Tim Burton is one of the most visually inventive filmmakers of all time, and his work doesn’t just have its own unique visual flair, it is also wonderfully macabre. He came to prominence in the early 1980s with short movies such as Vincent from 1982, and 1984’s Frankenweenie, and followed them up with classic films like Beetlejuice and Batman towards the end of the 80s. Burton went on to make numerous other weird and wonderful movies, and he’s currently putting the finishing touches to the second season of the well-received Wednesday from 2022. And, oh yeah, his latest movie, Beetlejuice Beetlejuice just grossed half a billion dollars!
I’ve always found Burton’s work to be hugely influential from a design perspective, and if you look at any of his creations, from Jack Skellington, to Edward Scissorhands, there’s no doubt that they’re Tim Burton characters. In October of this year, the Design Museum in London opened its exhibition on the filmmaker, called The World of Tim Burton. It’s an immersive deep-dive into the fantastical world of Tim Burton, which explores his remarkable creations, and key collaborations with designers. We’re all massive fanboys, and girls, here at JoBlo, and I recently had the opportunity to visit the exhibition to see what wonders lay in store. Is it worth investing your time to go and visit though? You bet it is!
The Design Museum, in London’s Holland Park, is a great space that’s devoted to contemporary design in every form, and the building itself has a very unique look. It also offers a range of exhibitions alongside the Tim Burton experience, including a look at Barbie, if that’s your thing! However, it’s the Burton exhibition that showcases the director’s work fantastically, and the range of his work on display is well worth checking out.
The opening of the gallery begins with a timeline of Burton’s life, which is quickly followed by a glimpse into his early work. There’s a ton of artwork, from his early film projects like 1980s Trick or Treat, to Hansel and Gretel from 1983, plus an indepth look at his college work. You can see glimpses of what would become A Nightmare Before Christmas in these, plus his pop-art infused college work is intriguing.
Once you’ve taken in his early work, plus the various sketchbooks of drawings, the exhibition continues with what I was most looking forward to seeing; the stop-motion models from his animated movies, plus a close look at some very special costumes from his most successful movies. I won’t spoil everything the exhibition has in store, but there are wonderful models of Emily the Corpse Bride, and General Bonesapart from 2005’s Corpse Bride, to name just two. There are also models from Frankenweenie, Pee-wee’s Big Adventure and yes, The Nightmare Before Christmas, to enjoy.
If you’re a fan of Tim Burton, the exhibition is an immersive look into some of his most iconic work. The latter part of the experience is what I enjoyed the most, as it featured costumes and characters from Edward Scissorhands, and Batman Returns, two of my favorite Burton movies. The way the space is designed is also very Burton-esq. Towards the end of the exhibition, there’s a wonderfully disorientating corridor, with angled door frames designed to look like scenes from Beetlejuice.
I’m being greedy, because I would have liked to have seen some props and costumes from 1989’s Batman, but the exhibition overall is a unique, and rare glimpse behind Burton’s work. It’s an immersive look at one of cinema’s great auteurs, and if you’re in London, I highly recommend checking this out. The exhibition is running until April 21st, 2025, and tickets are apparently selling out quickly each day. So, what are you waiting for? Check out our video on the exhibition (EMBEDDED ABOVE), get your tickets booked, and treat yourself to what truly is an excellent look at the world of Tim Burton. Check out some more pics:
HBO has released the trailer for season 3 of The White Lotus. The eight-episode third season of HBO’s Emmy-winning original series from Mike White debuts SUNDAY, FEBRUARY 16 (9:00-10:00 p.m. ET/PT) on HBO and will be available to stream on Max. The social satire is set at an exclusive Thai resort and follows the exploits of various guests and employees over the span of a week.
The stacked ensemble for this season features Leslie Bibb, Carrie Coon, Walton Goggins, Sarah Catherine Hook, Jason Isaacs, Lalisa Manobal, Michelle Monaghan, Sam Nivola, Lek Patravadi, Parker Posey, Natasha Rothwell, Patrick Schwarzenegger, Tayme Thapthimthong, Aimee Lou Wood. Additional cast include Nicholas Duvernay, Arnas Fedaravičius, Christian Friedel, Scott Glenn, Dom Hetrakul, Julian Kostov, Charlotte Le Bon, Morgana O’Reilly, and Shalini Peiris. The series was created, written, and directed by Mike White; executive produced by White, David Bernad, and Mark Kamine.
“It’s going to be a supersized White Lotus,” White mentioned in November about The White Lotus Season 3. “It’s going to be longer, bigger, crazier. I don’t know what people will think, but I am super excited, so at least for my own barometer, that’s a good thing.”
“There’s no place I’d rather work than HBO and there’s no people I’d rather partner with than Casey Bloys, Francesca Orsi, Nora Skinner and their incredible team. I feel so lucky to get this opportunity again and am excited to reunite with my amazingly talented collaborators on The White Lotus.”said White about continuing his partnership with HBO.
“Reflecting on The White Lotus’ humble, run-and-gun origin as a contained pandemic production, it’s impossible not to be awestruck by how Mike orchestrated one of the buzziest and most critically acclaimed shows. And yet, he’s only continued to reach new heights in season 2, which is the ultimate testament to Mike’s raw, unparalleled vision. His courage to explore the uncharted waters of the human psyche, paired with his signature irreverent humor and buoyant directing style, have us all dreaming of more vacation days at the resort we’ve come to adore. We couldn’t be more thrilled to get the chance to collaborate on a third season together,” commented Francesca Orsi, EVP, HBO Programming, Head of HBO Drama Series and Films.
White’s award-winning series dominated the season with 20 Emmy nominations in 13 categories, winning ten prizes, including Outstanding Limited or Anthology Series. The White Lotus is one of HBO‘s hottest series, with fans climbing the walls for details about the show’s return. The White Lotus Season 3 cast announcements should satiate fans for at least a few minutes.
Spyglass Media and Paramount Pictures once intended to make a Scream 7 that would have starred Scream (2022) and Scream VI leads Melissa Barrera and Jenna Ortega, with Freaky and Happy Death Day director Christopher Landon at the helm. But then Ortega allegedly asked for a substantial pay raise – and as we saw when Neve Campbell dropped out of Scream VI due to a pay dispute, these pay issues don’t tend to work out. Then Barrera was fired from the project after comments she made about the Israel-Hamas war didn’t go over well with executives at Spyglass. Landon dropped out the of the project soon after. So Scream 7 has been re-developed, Campbell has signed on to return as franchise heroine Sidney Prescott, back in the lead role – and in recent weeks, a supporting cast has been forming around her. Deadline reports that the latest addition to the cast is Sam Rechner, who is best known for playing jock Logan Hall in the Steven Spielberg film The Fabelmans. There’s no word on who he might be playing in the new Scream sequel.
Courteney Cox has been in talks to reprise the role of reporter / author Gale Weathers since March, but she recently revealed that she hasn’t signed on yet. Patrick Dempsey has had discussions about reprising his Scream 3 role of Detective Mark Kincaid, but he’s waiting to see the script. In addition to Campbell and Rechner, the actors confirmed to be in Scream 7 are Isabel May of the Yellowstone prequel 1883, who has signed on to play Sidney’s daughter; Mckenna Grace of the Ghostbusters franchise, Grace’s Ghostbusters co-star Celeste O’Connor, and Gen V‘s Asa Germann.
Kevin Williamson, who wrote the screenplay for the original Scream, is set to direct this new sequel. In addition to writing the original Scream, Williamson has also written I Know What You Did Last Summer, Scream 2, The Faculty, and Halloween H20 (where his script contributions were uncredited). He wrote the initial drafts of Scream 3 and Scream 4, then those both received some major rewrites. For Scream 7, he’ll be working from a screenplay by 2022’s Scream and Scream VI writer Guy Busick, who crafted the story with his co-writer on the fifth and sixth films, James Vanderbilt. (Vanderbilt is also a producer on the most recent sequels.) Williamson made his directing debut with the 1999 thriller Teaching Mrs. Tingle. Twenty-five years later, Scream 7 will be his second directing credit.
Want to hear some rumors / possible character spoilers? A while back, industry scooper Daniel Richtman claimed that Scream 7 has the following character line-up: Taylor (17-18) – Sidney’s daughter. Brian (17-18) – is Taylor’s boyfriend. Chelsea (17-18) – the heartbreaker of the group. Holly (17-18) – Taylor’s rich friend, the queen bee of the group. Logan (17-18) – Taylor’s hot, but creepy neighbor with a Ted Bundy vibe. Jennifer (40s-50s) – Logan’s mom and Sidney’s friend. So look over the cast list and see which actor you think matches which character.

Scream 7 is set to reach theatres on February 27, 2026.
Marvel Rivals is quite a generous game. Not only are all future heroes confirmed to be free, but every battle pass can be enjoyed permanently as long as you’ve purchased them. You’ll mostly be tempted to put your money toward skins, but there are many you can acquire for free.

It’s becoming common for companies to use AI when upscaling images for 4K UHD releases of movies… but we keep seeing examples that indicate maybe it shouldn’t be common practice. AI turned background extras in Jaws 3D into monstrous creatures, and now fans of Wallace & Gromit are taking to reddit to complain about the AI upscaling used for Wallace & Gromit: The Complete Cracking Collection, which was recently released by Shout Factory and goes for the price of $119.98.
Screen shots shared on reddit show that the AI upscaling has removed texture from some shots, turned text into gibberish, and removed numbers from an alarm clock. A screen shot from the What Happened to the 4K Remaster of Wallace & Gromit?YouTube video even reveals that AI decided to add some kind of hieroglyphics to a moldy canopy.
The image at the top of this article shows what a certain shot originally looked like. Here it is, minus texture, thanks to the AI upscaling:
