The Trailer Park Boys are going international. Blue Fox Entertainment recently dropped the first trailer for Standing on the Shoulders of Kitties: The Bubbles and the Shitrockers Story, the latest installment of the long-running Trailer Park Boys franchise.
Standing on the Shoulders of Kitties: The Bubbles and the Shitrockers Story follows Bubbles and his band, The Shitrockers, “on a wild tour following a performance in Nova Scotia where a viral clip earns them a spot on a European tour opening for Billy Bob Thornton and the Boxmasters. With Randy as their trusty roadie, the group heads to Prague – only to find themselves kicked off the tour, and busking to survive. With their European dream in jeopardy, Ricky and Julian race to save the day.” Mike Smith stars as Bubbles, alongside Robb Wells as Ricky, John Paul Tremblay as Julian, and Patrick Roach as Randy. The film also boasts some impressive special appearances from Billy Bob Thornton, Martin Freeman, Robert Sheehan, as well as Ronnie Woods of The Rolling Stones and Duff McKagan from Guns ‘n’ Roses.
The Trailer Park Boys began life as a movie released in 1999 before it was pitched as a TV series. The show follows the characters of the fictional Sunnyvale Trailer Park in Dartmouth, Nova Scotia and their misadventures, which more than frequently land them in and out of prison. After seven seasons on Showcase, the series was later revived on Netflix, where it aired for another five seasons. Over the years, the mockumentary sitcom has gained a passionate and loyal cult following and has spawned various spinoffs, specials, movies, and even an animated series.
Smith is actually a musician and fronts Bubbles and the Shitrockers, which will release a 14-track album on Spotify and Apple Music. The group will also embark on a genuine U.S. and European tour, which will include performances with Billy Bob Thornton and the Boxmasters.
Blue Fox Entertainment and Blue Fox Entertainment Canada will release Standing on the Shoulders of Kitties: The Bubbles and the Shitrockers Story nationwide in the U.S. and Canada on December 6th. Will you be watching?
Deadline reports that Amazon MGM Studios are looking for a new John and Jane to star in Mr. & Mrs. Smith season 2. There are apparently some A-list names in the mix, with the outlet saying that musician Billie Eilish could join the series. She previously made her acting debut in an episode of Donald Glover’s Swarm.
The first season of Mr. & Mrs. Smith starred Donald Glover and Maya Erskine as “two lonely strangers who land jobs working for a mysterious spy agency that offers them a glorious life of espionage, wealth, world travel, and a dream brownstone in Manhattan. The catch? New identities in an arranged marriage as Mr. and Mrs. John and Jane Smith. Now hitched, John and Jane navigate a high-risk mission every week while also facing a new relationship milestone. Their complex cover story becomes even more complicated when they catch real feelings for each other. What’s riskier: espionage or marriage?“
When the series was renewed for a second season earlier this year, it was reported that Glover and Erskine weren’t expected to return. This makes the show somewhat of an anthology series, with a new couple taking up the alias of Mr. & Mrs. Smith each season. The first season finale left things rather open-ended, with it unclear if Glover and Erskine’s characters survived.
Our own Alex Maidy was a big fan of the series. “Mr. & Mrs. Smith is a fantastic series that could end with this run of eight episodes or carry on for a second season as the finale is structured in a way that would work for either future path,” Maidy wrote in his review. “The action is well done and the spycraft never feels outside of the realm of what realistic characters could do, but there are so many resonant moments in this series including broken bones, farts, and relationship minutae that work perfectly in the context of this story. Maya Erskine and Donald Glover make a great team and I feel this series eclipses the feature film that inspired it, mostly because this is absolutely nothing like it. Chock full of great music and one of the coolest on-screen apartments/homes in recent memory, Mr. & Mrs. Smith is the definitive spy-romcom/relationship drama and is a solid binge-watch this weekend.“
Who would you like to see star in Mr. & Mrs. Smith season 2? Could you see Billie Eilish in one of the lead roles?
Paul King seems to have that magic touch for family-friendly movies, and Deadline reports that Disney has recruited the director to helm a new Prince Charming movie.
While many Disney movies feature a Prince Charming-type character, the actual Prince Charming appeared in Cinderella as a love interest to the title character. However, according to insiders, this Prince Charming movie “will not specifically be linked to Cinderella.” Simon Barnaby and Jon Croker are set to co-write the script alongside King.
Although Paul King directed the first two Paddington movies, he didn’t return for Paddington in Peru as he made the difficult choice to helm Wonka instead. “It was really difficult, because I’d spent eight years with the bear and I felt such incredible love for him,” King said. “He’s an animated character, and the design and the love that went into every single follicle was labor intensive and done with such heart. So it’s kind of like sending your kid off to school and going, ‘I hope you’ll be okay!’ But I also know it was the right thing to do.“
Paul King added that “because there’s so much Paddington source material, you could make 50 Paddington movies. I’d be a hundred years old and still doing Paddington.” If there was only enough source material to make two or three films, King said that things might have been different, but he was “really pleased” with where they left Paddington after the second movie and that it was “time to let go and give somebody else a shot.“
Paddington in Peru “follows Paddington and the Brown family as they visit Aunt Lucy in Peru. A thrilling adventure ensues when a mystery plunges them into an unexpected journey through the Amazon rainforest and to the mountain peaks of Peru.” Ben Whishaw returns to voice Paddington, with Hugh Bonneville, Emily Mortimer, Madeleine Harris, Samuel Joslin, Julie Walters, Jim Broadbent, Olivia Colman, Antonio Banderas, and Imelda Staunton rounding out the cast.
Paddington in Peru will debut in the U.K. on November 8th, followed by a U.S. release on January 17th.
Whether you listened to them or not, it was hard to ignore the phenomenon that was One Direction. The group, consisting of Harry Styles, Louis Tomlinson, Niall Horan, Zayn Malik, and Liam Payne, became one of the highest-selling boy bands of all time, selling over 70 million records worldwide. So fans were naturally shocked by Liam Payne’s unexpected death at the age of just 31.
In a group message on Instagram, the other members of One Direction paid tribute to Liam Payne. “We’re completely devastated by the news of Liam’s passing,” they wrote. “In time, and when everyone is able to, there will be more to say. But for now, we will take some time to grieve and process the loss of our brother, who we loved dearly. The memories we shared with him will be treasured forever. For now, our thoughts are with his family, his friends, and the fans who loved him alongside us. We will miss him terribly. We love you Liam.“
Louis Tomlinson shared his own tribute to his former One Direction brother: “I am beyond devastated to be writing this but yesterday I lost a brother. Liam was somebody I looked up to everyday, such a positive, funny, and kind soul,” he wrote. “I first met Liam when he was 16 and I was 18, I was instantly amazed by his voice but more importantly as time went on I got a chance to see the kind brother I’d longed all my life for. Liam was an incredible song writer with a great sense of melody, we often spoke of getting back in the studio together to try and recreate the writing chemistry we had built up in the band. And for the record, Liam was in my opinion the most vital part of One Direction. His experience from a young age, his perfect pitch, his stage presence, his gift for writing. The list goes on. Thank you for shaping us Liam.” Tomlinson also shared a direct message to Liam.
A message to you Liam if you’re listening, I feel beyond lucky to have had you in my life but I’m really struggling with the idea of saying goodbye. I’m so grateful that we got even closer since the band, speaking on the phone for hours , reminiscing about all the thousands of amazing memories we had together is a luxury I thought I’d have with you for life. I would have loved to share the stage with you again but it wasn’t to be.
I want you to know that if Bear ever needs me I will be the Uncle he needs in his life and tell him stories of how amazing his dad was. I wish I got chance to say goodbye and tell you one more time how much I loved you. Payno, my boy, one of my best friends, my brother, I love you mate. Sleep well X
Zayn Malik also shared his own statement. “Liam, I have found myself talking out loud to you, hoping you can hear me, I can’t help but think selfishly that there was so many more conversations for us to have in our lives,” he wrote. “I never got to thank you for supporting me through some of the most difficult times in my life. When I was missing home as a 17 yr old kid you would always be there with a positive outlook and reassuring smile and let me know you were my friend and that I was loved. Even though you were younger than me you were always more sensible than me, you were headstrong, opinionated, and gave no f***s about telling people when they were wrong.“
Malik continued, “Even though we butted heads because of this a few times, I always secretly respected you for it. When it came to the music Liam, you were the most qualified in every sense. I knew nothing in comparison, I was a novice child with no experience and you were already a professional. Was always happy to know, no matter what happened on stage, we could always rely on you to know which way to steer the ship next. I lost a brother when you left us and can’t explain to you what I’d give to just give you a hug one last time and say goodbye to you properly and tell you that I loved and respected you dearly. I will cherish all the memories I have with you in my heart forever, there is no words that justify or explain how I feel right now other than beyond devastated. I hope that wherever you are right now you are good and are at peace and you know how loved you are. Love you bro.“
Josh Brolin (Outer Range) may not be charging up his power ring anytime soon, but he is in final negotiations to play the villain in Edgar Wright’s upcoming reimagining of The Running Man.
Glen Powell (Twisters) stars in The Running Man as a “desperate man, needing money for his sick daughter, who joins the most popular show, The Running Man, in which teams of killers hunt down contestants. The longer that a contestant survives, the more money that person makes. But as the game show’s producers and killers will find out, this desperate man will break all the rules and expose the show’s dark secrets.” Katy O’Brian (Love Lies Bleeding) and Daniel Ezra (All American) have also joined the cast. Detail on who Brolin will be playing are being kept under wraps, but Deadline states he will “play the antagonist who is behind the violent reality show.“
Edgar Wright is directing The Running Man from a script he co-wrote with Michael Bacall. It’s based on Stephen King’s novel of the same name, which was published in 1982 under the pseudonym Richard Bachman. Wright has previously said that The Running Man remake will be closer to the original Stephen King novel than the Arnold Schwarzenegger movie. “I like the film but I like the book more, and they didn’t really adapt the book,” Wright said. “Even as a teenager when I saw the Schwarzenegger film I was like, ‘Oh, this isn’t like the book at all!’ And I think, ‘Nobody’s [done] that book.’ So when that came up, I was thinking, and Simon Kinberg says, ‘Do you have any interest in The Running Man?’ I said, ‘You know what? I’ve often thought that that book is something crying out to be adapted.’ Now, that doesn’t mean that it’s easy!“
Josh Brolin can currently be seen starring alongside Peter Dinklage in Brothers. The action comedy “tells the story of a reformed criminal (Brolin) whose attempt at going straight is derailed when he reunites with his sanity-testing twin brother (Dinklage) on a cross-country road trip for the score of a lifetime. Dodging bullets, the law, and an overbearing mother along the way, they must heal their severed family bond before they end up killing each other.” The film is now streaming on Prime Video. Brolin is also set to appear in Rian Johnson’s Wake Up Dead Man: A Knives Out Mystery, which will be released on Netflix next year.
A few years ago, George A. Romero‘s long lost 1973 film The Amusement Park was released through the Shudder streaming service in North America, the UK, Ireland, Australia, and New Zealand. It was then given a Blu-ray release. Now, our friends at Bloody Disgusting have revealed that The Amusement Park is getting a graphic novel adaptation that Storm King Comics will be releasing as part of their John Carpenter Presents line! The graphic novel’s full title is John Carpenter Presents George A. Romero’s The Amusement Park, and it’s “an all-new artistic interpretation of the unique film.”
Romero was hired to makeThe Amusement Park by the Lutheran Society, and it was meant to be a TV PSA on elder abuse. The film was shelved when the Lutheran Society saw how strange and disturbing it was, but thankfully Romero’s fans have the opportunity to watch it now, fifty years later. The film stars Lincoln Maazel of Romero’s Martin as an elderly man who finds himself disoriented and increasingly isolated as the pains, tragedies and humiliations of aging in America are manifested through roller coasters and chaotic crowds.
Writer Jeff Whitehead and illustrator Ryan Carr have worked together to make John Carpenter Presents George A. Romero’s The Amusement Park a visually stunning interpretation of the film came to life on the page. This project was developed at the George A. Romero Foundation, and the Foundation brought it to John Carpenter and Sandy King at Storm King Comics when they were seeking distribution. In the graphic novel, an impatient businessman in his 20s meets an elderly man who spins a fantastic tale about a long-gone amusement park. As the conversation continues, the younger man is disturbed to learn the story of an elderly man eager to recapture the memories of youth. Instead of pleasant memories, however, this trip to the amusement park becomes a surreal microcosm of aging and its inherent challenges as bodies and minds begin to break down. The old man finds himself abused, pushed into a horrifying series of attractions that mimic the later stages of life. Increasingly battered both mentally and physically, the man realizes he is trapped in a loop, force to relive the harrowing experience over and over. And the young man, William Lincoln, soon discovers that he and the old man have much more in common than they suspect.
Carpenter provided the following statement: “George A. Romero’s films are legendary. They already were legendary when I was just a student, and The Amusement Park has a fascinating history. This is a project that’s so important to his legacy as a filmmaker, so I’m glad to lend my name to it.“
King added, “John and George often talked about ways they might collaborate, and this project felt like a fantastic opportunity. We’re really happy to come together for this project, which represents George Romero’s vision through and through, filtered through the artistic lens of Ryan and Jeff.“
Suzanne Desrocher-Romero, founder and president of The GARF, had this to say: “The Amusement Park holds a special place in George’s body of work because it tackles such a deeply human issue—ageism—through the lens of horror. Adapting it into a graphic novel allows us to bring his unique vision to a whole new audience. We are thrilled to collaborate with John Carpenter and Storm King Comics on this project, which honors George’s legacy in such a meaningful way.“
John Carpenter Presents George A. Romero’s The Amusement Park will make its debut online and in comic stores on May 7, 2025. It will then be available through booksellers on May 20th.
This announcement isn’t the only honor Romero has received this month, as last weekend, the NYC Department of Transportation and City Council member Amanda Farias teamed up to co-name a street in the Bronx after him. The co-naming ceremony took place on the northeast corner of Metropolitan Avenue and Metropolitan Oval in Parkschester, where Romero grew up. That intersection is now known as George A. Romero Way. Farias said, “George Romero’s legacy goes beyond film; he influenced generations of filmmakers and sparked meaningful conversations about societal issues. It is an honor to recognize his roots here in Parkchester and ensure his contributions to cinema and culture are forever remembered.“

Back in 2015, it was announced that The Witch, The Lighthouse, and The Northman writer/director Robert Eggers (who was, at that time, had only made The Witch) was planning to remake F.W. Murnau’s 1922 silent classic Nosferatu (watch it HERE). It took Eggers several years to get to Nosferatu, though, and we’ll finally have the chance to see his take on the concept when his movie reaches theatres on Wednesday, December 25th. About eight and half months after Eggers’ Nosferatu was first announced, we heard that filming had begun on a separate Nosferatu remake. Or, as the director referred to it, a remix. That was David Lee Fisher’s Nosferatu: A Symphony of Horror… and that movie has now made its way out into the world! Fisher’s movie is available for purchase on Prime Video, going for the price of $4.99. It will also be released through Apple TV tomorrow, October 18th. To help you decide whether or not Fisher’s Nosferatu: A Symphony of Horror is something you’d like to check out, we have the trailer embedded above.
Fisher has experience “remixing” silent classics. His previous movie was the 2005 remake of Robert Wiene’s 1920 film The Cabinet of Dr. Caligari. For Fisher’s version, the actors performed their roles in front of a green screen so they could be inserted into digital recreations of the original sets. That is the exact same approach he took for his Nosferatu.
Playing the eponymous vampire is veteran creature performer Doug Jones (The Shape of Water). He’s joined in the cast by Emrhys Cooper (Vanity), Joely Fisher (Ellen), Sarah Carter (Falling Skies), Thomas Ian Nicholas (American Pie), Jack Turner (Stitchers), Time Winters (9-1-1), and Sara Montez (Birds of Prey).
An unofficial adaptation of Bram Stoker’s Dracula, the original Nosferatu has the following synopsis: In this highly influential silent horror film, the mysterious Count Orlok (Max Schreck) summons Thomas Hutter (Gustav von Wangenheim) to his remote Transylvanian castle in the mountains. The eerie Orlok seeks to buy a house near Hutter and his wife, Ellen (Greta Schroeder). After Orlok reveals his vampire nature, Hutter struggles to escape the castle, knowing that Ellen is in grave danger. Meanwhile Orlok’s servant, Knock (Alexander Granach), prepares for his master to arrive at his new home. Werner Herzog directed his own remake of the film in 1979.

Sony Pictures TV and Amazon MGM Studios are starting to feel like Sisyphus as they hit the reset button on the adaptation of Santa Monica Studio’s God of War. According to Deadline, showrunner/executive producer Rafe Judkins and EPs Hawk Ostby and Mark Fergus have exited the project after completing several scripts for the show’s first season. Jointly, the studios want to move in a different direction. However, other sources tell Deadline Sony and Prime Video were pleased with what the trio produced.
While this is a significant setback, Sony and Amazon MGM Studios remain committed to the God of War TV series. The studios plan to establish a writers’ room to forge new ideas for the ambitious adaptation. Judkins remains committed to his overall deal with Sony and continues to work on other projects linked to the flagship studio.
When Sony announced the God of War TV series, its plot closely followed the events of the hit video game franchise’s last two chapters. In 2022, Sony said the show “follows Kratos, aka the God of War, who, after exiling himself from his blood-soaked past in ancient Greece, hangs up his weapons forever in the Norse realm of Midgard. When his beloved wife dies, Kratos sets off on a dangerous journey with his estranged son to spread her ashes from the highest peak—his wife’s final wish. Kratos soon realizes the journey is an epic quest in disguise, one which will test the bonds between father and son and force Kratos to battle new Gods and monsters for the fate of the world.”
Universally beloved by gamers, the God of War series began on Sony’s PlayStation 2 console. Several games belonging to the God of War franchise have been released across multiple consoles, handheld gaming platforms, and PC. Each chapter has set Kratos against new threats and built upon his extensive skill set. In 2018, Sony rebooted God of War and introduced Kratos’ son, Atreus, a Greek and Norse pantheon hybrid. With plenty of mythology to explore, a God of War TV series could result in an expansive (and expensive) fantasy action epic for Amazon.
The latest video game in the God of War franchise, God of War: Ragnarok, won five awards at the 2022 Game Awards, including Best Narrative, Best Score and Music, Best Audio Design, Best Performance (Christopher Judge as Kratos), Innovation in Accessibility, and Best Action/Adventure Game.
What direction will Sony’s God of War TV series take if it doesn’t adhere to the original pitch? How much money are the studios willing to spend on a show potentially as epic as The Wheel of Time or The Lord of the Rings: The Rings of Power? Okay, maybe God of War isn’t Lord of the Rings levels of massive, but you understand what I mean. It could be a while until we hear more about this project. I hope they figure it out and present something to look forward to.
