There’s only one more episode left in Dune: Prophecy’s first season, and the show is still adding more Bene Gesserits with the power to shake everything up to the Dune universe. Although we’ve seen her younger self briefly in flashback scenes, the arrival of adult Sister Francesca (Tabu) to House Corrino in the…
Universal is looking to Jamie Lee Curtis (True Lies, Borderlands, Trading Places) to pick up where Angela Lansbury left off for the studio’s Murder, She Wrote movie. There’s no deal yet, but Curtis is the studio’s top choice to play Jessica Fletcher in a film based on the 12-season CBS series.
The script is by Dumb Money scribes Lauren Schuker Blum and Rebecca Angelo, and Lord Miller and Amy Pascal are producing it. Plans to scope out a Murder, She Wrote film come at a time when whodunit stories are making a killer comeback. Rian Johnson’s Knives Out Mysteries series is a smash hit with audiences. At the same time, other titles like Netflix’s Enola Holmes, starring Millie Bobby Brown as the younger sister of Sherlock Holmes (Henry Cavill), and Kenneth Branagh’s revival of Hercule Poirot (Murder on the Orient Express, Death on the Nile, A Haunting in Venice) are great additions to the genre’s offerings.
Angela Lansbury played Jessica Fletcher in Murder, She Wrote from 1984 to 1996. In the long-running, fan-favorite series, Fletcher is a retired schoolteacher turned mystery writer adept at solving real-world mysteries. The show garnered 41 Emmy nominations, with Lansbury a staple of the annual celebration for her role. She never won an award for her part in the show, but fans still carry a candle for Lansbury and her portrayal of Jessica Fletcher.
Jamie Lee Curtis is an inspired, if not obvious, pick to play Jessica in a Murder, She Wrote movie. Curtis has the uncanny ability to slip into any role, and imagining her as a mystery writer turned super-sleuth would be a fantastic addition to her elongated list of roles. Curtis stars alongside Pamela Anderson in the newly-released drama The Last Showgirl and as Boo Radley in The Sticky, sharing what happens when Ruth Landry (Margo Martindale), a maple syrup farmer, finds her livelihood under attack by greedy competitors who were once her friends. Not to be outdone, she concocts a scheme to exact revenge and shake up the industry.
What do you think about Jamie Lee Curtis possibly taking on the role of Jessica Fletcher for Universal’s Murder, She Wrote movie? Let us know in the comments section below.

Brian Cox, the forever-outspoken actor who stunned audiences with his performance as Logan Roy for HBO’s Succession, is opening up about some of the more hot-button topics of his career. Outlets love to ask Cox big questions, hoping to generate an eye-catching headline. The latest bold-type banner article hails from The Hollywood Reporter, which asks Brian Cox about the state of Kevin Spacey’s Hollywood comeback and working alongside Jeremy Strong on the final season of Succession after Cox critiqued his acting methods.
Addressing cancel culture, Cox opened up about Kevin Spacey’s return to the silver screen, saying that although he thinks Spacey’s behavior was “a little unseamly,” he should be able to return to work.
“I just think Kevin had certain things which he couldn’t or didn’t admit to, and I think it was a strain on him in many ways,” Cox explains. “And for me, that was Kevin’s only difficulty. But he’s a very fine actor, and I like Kevin a lot. He’s very funny. I met with him recently. I think he’s been through it. He’s had the kicking that some people think he deserved. He’s ready to get back in the saddle again, and people are trying to stop him from doing that. And I really do go back to, “Let he who is without sin cast the first stone.” Maybe he got too out of hand, but I don’t think he should be punished endlessly for it. There should be a case of forgive and forget. Let’s move on. I think he should be given the opportunity to come back to work.”
In THR’s interview, the outlet also mentions a 2021 New Yorker profile in which Cox critiqued Jeremy Strong’s acting methods. Curious to know how the duo got along while filming the final season of Succession, THR asked Cox if there was any tension on the set. Fortunately, Cox said they behaved like professionals and focused on the work.
“We just got on with our job,” Cox said. “We get on with what we’re doing. We’re not going to buy into that thing with Jeremy. Jeremy was Daniel Day-Lewis’ assistant. So that is where you can see a massive influence on how Jeremy prepares for his work. But to act with Jeremy is extraordinary. He’s a great actor. I just think the way he works is not the way I work, in the way that [how] Dan Day-Lewis works is not the way I work. Again, it’s horses for courses.”
While Brian Cox can appear unapproachable and gruff, he’s a professional above all else. The work comes first, and what works for one person might feel foreign to the next. Actors are a particular lot, and there’s no telling how any individual prepares to transform into another. It’s “horses for courses,” as Brian would say, meaning different people are suited for different jobs or situations.

What Do We Know About the upcoming continuation of the Dexter franchise, Resurrection? More than you may think. Following the success of the sequel series New Blood and the prequel Original Sin, Dexter star Michael C. Hall returns in Resurrection, and we know the plot, cast, and confirmed release date. Let’s dive in and look at what is coming up from Showtime with Dexter: Resurrection.
Dexter Morgan isn’t dead after all.
Despite Dexter: New Blood showrunner Clyde Phillips declaring that Dexter was truly dead at the end of the series and promised he would not lie to the audience, he later told TV Insider that the beginning of Resurrection would have a doctor say to Dexter ‘Had you been shot in the summertime, you’d be dead, but you were shot in zero degree weather. And we ripped you open, and we’re able to get you minutes before you died.’” As seen in the opening of the premiere episode of Dexter: Original Sin, the serial killer survived his seemingly mortal wounds as the prequel is structured as what Dexter remembers as he is being operated on in the emergency room.
What is Resurrection about?
Originally announced at San Diego Comic-Con 2024, Dexter: Resurrection was set to follow Harrison, Dexter’s son, as he begins his killing career after his father’s death in New Blood. Michael C. Hall has stated that the new series picks up right after the conclusion of New Blood. It seems now that where the finale of Original Sin leaves Dexter’s fate on the operating table will truly be where the next series takes the plot.
Harrison may be the main character
Jack Alcott, who played Dexter’s son Harrison in New Blood, is set to reprise the role in Resurrection. Whether the series shifts the narration from Michael C. Hall to Alcott is currently unknown, but Dexter may be the supporting player in the new narrative centered on his offspring. Could there be duelling voice-overs as the perspective is shared between father and son?
Familiar faces may return for Resurrection
In a Variety interview, Hall teased that the next series has not closed the door on any character to return. Hall said, “There’s a whole cast of characters that populate his wider world and have the potential to re-emerge.”. New Blood saw John Lithgow reprise his role as the Trinity Killer and David Zayas return as Angel Batista, with most of the faces in Original Sin played by new actors for the 1990s time period. It remains to be seen which living characters could come back for the new series, but even departed characters could come back, as we saw with Jennifer Carpenter in New Blood.
Director Marcos Siega will be back behind the camera
While we don’t know how many directors will helm episodes of Resurrection, Marcos Siega will be one of them. The director of six episodes of New Blood and nine of the original series, Siega, confirmed via Instagram that he will be directing the premiere episode at least. Whether or not Siega will direct the whole season has yet to be revealed, but the reunion of the director with star Michael C. Hall and showrunner Clyde Phillips should give us some inclination as to how similar the new series will be to New Blood.
When will we see it?
Dexter: Resurrection was formally unveiled with a brief teaser that aired with the debut of Dexter: Original Sin. In the short clip, Michael C. Hall provided the voice-over. Resurrection was given a premiere window in the Summer of 2025. With production slated to kick off in January 2025, Clyde Phillips has said that the show will premiere in June. The hope is that Dexter: Resurrection and Dexter: Original Sin will both receive multiple seasons, with a season of one being followed closely by a season of the other, keeping different versions of Dexter on Showtime throughout the year.
