JoBlo TV

At the end of September, JoBlo Media and Octane Multimedia teamed up to launch a new YouTube channel named JoBlo TV, which hosts multiple feature films to watch for free throughout the week. The genres we’ll be focusing on at JoBlo TV are Action, Horror, Sci-Fi, Fantasy, and Thrillers – and the free movies we shared this week covered pretty much all of those categories!

This week’s line-up consisted of the mystery thriller Buoyancy, the sci-fi horror film The Alpha Test, and the martial arts action movie The Man from Kathmandu. Here’s some information on each of them:

Written and directed by Roel Leijten, Buoyancy has the following synopsis: When an overly ambitious student gets invited for a submarine journey by an eccentric entrepreneur, she comes to realize that deep-down inside people are not who they pretend to be. The film stars Rebecca Finch, Michael Wagner, Eline Havenaar, Portia Booroff, Maria Shchensnyak, Arabella Ottens, and Simon Rhys-Jones. If the set-up for the story of Buoyancy sounds familiar to you, that could be because it draws at least some inspiration from a true crime case that’s known in Denmark as “The Submarine Case”. You can find out more about the crime, the murder of Kim Wall, at THIS LINK.

Written and directed by Aaron Mirtes from a story by Brad Belemjian, The Alpha Test has a short and simple synopsis: A robot servant is pushed to the brink of disaster and murder at the hands of a vicious and abusive owner. Brad Belemjian stars in the film alongside Lacy Hartselle, Rae Hunt, Bella Martin, Alice Raver, Wynn Reichert, Deborah Seidel, Mack Bayda, and David Ditmore.

The Man from Kathmandu was written and directed by Pema Dhondup, and it has this for a synopsis: A disaffected American-Nepali half Hindu-Muslim boy detours to Kathmandu on his way to find his father who he thinks has joined the war in Syria, but his Moral battle against a local don who kills his grandfather grounds him to the reality of his true relationships, and in the process, he reconnects with his root, culture and traditions of the Himalayan nation, which he had forgotten. Gulshan Grover, Karma Shakya, Michael Brian, Pradip Raut, Narendra Singh Dhami, Hameed Sheikh, Neer Bikram Shah, Jose Manuel, Anna Sharma, Shishir Bangdel, Heather Breedlove King, Mithila Sharma, Paramita Rana, Puskar Gurung, Sunita Shrestha, Bikash Gurung, Angel Vazquez, Rupesh Jha, Amir Gautam, and Aliya Shah star. Abhisek Baniya (also known as Nasty) and Yama Buddha also make a special appearance as themselves for a performance of the song “Kathmandu’s Finest.”

Hayley Atwell, Avengers: Doomsday

Deadline reports that Hayley Atwell is expected to reprise her role of Agent Peggy Carter in Avengers: Doomsday. This comes just days after it was reported that Chris Evans was expected to return as well. However, in the case of Evans, there were no details on how he would be back or as which character, only that he “will be involved in some capacity, but the extent and exact nature of his role is unknown.” There have been rumours that Evans may return as Nomad, but nothing has been confirmed.

Atwell first played Peggy Carter in Captain America: The First Avenger and returned for Captain America: The Winter Soldier, Avengers: Age of Ultron, Ant-Man, and Avengers: Endgame. She was also featured in the Agent Carter TV series and made appearances in Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D. She has also voiced an alternate version of the character known as Captain Carter in Marvel’s What If…? animated series and brought the character into the realm of live-action in Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness.

As we know, Avengers: Doomsday will also feature the return of Robert Downey Jr., who will be playing Doctor Doom, the new big bad of the MCU. Joe and Anthony Russo will direct Avengers: Doomsday (and Avengers: Secret Wars), and Joe Russo recently said that we can expect something “really explosive” with the movie. “Why would we come back if we didn’t feel like we had a story that had that possibility of being on an equal footing with Infinity War and Endgame unless there’s a kernel there for an idea that’s really explosive?Avengers: Doomsday is slated for a May 1, 2026 release, followed by Avengers: Secret Wars on May 7, 2027.

Atwell will next be seen reprising her role of Grace in Mission: Impossible – The Final Reckoning. She first appeared in Mission: Impossible – Dead Reckoning, where her character is a thief who becomes an ally of Tom Cruise’s Ethan Hunt. The Final Reckoning is slated to hit theaters on May 23, 2025.

Anne Hathaway and Dave Bautista are leaping into an untitled action comedy from Banshee and The Adam Project writer Jonathan Tropper for Amazon MGM Studios and AGBO. The outrageous premise finds the duo leading a story based on an actual sting involving agents who posed as a couple to infiltrate global crime enterprises. Their work culminates in a staged wedding in New Jersey; only when their crime boss guests checked in for their seat assignments were they systematically and secretly carted off by authorities before the next party could be tipped off.

The untitled action comedy shuffles the original events, making the story about mismatched FBI partners with wildly different styles forced to cohabitate and tolerate each other’s faults for the good of the case. At first, neither agent can stand the other, but by the operation’s end, they learn to respect one another. Awwww!

Anne Hathaway has two films in post-production. One is David Lowery’s Mother Mary, which focuses on the relationship between a fictional musician and a famous fashion designer. The other is the David Robert Mitchell-directed mystery thriller Flowervale Street, which is about a family in the ’80s who notice bizarre happenings in their neighborhood.

Dave Bautista has three films in post-production, including Trap House, In the Lost Lands, and Afterburn. Trap House comes from director Michael Dowse. The action film focuses on a DEA agent and their partner who pursue thieves who are also their rebellious teens. The teens begin robbing the cartel using classified intel, landing the agents in hot water. In the Lost Lands is an action-adventure movie by Paul W.S. Anderson. Bautista and Milla Jovovich lead the fantasy film, focusing on a sorceress who travels to the Lost Lands searching for a magical power that transforms a person into a werewolf. Finally, there’s Afterburn, a sci-fi comedy set after a massive solar flare that destroys the Earth’s eastern hemisphere. In Afterburn, an emboldened treasure hunter for hire adventures to Europe to uncover the coveted Mona Lisa, only to learn the world needs a hero more than it needs a painting.

What do you think about the concept for the untitled action comedy starring Anne Hathaway and Dave Bautista, which is being written by Jonathan Tropper? Let us know in the comments section below.
