Claudia Doumit

Claudia Doumit, who is best known for playing congresswoman Victoria Neuman on the Prime Video series The Boys, is the latest to join the cast of SOULM8TE, which is “a new movie in the M3GAN universe” that is set to reach theatres on January 2, 2026. We’ve previously heard that the film is set to star Evil Dead Rise actress Lily Sullivan and David Rysdahl, whose credits include Fargo season 5, The Family, No Exit, Black Mirror, Oppenheimer, and Booger. The news of Doumit’s involvement was broken by Deadline today.

As mentioned, SOULM8TE is set in the same world as the 2022 film M3GAN and its upcoming sequel M3GAN 2.0, which is aiming for a June 27, 2025 theatrical release. These films come from the recently merged companies Atomic Monster (headed up by James Wan) and Blumhouse Productions (headed up by Jason Blum).

James Wan, his wife Ingrid Bisu, and Rafael Jordan (Salvage Marines) crafted the story for this one, with Jordan writing the first draft of the screenplay. Kate Dolan (You Are Not My Mother) is on board to direct the film and has done her own rewrite of the script. SOULM8TE will show us what happens when a man acquires an Artificially Intelligent android to cope with the loss of his recently deceased wife. In an attempt to create a truly sentient partner, he inadvertently turns a harmless lovebot into a deadly soulmate. Rysdahl is playing the man, while Sullivan plays the android. Details on the role Doumit will be playing have not been revealed.

James Wan and Jason Blum are producing SOULM8TE, while Michael Clear and Judson Scott of Atomic Monster serve as executive producers with with Ingrid Bisu. Alayna Glasthal is the executive leading the project for Atomic Monster.

Dolan previously provided the following statement: “Fundamentally, I view this film as an exploration of relationships and loneliness. Despite technological advances, there are enduring human truths we cannot escape, and I am looking forward to delving into those depths.” Wan added: “SOULM8TE is a thrilling and seductive addition to the M3GAN universe. We’re excited to partner with Kate to bring this story to life with her unique cinematic vision and point of view.

SOULM8TE is being described as a 1990s erotic thriller with a new technological twist.

Continuing her well-established working relationship with Netflix, Stranger Things and Enola Holmes star Millie Bobby Brown is adapting her debut novel, Nineteen Steps, with the high-profile streamer. In addition to producing the feature-length project, Brown plans to star in the movie, which has a screenplay by Anthony McCarten (The Theory of Everything).

William Morrow published Brown’s novel, which became a New York Times and Sunday Times bestseller. Brown partnered with Kathleen McGurl to adapt the story, focusing on Mellie Morris, an 18-year-old girl living in the East London neighborhood of Bethnal Green.

Here’s a synopsis for Millie Bobby Brown’s Nineteen Steps courtesy of Amazon:

It’s 1942, and air raid sirens continue to wail around London. Eighteen-year-old Nellie Morris counts every day lucky that she emerges from the underground shelters unharmed, her loving family still surrounding her.

After a chance encounter with Ray, an American airman stationed nearby, she becomes enchanted with the idea of a broader world. Just as she begins to embrace an exciting new life with Ray, a terrible incident occurs during an air raid one evening, tearing her world apart. But when it seems all hope is lost, Nellie finds that, against all odds, love and happiness can triumph.

Known famously for her Stranger Things role, Millie Bobby Brown is a woman wearing many hats in Hollywood. She starred in Netflix’s Damsel earlier this year, in which she squares off against a terrible beast after being offered up as a sacrifice by a handsome prince, while a third film in the Enola Holmes series is in pre-production with Harry Bradbeer directing. Additionally, Brown is preparing to star in Joe and Anthony Russo’s The Electric State, a dystopian sci-fi adventure starring Chris Pratt, Ke Huy Quan, Stanley Tucci, and Jenny Slate. In The Electric State, an orphaned teen travels the American West with a sweet but mysterious robot and eccentric drifter searching for her younger brother.

With a star as bright as Brown’s, Netflix is in a prime position to host any projects she spins up. Brown wades into sensitive territory with Nineteen Steps, and fans are eager to see how the novel translates to screens.

Who’s ready to smash priceless pottery, evoke ancient curses, and brave uncharted territory with one of gaming history’s most iconic heroes? If you’re raising your hand, I’ve got a treat for you. Today, Netflix’s Tomb Raider: The Legend of Lara Croft trailer gives us a fantastic look at the streamer’s upcoming animated series starring Hayley Atwell (Captain America: The First Avenger, Mission: Impossible – Dead Reckoning) as the indomitable Lara Croft! Netflix’s Tomb Raider: The Legend of Lara Croft trailer gives fans of the British explorer everything they could want in a pulse-pounding adaptation of the famed interactive action-adventure franchise, and as a fan of Lara’s from day one, I’m freaking out, y’all!

Tomb Raider: The Legend of Lara Croft, Hayley Atwell, Netflix, trailer

Here’s the official synopsis for Tomb Raider: The Legend of Lara Croft courtesy of Netflix:

The animated series Tomb Raider: The Legend of Lara Croft picks up after the events of the highly successful Tomb Raider video game Survivor trilogy (Tomb Raider; Rise of the Tomb Raider; Shadow of the Tomb Raider), and will chart the globetrotting heroine’s next chapter as the iconic adventurer. More than 25 years after her first appearance, Lara Croft (voiced by Hayley Atwell) continues to explore ancient mysteries and uncover lost truths across breathtaking and dangerous destinations.

Following the events of the Survivor series, Lara Croft has abandoned her friends to embark on increasingly more perilous solo adventures. But she must return home when a dangerous and powerful Chinese artifact is stolen from Croft Manor by a thief with an uncanny personal connection. Her daring pursuit will take her on an adventure around the world and to the depths of forgotten tombs, where she will be forced to confront her true self and decide just what kind of hero she wants to become.

The all-new animated Netflix series features the voices of Hayley Atwell (Lara Croft), Allen Maldonado (Zip), Earl Baylon (reprising his role as Jonah from Tomb Raider video games). Additional voices to be announced.

From Legendary Television, Tomb Raider: The Legend of Lara Croft is executive produced and written by Tasha Huo (The Witcher: Blood Origin, Red Sonja). Executive producers include dj2 Entertainment Founder and CEO Dmitri M. Johnson (Sonic the Hedgehog, Life is Strange), along with Timothy I. Stevenson; Jacob Robinson (Skull Island) under his company Tractor Pants; and Dallas Dickinson and Noah Hughes for Crystal Dynamics; as well as Howard Bliss and Jen Chambers. Powerhouse Animation is the Animation Studio, with Brad Graeber serving as executive producer.

Hayley Atwell joins Angelina Jolie and Alicia Vikander in the pantheon of actresses playing Lara Croft for an adaptation of the fearless explorer’s antics. Lara’s been uncovering ancient secrets long before Uncharted‘s Nathan Drake and Netflix’s Tomb Raider: The Legend of Lara Croft looks to finally do the character justice with jaw-dropping animation, dynamic sound design, and thrilling set pieces. I can’t think of a better actress to voice Lara than Hayley Atwell, a woman of class, immense talent, and badassery. Could this be the adaptation fans have waited decades to see? We’ll find out when all eight series episodes come to Netflix on October 10.
