Month: December 2024

Pack your bags, folks! We’re hitting the road for Metropolis in the first Harley Quinn Season 5 trailer! After what feels like an eternity, Max has announced that the latest season of Pumpkin Pie’s antics come to the streaming platform on January 16, 2025.

In today’s Harley Quinn Season 5 trailer, Harls and Ivy are looking for a fresh start after looking at the declining state of Gotham City. With Gotham being a dumpster fire, the grass must be greener in Metropolis, right? Well, not exactly. Everything is not as it seems when Harley and Ivy discover that the grass isn’t always greener in Superman’s backyard, even if it initially appears that way. As Gotham’s cutest criminal couple settles into their new digs, Ivy becomes entranced by an offer from Lena Luthor to run the Metropolis Green initiative. However, evil lurks as Brainiac plots an invasion of Harley and Ivy’s new surroundings. Still, it doesn’t take long before zombies, evil robots, and King Shark’s rowdy offspring throw everything into disarray.

Here’s the official synopsis for Harley Quinn Season 5 courtesy of Max:

“The fifth season of Harley Quinn finds Harley (Kaley Cuoco) and Ivy (Lake Bell) in a new location: Metropolis! – the home of all things Superman, Lois Lane, and the Daily Planet,” the logline reads. “Harley and Ivy discover that something sinister is at play and all is not what it seems. Looming threats include Lex Luthor and his sister, Lena Luthor, plus fan-favorite Brainiac. But of course, Harley’s crew of misfits and allies will join her on this irreverent journey that takes no prisoners in having fun in the DC sandbox.”

In addition to Kaley Cuoco as the voice of Harley Quinn and Lake Bell as Poison Ivy, castmembers include Diedrich Bader as Batman/Bruce Wayne, Ron Funches as King Shark, Stephen Fry as Brainiac, Natalie Morales as Lois Lane, JB Smoove as Frank the Plant, Alan Tudyk as Clayface and Joker, and Aisha Tyler as Lena Luthor.

Will Metropolis survive a visit from Harley Quinn, Poison Ivy, and their ragtag group of ne’er-do-well companions? We can’t wait to find out when Harley Quinn Season 5 comes to Max on January 16.

Autopsy Room Four Richard Thomas

Stephen King‘s short story Autopsy Room Four was first published in the 1997 collection Six Stories – which, fitting for the title, did indeed contain six stories. That book was limited to just 1100 copies, but thankfully King ended up putting all six of the stories into different collections over the years. Autopsy Room Four was also included in the 1997 anthology Robert Bloch’s Psychos before making its way into the 2002 King collection Everything’s Eventual. In 2006, the story was adapted for the screen as an episode of the TNT King mini-series Nightmares and Dreamscapes… and now, Deadline reports that a feature film adaptation is in the works.

King has given the greenlight for the new adaptation, which is being produced by Jon Levin, who was previously an executive producer on Netflix’s King adaptation In the Tall Grass. The film will be written and directed by Ranjeet S. Marwa, whose credits include Ballistic, Rupture, Spring Lakes, and many short films – including a 16 minute adaptation of the King story Cain Rose Up, which Marwa made back in 2013.

Here’s what happens in Autopsy Room Four: Howard Cottrell is on vacation playing golf. Chasing the ball into the undergrowth, he’s bitten by a snake and completely paralyzed, showing no sign of life. At the hospital, unable to communicate, he is the key witness to his own autopsy. Or, as Deadline puts it, Autopsy Room Four delves into the mind of a man who, after a life-threatening accident, wakes up to find himself trapped in an autopsy room. As he confronts his own mortality, the story navigates themes of fear, survival, and the unknown.

The Nightmares and Dreamscapes adaptation was directed by Mikael Salomon, who also directed the King adaptation Big Driver and the 2004 version of Salem’s Lot, from a script by April Smith. Richard Thomas of the It mini-series starred alongside Greta Scacchi, Robert Mammone, Robyn Arthur, Jude Beaumont, Paul Gleeson, Linc Hasler, Josh Lawson, Brian Lipson, Steve Mouzakis, and Martin Vaughan.

Christmas isn’t the only thing around the corner. Sonic the Hedgehog 3 races into theaters on December 20, bringing the Blue Blur and his pals to fans for an all-new live-action animated adventure! To celebrate the festive season and arrival of the threequel, Paramount Pictures unleashed A Very Sonic Christmas, a stop-motion animated short featuring Sonic (Ben Schwartz), Tails (Colleen O’Shaughnessey), and Knuckles (Idris Elba) saving Christmas for all children across the globe.

In A Very Sonic Christmas, Sonic celebrates the gang’s first Christmas by showing Tails and Knuckles how to bring holiday cheer in style. After decorating the tree, dressing everyone in an ugly Christmas sweater, and leaving a chili dog out for Old St. Nick, Sonic says the only thing left to do is visit Santa Claus. Using one of his golden rings to teleport Santa to his home, Sonic introduces the jolly elf to his friends. All is merry and bright until Santa realizes he’s sprained his ankle. As Sonic comes to terms with the disaster, he offers to drive Santa’s sleigh and deliver presents, thus saving Christmas. The short’s animation harkens back to 1964’s classic stop-motion animated holiday special Rudolph the Red-Nosed Reindeer, bringing nostalgic vibes to an entertaining promotional treat.

A Very Sonic Christmas, Sonic the Hedgehog 3

The first reactions to Sonic the Hedgehog 3 arrived yesterday, with several reviewers praising the threequel as the franchise’s best film.

Collider’s Steven Weintraub said Sonic the Hedgehog 3 “is definitely the best one yet. The addition of Shadow (voiced by Keanu Reeves) adds a great antagonist that isn’t empty calories. But the reason to see the Sonic movies is Jim Carrey. He’s such a brilliant performer and he never gives less than his everything. Was a lot of fun watching him play off himself. He plays two roles in the sequel.”

ComicBook.com’s Chris Killian added, “It’s not often that each movie gets better in a trilogy, but #SonicMovie3 is the best of the bunch. There’s action-packed goofiness a plenty thanks to Jim Carrey pulling double duty, but what I didn’t expect was a surprisingly moving performance from Keanu Reeves and a third act that might make Sonic fans a little weepy-eyed. Also – there are two big post-credits scenes so AVOID SPOILERS. It’s clear [Jeff Fowler] and crew have a great affinity for the Blue Blur and he’s not going anywhere anytime soon.”

Paramount‘s Sonic the Hedgehog franchise is stronger than ever, with fans anticipating more features and spinoffs as the studio strategically portions out new characters and Dr. Robotnik’s next dastardly plan. I might need to go to the theater for this one. What have I become?
