The Falcon and the Winter Soldier, season 2, Anthony Mackie

The Falcon and the Winter Soldier found Sam Wilson (Anthony Mackie) teaming up with Bucky Barnes (Sebastian Stan) for a global adventure that tested their abilities and patience. The Disney+ series concluded with Wilson finally taking on the mantle of Captain America, setting the stage for Captain America: Brave New World. However, Mackie told RadioTimes that he’s a little disappointed that we won’t be getting season 2 of The Falcon and the Winter Soldier.

The Falcon and [the] Winter Soldier, I really enjoyed doing that show,” Mackie said. “I was actually excited to do a second season, just so me and Sebastian [Stan] can get paid to hang out. Because it’s like me, him and Daniel Brühl. It’s kind of like the perfect storm of happiness… Anything I can do to hang out with Daniel, a dancing Daniel Brühl, makes me very happy.

Mackie added, “When they decided to go back to the movies, it is what it is, but I don’t have my friends anymore, so it kind of dampens it a little bit.

Although Sebastian Stan and Daniel Brühl may not be making an appearance in Captain America: Brave New World, the movie does feature a few other members of the cast of The Falcon and the Winter Soldier, including Danny Ramirez and Carl Lumbly as Joaquin Torres and Isaiah Bradley, respectively. The film also stars Harrison Ford, Liv Tyler, Tim Blake Nelson, and Shira Haas.

Speaking of Brave New World, production on the Captain America sequel hasn’t been smooth sailing. The film was slated to hit theaters this year, but the release was pushed back to February 14, 2025 to accommodate some fairly extensive reshoots after poor test screenings. After the underperformance of Ant-Man and the Wasp: Quantumania and The Marvels, the studio clearly wants to make sure they don’t have another failure on their hands.

The first season of The Falcon and the Winter Soldier, along with Moon Knight, Andor, and Obi-Wan Kenobi, will be released on 4K Ultra HD on April 30th. Would you still like to see The Falcon and the Winter Solider season 2?

Killer Klowns from Outer Space

You’d think it would be a given that any new project that serves as a follow-up to the 1988 cult classic Killer Klowns from Outer Space (watch it HERE) would need to feature two very important elements: the klowns and the famous theme song by The Dickies… but the upcoming Killer Klowns from Outer Space video game is missing one of those elements, as The Dickies have confirmed that their theme song is not being used for the game.

The announcement was made on The Dickie’s Facebook page: Got some gnarly news to share, a true bummer: THE DICKIES’ Killer Klowns from Outer Space theme song won’t be in upcoming Killer Klowns Video Game. Yeah, makes ya feel a bit gutted. Like a total slap in the face after all the love and loyalty fans have given that song for 36 years. The band really appreciates that you’ve rocked out with them at their club dates, and really dug that the song was featured at Universal Studios’ Horror nights! It’s like they’re f*cking with the Killer Klowns’ heart and soul. Keep the Klowns connection alive! Let your voices rip online. That rad song belongs in the game! THE DICKIES send their thanks to you for being the most bitchin’ fans around. UPDATE: The post was taken down just a couple hours after it was posted, which may be a positive sign for the song’s inclusion.

Killer Klowns from Outer Space (the movie) was directed by Stephen Chiodo from a screenplay he wrote with his brother Charles Chiodo. Stephen and Charles also produced the film with their other brother, Edward Chiodo. It has the following synopsis: When teenagers Mike and Debbie see a comet crash outside their sleepy small town, they investigate and discover a pack of murderous aliens who look very much like circus clowns. They try to warn the local authorities, but everyone assumes their story is a prank. Meanwhile, the clowns set about harvesting and eating as many people as they can. It’s not until they kidnap Debbie that Mike decides it’s up to him to stop the clowns’ bloody rampage.

Here’s the information on the video game: Killer Klowns from Outer Space: The Game is a crazy, fresh take on asymmetrical survival horror experience. Based on the iconic 80s movie, the three-versus-seven multiplayer game brings back the unique, over-the-top mix of horror and comedy. In the battle between Killer Klowns and the citizens of Crescent Cove, team up and harvest humans or save the world from an alien invasion! The game was first announced at Gamescom in 2022 and immediately drove huge buzz and excitement that spread across the globe.

Celebrating its 35th anniversary this year, Killer Klowns has become a true pop culture phenomenon with scary-good products from a wide range of licensees for costumes, apparel, accessories, interactive, location-based entertainment and home and beauty, and MGM continues to grow the program into new categories.

Crescent Cove is a sprawling arena for these unique multiplier fights between Klowns and humans—boasting various locations, and various tactical opportunities for both teams. Killer Klowns from Outer Space: The Game provides a unique approach to hide-and-seek gameplay, customization and respawn systems, player-versus-player-versus-environment, and dynamic objectives leading to multiple match results. This game evolves the online horror formula in new ways.

Gameplay

Take on the Role of the Iconic Killer Klowns – Cooperate in a team of three players, utilize unworldly abilities, hunt humans with zany weapons, and plan your alien invasion to harvest the population of Crescent Cove successfully.

Fight Back as a Team of Seven Brave Citizens of Crescent Cove – Explore the city for valuable loot and weapons, avoid getting captured by Klowns, and try to survive the alien invasion.

Several months ago, we learned that IllFonic had replaced Good Shepherd Entertainment as the publisher of the game and were co-developing it with Teravision Games, and last month it was announced that Killer Klowns from Outer Space: The Game will be released for PC, Playstation 5, and Xbox Series X|S on June 4th.

Are you looking forward to the Killer Klowns from Outer Space video game? Does the lack of The Dickies’ theme song have any impact on your enthusiasm for the game? Let us know by leaving a comment below.

Here’s hoping things will turn around and the song will be added to the game before June. On the bright side, the game has brought back the film’s composer John Massari.

The First Omen

On April 5th, 20th Century Studios will be giving a theatrical release to The First Omen, which serves as a prequel to the 1976 horror classic The Omen (watch it HERE). The film stars Nell Tiger Free of the Apple TV+ series Servant, and with its release date just a couple weeks away, poster designer Creepy Duck Design has unveiled an official new poster for the film. You can check it out at the bottom of this article.

Creepy Duck Design has previously created official posters for such films as Scream (2022), Terrifier 2, Barbarian, The Black Phone, and Smile, among others.

The First Omen was directed by Arkasha Stevenson, based on characters created by David Seltzer. Here’s the synopsis: When a young American woman is sent to Rome to begin a life of service to the church, she encounters a darkness that causes her to question her own faith and uncovers a terrifying conspiracy that hopes to bring about the birth of evil incarnate.

Free is joined in the cast by Tawfeek Barhom (Mary Magdalene), Sonia Braga (Kiss of the Spider Woman), Ralph Ineson (The Northman), and Bill Nighy (Living).

The film was produced by David S. Goyer and Keith Levine, with Tim Smith serving as executive producer with Whitney Brown and Gracie Wheelan. The First Omen has earned an R rating for violent content, grisly/disturbing images, and brief graphic nudity.

We first heard that a prequel to The Omen was in development way back in 2016. At that time, Antonio Campos (The Devil All the Time) was in talks to direct First Omen from a script by Ben Jacoby (Bleed). Later The Conjuring writers Chad and Carey Hayes came on board to work on the script, and they were followed by author Gillian Flynn (Gone Girl). The film ended up in the hands of Arkasha Stevenson – who has previously directed episodes of the genre shows Channel ZeroLegion, and Brand New Cherry Flavor. Stevenson rewrote the script with her writing partner Tim Smith, then Firestarter‘s Keith Thomas worked on it as well.

The Omen (1976) was followed by Damien: Omen II in 1978, Omen III: The Final Conflict in 1981, Omen IV: The Awakening in 1991, and a 2006 remake. So this is the sixth entry in the film franchise.

Beetlejuice Beetlejuice Michael Keaton

Michael Keaton is back as the titular Ghost with the Most in Beetlejuice Beetlejuice, director Tim Burton’s long-awaited sequel to his 1988 classic Beetlejuice (watch it HERE).  Winona Ryder is reprising the role of Lydia Deetz. Catherine O’Hara is back as Lydia’s stepmother Delia. But now The Hollywood Reporter has been able to confirm that Jeffrey Jones, who played Lydia’s father Charles in the original movie, is not in the sequel. Few fans expected him to be, as Jones hasn’t gotten a lot of screen acting jobs since 2003, when he pled no contest to “hiring a 14-year-old boy to pose naked for photos, for which he was sentenced to five years probation and ordered to register as a sex offender.” He has been in a few movies since then, but his most substantial job was on the TV series Deadwood. He appeared on 35 episodes of that show from 2004 to 2006, then returned for Deadwood: The Movie in 2019.

Eagle-eyed fans spotted a picture of Jones on a tombstone glimpsed in the trailer that was released yesterday. The fact that his character is dead wouldn’t have necessarily been enough to keep him out of the movie, since the Beetlejuice films deal with ghosts and the afterlife… but no, Charles does not have a role in Beetlejuice Beetlejuice, living or dead.

Beetlejuice Beetlejuice was in development hell for decades before it finally got made. In 1990, Jonathan Gems was hired to write a sequel that was going to be titled Beetlejuice Goes Hawaiian. Burton considered having Daniel Waters rewrite that script, Pamela Norris did rewrite it, and Warner Bros. offered Kevin Smith the chance to do another rewrite. He turned it down. Seth Grahame-Smith was hired to write and produce a new version of a sequel in 2011. Mike Vukadinovich was brought on to rewrite his script in 2017.

Alfred Gough and Miles Millar, co-creators and co-showrunners of Wednesday, have written the screenplay for Beetlejuice 2 that was actually filmed. Brad Pitt’s Plan B is producing the sequel, which filmed in London before moving to Vermont and Massachusetts.

Here’s the official synopsis: Beetlejuice is back! After an unexpected family tragedy, three generations of the Deetz family return home to Winter River. Still haunted by Beetlejuice, Lydia’s life is turned upside down when her rebellious teenage daughter, Astrid, discovers the mysterious model of the town in the attic and the portal to the Afterlife is accidentally opened. With trouble brewing in both realms, it’s only a matter of time until someone says Beetlejuice’s name three times and the mischievous demon returns to unleash his very own brand of mayhem.

Keaton, Ryder, and O’Hara are joined in the cast by Jenna Ortega as Lydia’s daughter Astrid, Justin Theroux as a fellow named Rory, Monica Bellucci as Beetlejuice’s wife, and Willem Dafoe as a law enforcement officer in the afterlife. Arthur Conti is also in there, in an unspecified role.

What do you think of Jeffrey Jones only appearing in Beetlejuice Beetlejuice as a picture on a tombstone? Let us know by leaving a comment below.

Wizards of Waverly Place, sequel, series, Selena Gomez, David Henrie, Disney+

Before she solved murders at the Arconia alongside Steve Martin and Martin Short in Only Murders in the Building, Selena Gomez made magic happen for Disney as a part of Wizards of Waverly Place. The enchanting teen sitcom cast a spell on Mouseketeers for four seasons from 2007 to 2012, and now, toil and trouble are brewing again with a Wizards of Waverly Place sequel series under the working title Wizards.

Original stars Selena Gomez (Alex Russo) and David Henrie (Justin Russo) will take their wands out of storage to executive produce the revival project. At the same time, Gomez plans to appear in a guest role, with Henrie returning as a primary cast member for the Wizards of Waverly Place sequel series. The duo plans to launch Wizards on Disney Channel and Disney+ later this year. The project comes from Disney Branded Television.

Gomez reprises her iconic role in the premiere episode as Alex, with Henrie playing Justin in all episodes. Since their characters are grown, there’ll be some additions to the cast, including Max Matenko (PlatonicThis Is Us) as Justin’s youngest son, Milo, with Janice LeAnn Brown (Playing with BeethovenGrowing Up Immigrant) in the lead role as the young and powerful wizard Billie. Alkaio Thiele (Call Me KatSpider and His Amazing Friends) joins the cast as Justin’s oldest son, Roman, with Mimi Gianopulos (Baby DaddyGet a Job) playing Justin’s wife, Giada.

Wizards “will follow Justin Russo, who as an adult has chosen to lead a normal, mortal life with his family, Giada, Roman and Milo,” says the official logline. “When Justin’s sister Alex brings Billie to his home seeking help, Justin realizes he must dust off his magical skills to mentor the wizard-in-training while also juggling his everyday responsibilities – and safeguarding the future of the Wizard World.”

“‘Wizards of Waverly Place’ captivated hearts with its spellbinding adventures and big laughs, creating unforgettable memories for kids and families everywhere,” said Ayo Davis, president of Disney Branded Television, in a statement. “We can’t wait to step back into the magical world of ‘Wizards,’ inviting both longtime fans and a new generation to experience the enchantment alongside Selena, David, and our incredible cast and crew.”

When she’s not casting spells for the revival of a fan-favorite series, Selena Gomez is getting ready to entertain audiences in the Jaques Audiard-directed crime musical Emilia Perez. Set in Mexico, Emilia Perez focuses on Rita, a lawyer who receives an unexpected offer. She must help a feared cartel boss retire from his business and disappear forever by becoming the woman he’s always dreamed of being. Zoe Saldana (Guardians of the Galaxy), Edgar Ramirez (GoldPoint Break), and Karla Sofía Gascón (We Are the NoblesThe Lord of the Skies) also star as primary cast members.

david ayer, damien chazelle

David Ayer recently turned heads with The Beekeeper, a seemingly run-of-the-mill Jason Statham action film that turned out to be a strange mish-mash of ideas and bold choices that still feels like a fever dream. Ayer has had some hits under his belt, but as a whole, the filmmaker’s resume has some divisive receptions among them. This brings us to the interesting partnering with the Whiplash, La La Land and Babylon director Damien Chazelle. As Chazelle attempts to recover from Babylon‘s flopping, the First Man director will only be producing the new film that Ayer will helm.

Deadline reports that Ayer will be directing Heart of the Beast. The film will come from Chazelle and spouse Olivia Hamilton’s company, Wild Chicken Productions, as part of their first look deal with Paramount. Ayer and Chris Long will also produce alongside under their Cedar Park Entertainment banner. The screenplay comes from scribe Cameron Alexander, who will also be on board as an executive producer. Richard Raymond will be co-producing the film. According to Deadline, “The story follows a former Navy SEAL and his retired combat dog who attempt to return to civilization after a catastrophic accident deep in the Alaskan wilderness.”

Chazelle is a proven talent. However, his films have not exactly lit up the box office and the filmmaker has been weary of how he will get funding after Babylon failed to meet expectations. Recently, he stated, “I’ve been head in the sand. I’ve been sort of busy writing. So I’ll get a real taste of how it’s changed or not [since Babylon] once I get to finish this script and try to actually get it made. I’m in a sort of trepidatious state of mind, but I have no illusions. I won’t get a budget of Babylon size any time soon, or at least not on this next one.”

He continued, “Certainly, in financial terms, Babylon didn’t work at all…You try to not have that effect [on] what you’re doing creatively, but, at some level, it can’t help but affect it. But maybe that’s OK? I have a very mixed mind about it. Who knows. Maybe I won’t be able to get this one made. I have no idea. We’ll have to wait and see.”

Tap, tap, tap it in! It might be time to grab a nine iron and wash your balls because, according to Shooter McGavin actor Christopher MacDonald, Adam Sandler is developing Happy Gilmore 2! During an interview with Audacy’s 92.3 The Fan, MacDonald said he recently spoke with Sandler, who surprised him with a script for the duo’s 1996 sports comedy.

“I saw Adam [Sandler] about two weeks ago, and he says to me, ‘McDonald, you’re gonna love this,’” McDonald said. “I said, ‘What?’ He says, ‘How about that,’ and he shows me the first draft of ‘Happy Gilmore 2.’ Maybe you should cut that out [of this audio] because I don’t wanna be a liar, but he did show me that, and I thought, ‘Well, that would be awesome.’ So, it’s in the works. Fans demand it, dammit!”

Heh. Good luck keeping this out of the news, Mr. MacDonald. You’re right about fans demanding a sequel to the film featuring fisticuffs with Bob Barker, and there’s no putting that cat back in the golf bag.

While Variety has contacted Sandler’s reps, they’ve not received a comment.

While Happy Gilmore 2 could find several actors returning, including MacDonald, Julie Bowen (Modern FamilyHubie Halloween), Allen Covert (Grandma’s BoyThe Wedding Singer), and perhaps Joe Flarety (Detroit Rock CityFreaks and Geeks), key members of the original cast have unfortunately passed on.

Frances Bay, who plays Happy’s Grandma in Happy Gimore, died in 2011, while Richard Kiel, who played Happy’s frenemy-turned-fan, Mr. Larson, passed in 2014. Then there’s the late and great Carl Weathers, who played Happy’s friend and coach, Chubbs. The iconic Carl Weathers died of atherosclerotic cardiovascular disease in February, delivering an emotional haymaker to the Hollywood community. Chubbs passes away in the second act of Happy Gilmore, though his character returns in spectral form at the film’s conclusion. Sandler may pay tribute to Weathers in Happy Gilmore 2, which would be a nice touch.

While we await Sandler’s confirmation about Happy Gilmore 2, tell us in the comments below if you’d tee up for a sequel to the 1996 comedy in the comments section below.

After taking a look back at House II: The Second Story (a favorite of mine since childhood), House of 1000 Corpses (which celebrated its 20th anniversary last year), the awesomeness of Tales from the Crypt Presents: Demon Knight, the leg smashing in the Stephen King adaptation Misery, three separate moments from John Carpenter’s Big Trouble in Little China, the “Jason vs. Tina” battle in Friday the 13th Part VII: The New Blood, the “all hell breaks loose” sequence from the start of Zack Snyder’s Dawn of the Dead remake, and the opening sequence of Pitch Black, JoBlo’s own Lance Vlcek is continuing his The Best Scene video series with a look at a moment from the 1994 classic The Crow (watch it HERE) – which isn’t just getting a 4K release for its 30 anniversary. It’s also getting a remake.

Lance’s pick for the best scene in The Crow is the one where the Eric Draven character puts on the makeup and prepares for his mission of vengeance.

Directed by Alex Proyas from a screenplay by David J. Schow and John Shirley (with uncredited rewrites from Walon Green, Terry Hayes, René Balcer, and Michael S. Chernuchin), The Crow was based on the comic book series created by James O’Barr and has the following synopsis: The night before his wedding, musician Eric Draven and his fiancée are brutally murdered by members of a violent inner-city gang. On the anniversary of their death, Eric rises from the grave and assumes the gothic mantle of the Crow, a supernatural avenger. Tracking down the thugs responsible for the crimes and mercilessly murdering them, Eric eventually confronts head gangster Top Dollar to complete his macabre mission.

Brandon Lee turns in an incredible performance as our hero Eric Draven and is joined in the cast by Rochelle Davis, Ernie Hudson, Michael Wincott, Bai Ling, Sofia Shinas, Anna Levine, David Patrick Kelly, Angel David, Laurence Mason, Michael Massee, Tony Todd, and Jon Polito.

Possibly the greatest collection of films for a modern classic showcase is about to take place at the TCM Classic Film Festival. The Wrap has revealed that the channel Turner Classic Movies, which is dedicated to unaltered, unedited film broadcasts of renowned movies in the history of cinema, has revealed the list of titles and guest appearances that will be featured at this year’s festival. The festival this year will be commemorating the 30th anniversary of the network. The TCM Classic Festival will be taking place in Los Angeles on April 18-21.

The event will screen the world premiere of a brand-new restoration of the 1995 film Se7en, the dark crime thriller starring Brad Pitt and Morgan Freeman. Director David Fincher will be there personally to unveil the film in IMAX. Another big screening will be the director’s cut of Close Encounters of the Third Kind, which will play after Steven Spielberg makes an appearance for a conversation with UCLA Film School’s Howard Suber.

Additionally, Tim Robbins and Morgan Freeman will also be making guest appearances during a screening of their 1994 drama from Frank Darabont, The Shawshank Redemption. Diane Lane is set to be interviewed by TCM host Ben Mankiewicz with a following showing of her 1979 feature, A Little Romance. Director Nancy Meyers will be introducing the world premiere restoration of Alfred Hitchcock’s 1959 film North by Northwest, and Alexander Payne is set to introduce the John Wayne feature, The Searchers from 1956.

Also in honor of its 30th anniversary, director Gillian Armstrong’s adaptation of Little Women will screen with appearances by Trini Alvarado, Samantha Mathis, and Eric Stoltz. And finally, earlier this year, it was announced that Quentin Tarantino’s 1994 film Pulp Fiction is set to screen with Vincent Vega himself, John Travolta, in attendance at the showing, which is set to take place at the TCL Chinese Theatre in 35mm.

PLOT: Former child stars from Nickelodeon look back on their time with the network, sharing troubling stories about their relationship with programming guru Dan Schneider.

REVIEW: I must admit to complete ignorance regarding Nickelodeon’s empire of kids’ programming from the ’90s and 2000s. For one thing, I was born in ’81, so by the time these shows got popular, I was too old. For another, I’m Canadian and we don’t have Nickelodeon here. I remember when Good Burger came out in 1996, I had no idea why it was considered such a big deal, as I’d never heard of Kenan and Kel. Yet, over the last decade or so, working in the entertainment journalism sphere, I couldn’t help but hear a lot of whispers about Dan Schneider, the producer who ran a mini-empire of kids programming on the network.

quiet on the set tv review

Of course, we’ve all had a front-row seat to the tragedy of Amanda Bynes, with her becoming a cautionary tale for any parent thinking about putting their child in acting. Quiet on Set: The Dark Side of Kids TV shines a light on the many abuses suffered by the children who worked on many of Nickelodeon’s shows, with Schneider coming off as an emotionally abusive tyrant. One thing that’s important to note is that while there was indeed sexual abuse behind the scenes, as far as this documentary goes, Schneider’s name is still clear in that regard. More may come out at a later date, with Bynes having yet to give her side of the story, but in terms of sexual inappropriateness, the worst is Schneider’s constant use of sexually suggestive humour in his kid’s shows, but not more than that.

Even still, it’s hard to think of Schneider’s career ever bouncing back from this, with him accused of a litany of abuses from both his former child stars and adult colleagues. He’s depicted as sexist and emotionally abusive, although perhaps the worst about him is still to come, with the show acknowledging there’s a whole story waiting to be told about an effort to get Amanda Bynes emancipated from her parents that ended with him blocked from working actively on any of her shows.

However, Schneider’s story isn’t the most harrowing one in this documentary series. The series reveals that a pedophile named Jason Handy worked on the set as a production assistant and committed several crimes against children while under the network’s employ. Another horrifying story involves a dialogue coach/ actor named Brian Peck, a staple of Schneider’s shows. While working for the network, he became obsessed with one of the rising stars, Drake Bell, and sexually abused him, leading to him going to jail for 16 months before being allowed to resume his career working on other children’s programming (despite being on the sex offenders registry).

Quiet on the Set is generating a ton of press because it features Bell telling his story for the first time, and it’s a difficult one to hear. While he doesn’t blame Schneider (and, in fact, holds him in high regard), he admits Peck was able to run amuck, with him able to ice out Bell’s father, whose concerns about Peck grooming his son were dismissed as homophobia. Bell really does come off as a tragic, broken figure here, with him having been accused of his own inappropriate relationship with a minor over the last few years, making any major redemption for him rather unlikely.

What’s especially difficult to reckon with is that Peck’s Hollywood friends rallied around him despite knowing full well he was guilty. James Marsden, in particular, emerges as a less-than-admirable person here, along with Boy Meets World stars Will Friedle and Rider Strong, who have since acknowledged their support of Peck and apologized (Marsden has said nothing).

Indeed, Quiet on Set proves that kids TV, until recently, was shockingly lax about the way its child stars were protected. Who knows if things have improved, but any parent considering putting their child in showbiz may want to give this a watch. It’s harrowing but necessary.
