We may be nearing the end of Cobra Kai, but the Karate Kid universe will continue with the upcoming feature film. Karate Kid: Legends will find Jackie Chan and Ralph Macchio reprising their roles of Mr. Han and Daniel LaRusso, and Macchio teased the film while speaking on CBS’s The Talk.
“I’m not allowed to say a lot about it, except another awesome chapter is on its way,” Macchio said. “Ben Wang is a young kid in the show, he’s very exciting to watch. And working with Jackie [Chan], he’s a legend. They found, you know, it’s its own story in the vast universe, you know, so it’s another chapter in a different area that connects the mythology of where it all began. And fortunately, I was the guy that was there when it all began.“
Returning for Karate Kid: Legends wasn’t an easy choice for Macchio after spending so many years on Cobra Kai, but in the end, it felt right. “It was not a quick decision, because it was about protecting the Daniel LaRusso character, and finding where he would be at that point, and then protecting the whole legacy in the Miyagi-verse,” Macchio told Variety. “Once we were able to line that up, for the ‘Cobra Kai’ story to lead into the new film — even though they’re separate ecosystems — it all made sense for me. Then, working with Jackie was just super exciting. I started this on the big screen. How cool is it to get it back to the big screen?” As for whether this will be the last time we see Daniel LaRusso, Macchio wouldn’t say. “I don’t want to overstay the welcome of a character that’s so beloved,” he said. “But he’s aging like I am, so there could be other areas to explore as well. Never say never.“
In addition to Macchio and Chan, Karate Kid: Legends stars Ben Wang (American Born Chinese) as a young teenager from China who finds identity and strength in martial arts. During his journey of self-discovery, Wang’s character meets a disciplined martial arts master. Joshua Jackson (Fatal Attraction) and Ming-Na Wen (The Mandalorian) also appear in the movie, alongside Sadie Stanley (Cruel Summer) as the romantic lead. Jonathan Entwistle (The End of the F***ing World) directed the movie from a script by Rob Lieber (Alexander and the Terrible, Horrible, No Good Very Bad Day).
The second part of the sixth and final season of Cobra Kai debuted on Netflix earlier this month, with the third and final part of Season 6 arriving in 2025 before the movie. Nothing is official, but creators Hayden Schlossberg, Josh Heald and Jon Hurwitz have been entertaining the idea of more spinoffs, including a prequel series centered on Mr. Miyagi.
Karate Kid: Legends will hit theaters on May 30, 2025.

For myself and many other horror fans, the 1986 classic April Fool’s Day (watch it HERE) is a must-watch every April 1st – and next year, thanks to the folks at Kino Lorber, some of us are going to be able to watch the movie on a brand new 4K UHD disc! The film stars Deborah Foreman, Amy Steel, Deborah Goodrich, Ken Olandt, Griffin O’Neal, Leah King Pinsent, Clayton Rohner, Jay Baker, and Thomas F. Wilson.

The Eric Red-scripted classic The Hitcher just received a 4K release from Second Sight Films in September (and another one from Warner Bros. last month), and now Kino Lorber has announced that they’ll be giving Red’s film Body Parts (watch it HERE) a 4K UHD release in January! The street date is January 21st, and copies are available for pre-order through the Kino Lorber website.
Directed by Red from a screenplay credited to him and Norman Snider, with Patricia Herskovic and Joyce Taylor receiving story credit, Body Parts is the bone-chilling tale of a medical experiment gone murderously wrong. Bill Chrushank is a criminal psychologist who loses his arm and nearly his life in a grisly car accident. A daring medical operation follows, in which a donor’s arm is successfully grafted onto Bill’s body. But after the operation, the arm starts to take on a violent life of its own, striking out against Bill’s wife and children. Consumed by fears about his dangerous behavior, Bill is driven to learn the donor’s identity—and makes a horrifying discovery that delivers him into a world of unimaginable terror. Um, what? In a move we did not see coming, Bridge7, a production company founded by former Netflix executive Swati Shetty and former CAA agent Grant Kessman, has acquired the film sequel and TV rights to Slumdog Millionaire. I’m going to give you a moment to process this.
Are you good? Okay. If you remember, Danny Boyle’s Slumdog Millionaire hit the lottery in theaters in 2008. The film stars a young Dev Patel (Monkey Man, The Green Knight, Hotel Mumbai) as the older version of Jamal, a young man from the slums of Mumbai who becomes a contestant on the show’ Kuan Banega Crorepati?’ When interrogated under suspicion of cheating, he revisits his past, revealing how he had all the answers. Based on the book Q&A by Vikas Swarup, Boyle’s film serves as Patel’s feature debut after an extended role on the TV series Skins.
It remains a mystery if Patel or any other stars from Boyle’s multi-award-winning film plan to return for the Slumdog Millionaire sequel, in whatever form it takes. Slumdog Millionaire performed like gangbusters at the Oscars, winning eight awards, including Best Director and Best Picture for Danny Boyle. Slumdog Millionaire earned seven BAFTA awards, including Best Film, and four Golden Globes, including Best Motion Picture in the Drama category. If you haven’t figured it out yet, Slumdog Millionaire is a damn good movie, and you should see it.
