After banking over one billion dollars at the box office with Greta Gerwig’s joyous Barbie movie, Margot Robbie is ready to embark on ABig Bold Beautiful Journey in 2025. The Kogonada-directed (After Yang, Pachinko) drama opens on May 9, 2025,during Mother’s Day weekend. The newly-announced release date finds A Big Bold Beautiful Journey arriving in theaters one week after the theatrical debut of Marvel Studios‘ Thunderbolts*, which hits cinemas on May 2, 2025. Some could say it’s a bold move to go toe-to-toe with one of Marvel’s action blockbusters, especially after the overwhelming success of the studio’s Deadpool & Wolverine, which has banked over one billion at the box office.
Kogonada directs A Big Bold Beautiful Journey from a script by Seth Reiss. The film reportedly focuses on two strangers and how their paths align unexpectedly. Lily Rabe, Jodie Turner-Smith, Phoebe Waller-Bridge, and Hamish Linklater join the cast alongside Margot Robbie and Colin Farrell.
The release date for Robbie’s female-focused film project comes as Blake Lively’s It Ends With Us clears $100 million at the box office on a $25 million budget. Before Margot Robbie signed on for A Big Bold Beautiful Journey, the actress said she was considering taking a short break from acting out of fear that people would get sick of her.
“This is the longest I haven’t acted on a set because we finished Barbie in October of 2022,” Robbie revealed. “So, it’s already been more than a year since I was on set as an actor, and other than Covid, that’s the first time that’s ever happened.” Robbie told Deadline in January. It would seem that enough time has ticked by for Robbie to get back in front of the cameras, and with Colin Farrell as her co-star, it’s shaping up to be one hell of a return.
I can’t imagine a world where I’d get sick of seeing Margot Robbie. She’s popped up in many films over the past few years, but she’s always a joy to watch. Whether she’s bashing in the skulls of child killers in James Gunn’s The Suicide Squad or giving the world a power pink wake-up call in Barbie, she brings a unique energy to any project she’s a part of. I say let her cook!

This year marks the 40th anniversary of writer/director Wes Craven’s horror classic A Nightmare on Elm Street – and, as we’ve previously reported, Warner Bros. is celebrating the film’s anniversary by giving it a 4K Blu-ray release on October 1st! A trailer for the 4K release has dropped online, and you can check it out in the embed above. While it’s great that the original A Nightmare on Elm Street is coming to 4K, one thing we’ve heard zero news about is the possibility of a new Elm Street movie going into production any time soon. Speaking to our friends at Bloody Disgusting, Elm Street heroine Heather Langenkamp (who played Nancy Thompson in the first and third films, then played a version of herself in Wes Craven’s New Nightmare) said it’s a shame there’s no new movie news to share… especially since she believes that Robert Englund still has it in him, despite his statements to the contrary, to play dream stalker Freddy Krueger one more time.
Langenkamp said, “These fans are dying for another episode of this incredible story about Freddy and hopefully Nancy. I think it’s a little bit of cold comfort to get a remastered 4K when truly, in the hearts of so many people that I talked to, what they really want is a sequel or some kind of new installment of this epic. That’s the bittersweet part about this whole thing. It’s so great to get something on the 40th anniversary that people can collect. So much has gone into keeping the spirit of Nightmare on Elm Street alive. I’m hoping the next thing that Warner Bros. focuses on is recreating Freddy Krueger in a way that all of us can really enjoy in a new movie. … I’ve recently gone out with (Englund), and he has a ton of energy. He’s a person that I can barely keep up with on our jaunts around the country. If he can’t do it, nobody can; that’s what I like to say. Until I see him with his walker stumbling down the street, I’m pretty sure Robert Englund can play Freddy Krueger.”
In A Nightmare on Elm Street, several Midwestern teenagers fall prey to Freddy Krueger, a disfigured midnight mangler who preys on the teenagers in their dreams — which, in turn, kills them in reality. After investigating the phenomenon, Nancy begins to suspect that a dark secret kept by her and her friends’ parents may be the key to unraveling the mystery, but can Nancy and her boyfriend Glen solve the puzzle before it’s too late?
Englund and Langenkamp were joined in the cast by Johnny Depp, Amanda Wyss, John Saxon, Ronee Blakley, and Nick Corri.
Would you like to see Heather Langenkamp and Robert Englund in a new A Nightmare on Elm Street movie? And will you be buying the 4K release of the original film? Let us know by leaving a comment below.
By the power of Grayskull! Amazon’s Masters of the Universe movie is gathering warriors to repel Skeletor and his merry band of minions for a new He-Man movie! After casting The Idea of You star Nicholas Galitzine as Prince Adam, aka He-Man, we hear that Riverdale and Do Revenge star Camila Mendes is armoring up as Teela for the anticipated live-action adaptation.
While there hasn’t been a live-action adaptation of Mattel’s Masters of the Universe since the Gary Goddard-directed classic starring Dolph Lundgren as the chiseled warrior from Eternia, Amazon MGM Studios and Mattel Films are pulling out all the stops by getting Laika Studios CEO and filmmaker Travis Knight (Kubo and the Two Strings, Bumblebee) to direct the latest attempt to bring a flesh-and-blood He-Man to screens.
Plot details for Knight’s Masters of the Universe remain a mystery. However, you can count on the live-action adventure revolving around Prince Adam of Eternia, who transforms into the brave hero He-Man thanks to his Power Sword. While riding atop his trusty companion, Battle Cat, He-Man uses his superhuman strength and courage to defend Eternia from Skeletor and his evil forces.
Camila Mendes plays Teela in the forthcoming film, the captain of the royal guard and the adopted daughter of Man-at-Arms, the royal family’s weapons inventor. Teela and He-Man have joined forces to combat evil in the past. Some storylines find He-Man and Teela becoming a couple. Still, protecting the kingdom of Eternia is always paramount to any um… biological urges.
Many know Camila Mendes as Veronica from The CW’s Riverdale. Mendes played the classic character on the network’s decidedly steamy Archie reimagining from 2017 to 2023, when the show concluded after seven seasons. Earlier this year, Mendes starred alongside Archie Renaux and Marissa Tomei in Prime Video‘s romantic comedy Upgraded. The hilarious and heartfelt rom-com focuses on Ana, who gets upgraded to first class on a work trip, where she meets Will, who mistakes Ana for her boss, Claire. A white lie then sets off a glamorous chain of events, romance, and opportunity until her fib threatens to surface.
As a fan of Goddard’s 1987 Masters of the Universe and an even bigger fan of Travis Knight, I’m excited to see how this project shakes out. How about you? Are you looking forward to seeing Camila Mendes in Amazon’s Masters of the Universe? Let us know in the comments section below.
The more I sit with it, the more confident I am that Bloodborne may actually be my favorite game of all time. It’s got some stiff competition, but my mind just comes back to FromSoftware’s deeply gothic (and maternal) nightmare more often than it does anything else. It’s also one of the studio’s most accessible games…
