Lady Gaga

Singer/songwriter Lady Gaga didn’t have anything to do with the first season of the hit Netflix Addams Family series Wednesday, but when video clips of Jenna Ortega’s “Goo Goo Muck” dance scene went viral, many fans replaced The Cramps’ song “Goo Goo Muck” with a sped-up version of Lady Gaga’s song “Bloody Mary.” So Wednesday and Lady Gaga have been connected for a while now – and that connection is going to be deepened with the now-in-production season 2, as Deadline reports that Lady Gaga has been added to the cast of the show! Details on the character she’ll be playing have not been revealed.

Wednesday comes to us from Millar Gough Ink, Tim Burton Productions, Toluca Pictures, and MGM Television, and is described as a comedic, supernaturally-infused coming-of-age series that follows the teenage girl’s years as a student at Nevermore Academy, where she attempts to master her emerging psychic ability, thwart a monstrous killing spree that has terrorized the town, and solve a mystery that embroiled her parents 25 years ago — all while navigating her new relationships at Nevermore. Snap snap.

Jenna Ortega plays the title character and beyond Wednesday, other members of the Addams Family include Isaac Ordonez as Pugsley, Luis Guzmán and Catherine Zeta-Jones as Gomez and Morticia, and Fred Armisen as Uncle Fester. Uncle Fester has only appeared on one episode of Wednesday so far, but we recently heard that the character might be getting his own spin-off series. New additions to the cast for season 2 include Steve Buscemi (The Big Lebowski), Billie Piper (I Hate Suzie), Evie Templeton (Lord of Misrule), Owen Painter (Tiny Beautiful Things), Noah Taylor (Law & Order: Organized Crime), Christopher Lloyd (Back to the Future), Joanna Lumley (Absolutely Fabulous), Thandiwe Newton (Westworld), Frances O’Connor (The Missing), Haley Joel Osment (Tusk), Heather Matarazzo (Scream), and Joonas Suotamo (The Acolyte).

The cast of season 1 also included Christina Ricci as botanical sciences teacher Marilyn Thornhill; Riki Lindhome as Wednesday’s therapist Dr. Valerine Kinbot; Joy Sunday as Siren Nevermore student Bianca Barclay; Emma Myers as Wednesday’s sunny roommate Enid Sinclair; Hunter Doohan as townie Tyler Galpin; Moosa Mostafa as quirky Nevermore student Eugene Otinger; Georgie Farmer as awkward and shy Nevermore student Ajax Petropolus; Naomi J. Ogawa as vampire Nevermore student Yoko Tanaka; Percy Hynes White as supernaturally artistic Nevermore student Xavier Thorpe; Jamie McShane as Sheriff Donovan Galpin, Tyler’s father, who has a vendetta against Gomez; Gwendoline Christie as Larissa Weems, “the principal of Nevermore Academy who still has an axe to grind with her former classmate Morticia Addams”; Victor Dorobantu as Thing, the non-verbal disembodied hand; George Burcea as Lurch; Tommie Earl Jenkins as Mayor Walker; Iman Marson as Lucas Walker; William Houston as Joseph Crackstone; Luyanda Unati Lewis-Nyawo as Deputy Santiago; Oliver Watson as Kent; Calum Ross as Rowan; and Johnna Dias Watson as Divina. Some of them are returning for Wednesday season 2, some are not.

Tim Burton is directing half of season 2, which is the same thing he did for the first season. That means Burton is at the helm of four of the season’s eight episodes.

Lady Gaga’s previous acting credits include The Sopranos, Machete Kills, Sin City: A Dame to Kill For, American Horror Story, A Star Is Born, House of Gucci, and Joker: Folie à Deux.

Glen Powell, Mission: Impossible, rumor

Tom Cruise might not be getting any younger, but the rumor about his Top Gun: Maverick co-star Glen Powell (Twisters, Hit Man, Hidden Figures) replacing him in Paramount’s Mission: Impossible franchise couldn’t be farther from the truth. Today, Powell is cutting the head off a rumor that would upset his mother. There are whispers about Powell replacing Tom Cruise as the star of the Mission: Impossible franchise after Mission: Impossible – The Final Reckoning. Still, Powell says there’s no validity to the rumor.

“My mom would never let me do that,” Powell told Pat McAfee of ESPN. “That’s a death trap,” Powell added, referring to executing the death-defying stunts that go hand-in-hand with the series. After hearing the rumor, McAfee called Powell to congratulate him, though it seems the Anyone But You star was in the middle of filming Edgar Wright’s remake of Stephen King’s The Running Man.

Glen Powell stars in The Running Man as a “desperate man, needing money for his sick daughter, who joins the most popular show, The Running Man, in which teams of killers hunt down contestants. The longer that a contestant survives, the more money that person makes. But as the game show’s producers and killers will find out, this desperate man will break all the rules and expose the show’s dark secrets.” Josh Brolin (Avengers: Endgame) is also set to star as the ruthless producer behind the violent reality show, alongside Katy O’Brian (Love Lies Bleeding) as one of the contestants and Lee Pace (Foundation) as the brutal chief hunter tracking down Powell’s character. Daniel Ezra (All American) and William H. Macy (Mystery Men) will also appear. Wright’s Scott Pilgrim star Michael Cera also stars as a “naïve rebel who tries to help the desperate man.” In contrast, Emilia Jones will play a “privileged woman blind to the oppression of the government opposite Powell’s Richards.”

Edgar Wright is directing The Running Man from a script he co-wrote with Michael Bacall. It’s based on Stephen King’s novel of the same name, which was published in 1982 under the pseudonym Richard Bachman. Wright has previously said that The Running Man remake will be closer to the original Stephen King novel than the Arnold Schwarzenegger movie.

Could Glen Powell replace Tom Cruise in the Mission: Impossible franchise? Is there anyone who would be up to the task? Let us know what you think in the comments section below.

The long wait is almost over, folks! Netflix’s The Night Agent is finally returning on January 23, 2025, and I’ve already marked the date on my calendar. Today, Netflix dropped a teaser trailer for The Night Agent Season 2, featuring Gabriel Basso as FBI agent Peter Sutherland, who answers the call to action as enemies of the state close in from all sides. Hold onto your butts, we’re going into this next mission head first, and there’s no safety net to catch us if we fall.

Here’s the official synopsis for The Night Agent Season 2 courtesy of Netflix:

“Based on the novel by Matthew Quirk, The Night Agent is a sophisticated, character-based, action-thriller centering on a low level FBI Agent , Peter Sutherland, whose efforts to save The President in Season 1 earn him an opportunity to become a Night Agent in Season 2. But working in the secretive organization of Night Action will propel Peter into a world where danger is everywhere and trust is in short supply.”

The Night Agent Season 1 was the most-watched series in 2023 (by views) and currently ranks as the 7th Most Popular English series on Netflix. The first batch of episodes garnered 98.2 million views in its first 91 days, which is very impressive. It was also #1 in the Glocal Top 10 for four consecutive weeks and reached the #1 spot in the Top 10 for 87 countries. Will The Night Agent Season 2 teaser trailer be enough to get fans psyched for upcoming episodes?

In The Night Agent Season 2 teaser trailer, Gabriel Basso’s Peter Sutherland runs like Tom Cruise in a Mission: Impossible movie, dodges bullets, and ducks behind cover while trying to survive an onslaught of trigger-happy criminals and lowlifes.

Are you excited that The Night Agent will make its return to Netflix? I hope the streamer puts together a comprehensive recap ahead of the first episode because it’s been a hot minute since we joined Peter for a political thriller that quickly spirals out of control.

The Night Agent returns to Netflix on January 23, 2025!
