agatha all along

Now that the spooky season is upon us, the Marvel Universe will be getting in on the wicked fun with Kathryn Hahn’s new horror series Agatha All Along. The WandaVision spin-off follows not only Agatha Harkness, but a whole coven of witches. Entertainment Weekly has a new preview for what’s in store for viewers on this upcoming season of the show. As WandaVision took audiences through the different eras of family sitcoms, Agatha All Along will similarly play with tributes to the famous witches of pop culture history.

Hahn talks about how the show gave her the privilege of emulating one of the most famous of characters — the Wicked Witch of the West from The Wizard of Oz. Hahn stated that it “was also a childhood dream come true.” Meanwhile, her co-star, Patti LuPone, would don numerous crowns as Glinda, “I think I speak for a lot of us, we were breathless when we got to see Patti as a good witch for that first time,” Hahn recalls. “It was so dear and perfect, and just the sweetest thing — not words that you would normally [use to] describe this powerhouse on a stage.”

Another sequence in the show will see the coven face one of many trials as “a Fleetwood Mac-style band.” Showrunner Jac Schaeffer explained, “We’re in ‘Season of the Witch’ and that kind of thing. It doesn’t have that same abundantly clear thread, but it was our system to be able to pull that fun into the show.” Agatha’s witch coven will be in their Stevie Nicks “white witch”-era during this part of the trial, and it is said that the scene will involve a bit of music.

Here’s the official synopsis from Disney:
In Marvel Studios’ Agatha All Along, the infamous Agatha Harkness finds herself down and out of power after a suspicious goth Teen helps break her free from a distorted spell. Her interest is piqued when he begs her to take him on the legendary Witches’ Road, a magical gauntlet of trials that, if survived, rewards a witch with what they’re missing. Together, Agatha and this mysterious Teen pull together a desperate coven, and set off down, down, down The Road…

Agatha All Along begins casting a spell on Disney+ on September 18, 2024, to lead into the Halloween holiday.

Bosch, Season 3

After traversing a long and winding road, the saga of detective Harry Bosch is coming to an end with the conclusion of Bosch: Legacy Season 3. Michael Connelly, whose Harry Bosch novels serve as source material for the series, announced on Instagram on Friday that the latest iteration of the character’s episodic exploits is ending.

“It’s been an amazing run with this character so far,” Connelly wrote. “There’s that over-used phrase ‘It takes a village,’ so I’ll just say, it takes at least a whole town to make a show like this. We’ve had the best people up and down the call sheet. Actors, writers, directors, producers, and all the crew tried to make something special, and they certainly did. I’m very proud of what we did.”

While fans could be upset about the cancelation of Bosch: Legacy, Connelly is thrilled about how actor Titus Welliver brought the character to life, beginning with the original series in 2014. “He became the full embodiment of Harry Bosch and that was the magic that fueled 10 seasons. As the guy who writes the books, I can’t tell you how lucky I got when he signed on.”

Thankfully, Bosch: Legacy Season 3 won’t be the last time we step foot on Connelly’s police procedural. A spinoff revolving around the cold case detective Renee Ballard, played by Maggie Q (The Divergent series, Priest, The Family Plan), is developing at Prime Video.

Vernon Sanders, head of television for Amazon MGM Studios, could not be more pleased with the show’s performance and is thankful to all involved who helped bring Bosch’s hard-boiled drama series to life on the small screen. “For ten years, ‘Bosch’ and ‘Bosch: Legacy’ have been two of our most defining series for Prime Video, Freevee, and Amazon MGM Studios. They are a testament to the enduring power of the storytelling universe that Michael Connelly built for the fans,” said Sanders. “We are proud of the impact these series have made, and we are excited that Michael, Titus, Henrik and the creative team have more engaging stories to tell in the ‘Bosch’ world with the final season of ‘Bosch: Legacy,’ our new Ballard series and more to come.”

Godzilla Minus One

The official Toho film, Godzilla Minus One, took the world by storm by not only making a big splash in its native Japanese market, but the film would do gangbusters in its humble releasing in America. It took some time before the critically acclaimed Kaiju film would finally be available for home audiences. Amid all the quick digital releases from big Hollywood films this year, Godzilla Minus One was one title that built proper anticipation for fans wanting to rewatch the movie.

Although the movie would surprisingly drop on Netflix, a 4K Steelbook Blu-ray was also made available for pre-order. Collider has now revealed that the 4K release has found a date. According to ComicBook, Godzilla Minus One‘s steelbook will be available at retailers on November 3.

The Special Features for this new release includes:

  • Dolby Vision/HDR presentation of the film
  • Japanese Dolby Atmos audio track
  • English Dolby TrueHD 5.1 audio track
  • Behind the Scenes: Godzilla Minus One – No. 30
  • Original Trailers
  • Original TV Spots:
    • A Ray of Hope
    • Worldwide Praise
    • Live and Hope
  • Optional English and Japanese subtitles for the main feature

You can grab yours now on Amazon; however, the 4K Steelbook edition quickly sold out at launch, so fans of the film will have to be patient for restocks.

Godzilla Minus One has received widespread acclaim since its release last year, with some even saying it could be the best kaiju movie ever made. The film also won Best Visual Effects at the 96th Academy Awards, making it the first Godzilla movie ever to be nominated and then win an Oscar. Steven Spielberg is also a big fan of the movie, which thrilled Yamazaki. “Steven Spielberg said, ‘Oh, you’re the director of Godzilla. I saw it three times.’ I couldn’t believe it, because Spielberg is like a god to me, just for what he’s done for the film industry,” Yamazaki said. “But it sounded very real. [Spielberg went on to say,] ‘I saw it once in my home, and then I had to go see it again in IMAX, then Dolby Atmos.’ You can’t make that up.“
