John Wick 4, runtime, Keanu Reeves

Good grief! Where does the time go? We’re approaching the 10th anniversary of John Wick, and I can feel the flesh falling from my bones as it feels like yesterday that Keanu Reeve’s Baba Yaga broke the action movie mold with a non-stop neo-noir classic that breathed new life into the beloved genre. The film that started one of Hollywood’s most aspiring franchises, John Wick, is returning to cinemas for a two-night-only event, and tickets are on sale now! To help announce the upcoming event, Lionsgate unleashed a John Wick 10th Anniversary trailer, which reminds audiences how the character’s journey began and how the franchise has grown since its inception.

John Wick roars into theaters on November 3 & 6 for its 10th anniversary. The Thunder Road/87eleven production John Wick tells the now-legendary story of the retired assassin’s (Keanu Reeves) quest for vengeance after thugs steal his car and kill his puppy, triggering the furious reemergence of the world’s deadliest and most-feared hitman. John Wick is directed by Chad Stahelski, written by Derek Kolstad, and produced by Basil Iwanyk, David Leitch, Eva Longoria, and Michael Witherill.

Fans attending the Fathom screenings will be treated to more from the mythic John Wick universe with an exclusive sneak peek at Ballerina, which takes place during the events of John Wick: Chapter 3 – Parabellum, following Eve Macarro (Ana de Armas) as she begins her training in the assassin traditions of the Ruska Roma.

You can purchase tickets for the event at Fathom Events or participating theater box office. For a complete list of theater locations, visit the Fathom Events website (theater locations are subject to change).

The legend of John Wick continues to grow after the franchise was expanded to video games, pinball machines, a TV series, feature-length spinoffs, and more. It’s challenging to think of an action film that has been more influential than John Wick in the past decade. Think about it: How often have you heard the words, “It’s like John Wick and…” Studios continue to search for a John Wick-like franchise of their own, but to no avail. Something as wicked as the John Wick movies only comes along occasionally, and now it’s time to celebrate the Boogieman again!

Will you celebrate the 10th anniversary of John Wick in theaters in November? Which movie from the franchise is your favorite? Let us know in the comments section below.

The Beauty, FX, Ryan Murphy, Evan Peters

Right now, two of the hottest tickets in Hollywood are video game and comic book adaptations. Everyone wants a piece, whether it’s The Last of Us, Twisted Metal, The Umbrella Academy, or Watchmen. The fact remains that copious amounts of stories are ripe for adaptations, and Ryan Murphy‘s got his sights on Image Comics’ The Beauty, created by Jeremy Haun and Jason A. Hurley. FX is giving Ryan Murphy’s The Beauty a series order, with Evan Peters, Anthony Ramos, Ashton Kutcher, and Jeremy Pope attached to star.

Murphy and Matt Hodgson co-created, wrote, and executive-produced the 11-episode season, which begins production this fall. Peters, Ramos, and Pope executive produced it. While details about the series remain a mystery, the official synopsis for The Beauty Vol. 1 reads:

“Imagine a sexually transmitted disease that makes those infected better looking… a disease people want. That disease is real, and it’s called the Beauty. Two years after the Beauty burst onto the scene, over half of America is infected. Now, it looks like the downside may be far worse than anyone suspected. Detectives Drew Vaughn and Kara Foster find themselves on the front line of the battle against the Beauty, embroiled in a conspiracy they never knew existed.”

According to Deadline, The Beauty calls for a male and female lead, which makes sense if you’ve read the comic book series. The hunt is on for a female lead to play Detective Kara Foster, while Evan Peters will likely play Detective Drew Vaughn. Kutcher’s involvement with the series began before the recent arrest and indictment of Sean “Diddy” Combs on charges of sex trafficking and racketeering. Analysts expect Combs’ case to worsen for the music industry mogul as more information comes to light. One aspect of the case putting the public on edge concerns those known to travel inside Combs’ orbit. Kutcher has had a long relationship with Combs, but authorities do not suspect him of wrongdoing.

Murphy and Hodgson have plenty of material to pull from Haun and Hurley’s six-volume series. The Beauty is a disturbing look at modern beauty standards, the urgency of preventing sexually transmitted diseases, and the lengths people will go to gain acceptance from a judgemental society. I highly recommend reading the series while Murphy and his team focus on bringing the story to life for FX audiences.

At the start of the year, JoBlo’s own Chris Bumbray got to check out the Sundance Film Festival premiere of director Steven Soderbergh and screenwriter David Koepp’s ghost story Presence, and in his 7/10 review (which you can read HERE), he described the film as “a supernatural tale that’s light on horror but heavy on heart.” A wider audience will have the chance to see the movie soon after we switch over to our 2025 calendars, as Neon is planning to give Presence a limited theatrical release on January 17th. Neon released a ton of teasers in the build-up to the release of their film Longlegs earlier this year, and now they’re taking a similar approach to their marketing of Presence. Four months out from the movie’s release, we’ve already seen two teaser trailers, and now a third teaser trailer has made its way online. You can watch the latest teaser in the embed above.

The story of Presence gets rolling when a family moves into a suburban house and becomes convinced they are not alone. A supernatural force has infiltrated the house, and taken a specific interest in the couple’s daughter.

The film stars Lucy Liu, Chris Sullivan, Callina Liang, Julia Fox, Eddy Maday, and West Mulholland.

It hasn’t been revealed how much Neon is paid for Presence, but it is known that they came out the winner of a bidding war between “about 10” different interested distributors. So they’re probably forking over “a healthy sum.” Deadline points out that it was “shot entirely in a single location, which creates the haunting mood sought by the filmmakers.” Bumbray’s review informed us that “Soderbergh’s camera is always from the perspective of the presence itself (no one uses the term ghost here), making it an interesting visual exercise. The family is observed from an arm’s length, with us eventually realizing that the presence itself isn’t necessarily malignant, nor is it even aware of why it’s in their home in the first place.”

Julie M. Anderson and Ken Meyer produced Presence, with Koepp serving as an executive producer alongside Corey Bayes. H.H. Cooper co-produced and Gus Gustafson, Samara Levenstein, and Claire Kenny are associate producers.

Are you looking forward to Presence? Watch its third teaser, then let us know by leaving a comment below. There’s a poster for you to take a look at while you’re scrolling down, but it mainly just serves as a reminder of other movies Soderbergh has directed:
