnes (take a look at her work HERE), You was developed by Gamble and Berlanti. The show centers on Joe Goldberg, a man who will do just about anything when love is at stake.

Horizon: An American Saga is a passion project of Kevin Costner’s that has definitely shaken up his life. With talks about how his self-financing the project and lengthy shooting schedule affected his personal life and his hit show Yellowstone, Costner put a lot on the line for this series of films. The drama would not end by Chapter 1‘s release, as the lackluster performance of that first film at the box office prompted Warner Bros. to suspend the planned release of Chapter 2. This decision is a devastating blow for both Costner and fans of the first movie as the story is largely a setup for future chapters.

While it remains to be seen how and when the studio plans to release Chapter 2, according to The Hollywood Reporter, this next entry in the saga will be getting a world premiere at the Venice Film Festival out-of-competition on September 7, which is almost a month after its initial intended wide theater release. Additionally, Chapter 1 will also be screened at the festival on the same day after that film had received a ten-minute standing ovation from the audience at the Cannes premiere back in May. Chapter 2 would be bringing back the ensemble cast that includes Sienna Miller, Sam Worthington, Jena Malone and Danny Huston.

According to THR, with this premiere announcement, Costner states, “My dream was always to show Horizon: An American Saga – Chapter Two at the Venice Film Festival. The fact that now they have decided to show Chapter One earlier in the day and then the World Premiere of Chapter Two that evening shows not only their belief in how the two films work together but their support of a director’s vision.”

The Horizon director and star continued to say, “I’m indebted to [Venice Film Fest director] Alberto Barbera for his courage and leadership in committing to this cinematic journey. It is with gratitude and excitement that I return to the Venice Film Festival. Long live the movies and those willing to stand for them.”
