The Witch, The Lighthouse, and The Northman writer/director Robert Eggers‘ remake of F.W. Murnau’s 1922 silent classic Nosferatu (watch it HERE) is set to reach theatres on Wednesday, December 25th – and JoBlo’s own Chris Bumbray highly recommends that you check it out, as he described the film as a new horror classic in his 10/10 review. Today, 39 second clip from the film has arrived online, and it involves talk of a disturbing vision about holding hands with Death. You can check it out in the embed above.
An unofficial adaptation of Bram Stoker’s Dracula, the original Nosferatu has the following synopsis: In this highly influential silent horror film, the mysterious Count Orlok (Max Schreck) summons Thomas Hutter (Gustav von Wangenheim) to his remote Transylvanian castle in the mountains. The eerie Orlok seeks to buy a house near Hutter and his wife, Ellen (Greta Schroeder). After Orlok reveals his vampire nature, Hutter struggles to escape the castle, knowing that Ellen is in grave danger. Meanwhile Orlok’s servant, Knock (Alexander Granach), prepares for his master to arrive at his new home. Werner Herzog directed his own remake of the film in 1979. Murnau’s film had a running time of 94 minutes and Herzog’s is 107 minutes long, so Eggers’ 132 minute version is substantially longer than its predecessors.
Eggers’ take on Nosferatu is a gothic tale of obsession between a haunted young woman in 19th century Germany and the ancient Transylvanian vampire who stalks her, bringing untold horror with him.
The cast includes Willem Dafoe (Spider-Man: No Way Home) as crazy vampire hunter Von Franz, Lily-Rose Depp (The Idol) as Ellen Hutter and Nicholas Hoult (Renfield) as her husband Thomas – a role Skarsgard was going to play at one point. Aaron Taylor-Johnson (Bullet Train) is in there as Thomas’s friend Friedrich Harding, with Emma Corrin (The Crown) as Friedrich’s wife Anna, Ralph Ineson (The Witch) as Von Franz’s cohort Dr. Wilhelm Sievers, and Simon McBurney (The Conjuring 2) in an unspecified role. As mentioned, Bill Skarsgard is the title character and has said that playing Nosferatu / Count Orlok was like “conjuring pure evil. It took a while for me to shake off the demon that had been conjured inside of me. … I do not think people are gonna recognize me in it.“
The first reactions to the film recently made their way online, and they were very positive. Nosferatu has earned an R rating for bloody violent content, graphic nudity, and some sexual content.

Clearly, it’s laundry day for Matt Smith on the set of Nick Cave‘s The Death of Bunny Munro. Written by BAFTA winner Pete Jackson (Somewhere Boy), with direction by Isabella Eklöf (Industry, Holiday), the Doctor Who and House of the Dragon star goes shirtless in a first-look pic for the upcoming series adaptation of the Cave’s story. Baby Reindeer studio Clerkenwell Films is partnering with Sky Studios for the project, with Nick Cave producing the series based on his second novel.
What’s The Death of Bunny Munro about? Here’s a description of Cave’s novel courtesy of Amazon:
“Set adrift by his wife’s suicide and struggling to keep some sort of grasp on reality, Bunny Munro drives off in his yellow Fiat Punto, Bunny Jr. in tow. To his son waiting patiently in the car while he peddles beauty wares and quickies to lonely housewives in the south of England, Bunny is a hero, larger than life. But Bunny himself seems to have only a dim awareness of his son’s existence, viewing his needs as a distraction from his relentless pursuit of sex, alcohol and drugs.
When his bizarre road trip shades into a final reckoning, and when England’s small towns seem to become stopping points in a strange, mythical landscape, Bunny realizes that the revenants of his world — decrepit fathers, vengeful ghosts, jealous husbands and horned psycho-killers — lurk in the shadows, waiting to exact their toll.
At turns dark and humane — and with all the mystery and enigma fans will recognize as Cave’s singular vision — The Death of Bunny Munro questions the nature of sin and redemption, and lays bare the imprints that fathers leave on their sons.”
In the first image from The Death of Bunny Monru, Matt Smith leans toward the camera in front of a Fenton’s Washeteria washing machine, sans shirt, with an unlit cigarette dangling from a smirking grin. Rafael Mathé, who plays Bunny Junior, sits alongside him with a cheeky smile.
The two characters have much to look forward to as they support one another during their adjustment to loss. Bunny Junior’s father is ill-equipped to care for a young son, but he’ll need to get his act together if both want to survive the journey and each other. The adaptation of Cave’s cult tale also stars Sarah Greene, Lindsay Duncan, Elizabeth Berrington, David Threlfall, Alice Feetham, Robert Glenister, and more.

Star Wars: Skeleton Crew is the latest addition to the small-screen, Disney Plus streaming version of the Galaxy Far, Far Away that we all know and love. Starring Jude Law, the series, which comes from Spider-Man: No Way Home director Jon Watts, aspires to be a throwback to the kind of movies Amblin Entertainment put out in the eighties. It’s led by a young cast of kids, with it very much in the mould of The Goonies, albeit in space. So far, it’s collected far better reviews from both critics and fans than many other, more divisive Star Wars projects have in recent years (read our review here).
Recently, we were invited to take part in the Skeleton Crew press day in NYC, and our interviewer, Eric Walkuski was able to speak to two of the stars, Kyriana Kratter & Robert Timothy Smith. Kyriana Kratter plays KB, who sports a cybernetic visor in the show, while Smith voices Neel, a blue, elephant-like boy who seems to be of the same species as Max Rebo from Return of the Jedi. Check out our interview (embedded above) as the two discuss their love of the franchise, bonding as a group, and more!
Here’s the official synopsis for Star Wars: Skeleton Crew: When four kids make a mysterious discovery on their seemingly safe home planet, they get lost in a strange and dangerous galaxy. Finding their way home, meeting unlikely allies and enemies will be a greater adventure than they ever imagined. The series stars Jude Law as Jod Na Nawood, a human Jedi who helps the kids (Wim, KB, Neel, and Fern) navigate a complicated world during destructive times. Joining Law for the adventure are Ravi Cabot-Conyers (Wim), Kyriana Kratter (KB), Robert Timothy Smith (Neel), and Ryan Kiera Armstrong (Fern). Tunde Adebimpe, Kerry Condon, Nick Frost, Marti Matulis, Jaleel White, Fred Tatasciore, Mike Estes, and Dale Soules are also in the cast.
Created by Jon Watts, the director of the Tom Holland Spider-Man trilogy, and Watts’ frequent collaborator Christopher Ford, Star Wars: Skeleton Crew is being executive produced by Jon Favreau, Dave Filoni, Kathleen Kennedy, and Colin Wilson. Watts and Ford also serve as executive producers, and are the showrunners. The series is produced by Susan McNamara and John Bartnicki. Watts directed the first and last episodes of the season, with other episodes being directed by David Lowery, Daniel Kwan and Daniel Scheinert, Jake Schreier, Bryce Dallas Howard, and Lee Isaac Chung.
