Prime Video is all in on Alan Ritchson and his mega-popular Reacherseries. The studio announced Reacher Season 4 on Wednesday, just a few days after greenlightingThe Untitled Neagley Project, a spinoff of the Reacher series starring Maria Sten. The second season of Reacher did gangbusters for Prime Video in 2023 after becoming the most-viewed release on the streaming platform.
According to Prime Video, Reacher Season 3 is inspired by the seventh book in Lee Child’s best-selling series, Persuader. In the book, Reacher must go undercover to rescue an informant held by a haunting foe from his past. Maria Sten reprises her role as Frances Neagley in Season 3, with Anthony Michael Hall, Sonya Cassidy, Brian Tee, Johnny Berchtold, Robert Montesinos, Daniel David Stewart, and Olivier Richters along for the action-packed ride.
“Reacher has become a phenomenon that continues to resonate with our global customers beyond our wildest expectations and we are thrilled to bring the series back for an additional season,” said Vernon Sanders, head of television at Amazon MGM Studios. “We are looking forward to more action and adventure from the immensely talented team behind the series including Nick Santora, Alan Ritchson, Lee Child, Skydance, and CBS Studios.”
For more details about what to expect for Reacher Season 3, check out Amazon’s official description for the Lee Child novel Persuader below:
Jack Reacher lives for the moment. Without a home. Without commitment. And with a burning desire to right wrongs – and rewrite his own agonizing past. DEA Susan Duffy is living for the future, knowing that she has made a terrible mistake by putting one of her own female agents into a death trap within a heavily guarded Maine mansion.
Staging a brilliant ruse, Reacher hurtles into the dark heart of a vast criminal enterprise. Trying to rescue an agent whose time is running out, Reacher enters a crime lord’s waterfront fortress. There, he will find a world of secrecy and violence – and confront some unfinished business from his own past.
Alan Ritchson has two film projects in production, including the Patrick Hughes action thriller War Machine and the Potsy Ponciroli-directed crim drama Motor City. War Machine, starring Dennis Quaid, Esai Morales, and Jai Courtney, focuses onthe final recruits of a grueling special ops boot camp who encounter a deadly force from beyond this world. In Motor City, Ritchson plays John Miller, who, in 1970s Detroit, falls in love with a local gangster’s girl. In retaliation, the gangster enacts a frame job to send the innocent man to prison. Life ruined, Miller plots a revenge campaign against the man who took his girl away.

Back in July, it was announced that Tessa Thompson of the Thor and Creed franchises had signed on to star in and executive produce a limited series called His & Hers that will stream on Netflix. Since then, we’ve heard the names of several actors who have joined Thompson in the cast – and now we know the names of ten more! Deadline reports that Rhoda Griffis (The Blind Side), newcomer Tiffany Ho, Dave Maldonado (The Tomorrow War), Kristen Maxwell (Pretty Little Liars: Original Sin), Leah Merritt (Friendship Never Dies), Mike Pniewski (Hightown), Astrid Rotenberry (American Sports Story), newcomer Ellie Rose Sawyer, and Jamie Tisdale (From Dusk Till Dawn: The Series) have all landed recurring roles on the show. Also new to the cast, taking on a recurring role, is Isabelle Kusman, who has previously worked on three feature films. Those films have given her the opportunity to work with Paul Thomas Anderson, Steven Spielberg, and Francis Ford Coppola, as they happened to be Licorice Pizza, The Fabelmans, and Megalopolis.
The series is based on a novel by Alice Feeney that has been described as “a twisty, smart, psychological thriller. A gripping tale of suspense, told by expertly-drawn narrators that will keep readers guessing until the very end.“ William Oldroyd (Lady Macbeth), Bill Dubuque (Ozark), and Dee Johnson (Fellow Travelers) are writing the show, which will consist of six episodes and will be moving the setting. While the book took place in England, the show will be set in Atlanta, Georgia. Oldroyd is also set to direct the first episode, and Johnson is serving as the showrunner. Filming is expected to begin this fall.
Thompson will be taking on the role of Anna, who lives in haunting reclusivity, fading away from her friends and career as a news anchor. But when she overhears about a murder in Dahlonega – the sleepy town where she grew up – Anna is snapped back to life, pouncing on the case and searching for answers. Detective Jack Harper is strangely suspicious of her involvement, chasing her into the crosshairs of his own investigation. There are two sides to every story: his & hers, which means someone is always lying.
Also in the cast are Poppy Liu (Space Cadet) and Chris Bauer (Fellow Travelers) are in the cast, while Variety adds that Crystal Fox (In the Heat of the Night), Sunita Mani (GLOW), Rebecca Rittenhouse (Unfriended: Dark Web), and Marin Ireland (The Umbrella Academy), plus Jon Bernthal of The Punisher and Pablo Schreiber of Halo.
Bernthal will be playing Detective Jack Harper, “a Sheriff’s Office detective who lost his last job and is now working in his small hometown of Dahlonega, Georgia, where he lives with his sister and niece. He is married to newscaster Anna, but the two are estranged, their relationship complicated by loss and betrayal. Jack is a good man who doesn’t always make good decisions and is deeply troubled by the murder case he’s just picked up.” Schreiber’s character is Richard, “one of the best cameramen at WSK TV News, and he’s also the husband of hot new anchor Lexy Jones, who slid into her position during the recent absence of regular anchor Anna Andrews. Richard is chosen by Anna to be her cameraman when, upon her return, she picks up the story of a murder in Dahlonega as a field reporter.“ Liu will play Helen Wang, “the headmistress at St. Hilary’s Academy who is fiercely self-protective. She is a good friend of the murder victim and becomes increasingly irritated and incensed by Anna’s reporting, but Anna can’t help but feel as though Helen is hiding something.” Bauer will play Clyde Duffie, “Rachel’s husband and a pizza chain mogul who is very candid about his immense wealth. After Rachel is found murdered in the woods, he becomes a person of interest for Detective Jack Harper and the secrets he keeps may make him the perfect suspect.” Fox’s character is Alice, Anna’s mother, “who still lives in her house in Dahlonega, Georgia. Strong, says what she thinks, lives alone but maybe shouldn’t. She hasn’t heard from her daughter in a year, but she knows why. Her son-in-law, Detective Jack Harper, has been watching over her as her health has been in decline which has resulted in some odd behavior around town.” Mani has been cast as Priya: “Earnestly efficient, eager to please, and fascinated by murder, Priya is a new Sheriff’s Office detective and partner of Detective Jack Harper in Dahlonega, Georgia. Having left the big city to work in a small town, Priya brings a sharp quirkiness to the job that her mentor Jack finds both endearing and annoying.” Rittenhouse is Lexy: “Blonde hair, Hollywood smile, smart, professional, and driven by raw ambition, Lexy is now the anchor at WSK-TV News — a position the hugely popular Anna Andrews had previously held for years. As a new field reporter at WSK, Lexy capitalized on Anna’s leave of absence, leapfrogging into anchor desk position. Though she’s ‘delighted’ to see Anna back at the news station, she has no intention of giving up the anchor desk.” Ireland’s character is Zoe: “Sharp-tongued and bored, Zoe lives in her parent’s house with Detective Jack Harper, and her six-year old daughter Meg. Her love of wine and her too-tight sweatpants suggests she’s a woman who peaked in high school. She’s letting Jack stay with her till he gets back on his feet, and the murder in their small town is equally exciting and shocking when she learns who the victim is.“
Tisdale will play Rachel, “a former friend of Anna’s from St. Hilary’s whose life in Dahlonega is not at all what it seems.” Kusman’s character is Teen Rachel. Ho is Teen Helen, Maxwell is Teen Anna, and Merritt is Teen Zoe. Rotenberry is Catherine Kelly, “an awkward teen who doesn’t seem to fit in at St. Hilary’s Academy.” Griffis will play Dr. Carol Turner, “a seasoned pathologist who performs autopsies with clinical charm.” Maldonado will be “a southern, no-nonsense sheriff who is determined to keep the status quo.” Pniewski takes on the role of Jim Pruss, “the smart, ratings-obsessed general manager at WSK news in Atlanta. Jim is fond of former anchor Anna Andrews but must prioritize the newcomer that took her place, Lexy Jones.” Sawyer makes her TV acting debut as Meg, “who, playful and wise beyond her years, adores her Uncle Jack.“
Oldroyd, Dubuque, and Johnson are executive producers on the show, and Thompson is executive producing through her Viva Maude production company. Kristen Campo of Campout Productions is also an executive producer, as are Jessica Chastain and Kelly Carmichael of Freckle Films and Kishori Rajan of Viva Maude.

Netflix’s Outer Banks absolutely took over the streaming service in 2020. While all of us were stuck inside, a group of teens exploring outdoors appealed to many. It was like watching grown-up Goonies. Only less sad. And it has continued that success even post-Pandemic, with its fourth season set to release October 10th. After the cliffhanger at the end of Season 3, I’m sure fans are chomping at the bit to find out what happens to the Pogues.
Having not watched the series before, I did a quick catchup so I could talk to the cast of the show. That’s right, we talked to Chase Stokes, Madelyn Cline, Madison Bailey, Rudy Pankow, Drew Starkey, J.D., and Carlacia Grant about their experience during Season 4. From their rituals to help them get into character, to their favorite places in the filming location of Charleston, South Carolina, we get into it all. But my favorite moment probably came when I asked them about life lessons they’ve taken from TV/Film. It’s a very fun moment and worth a look in the video above. We even had to cut a little portion out as they talked about the second half of the season (which doesn’t release until November 7th). So if you’re a fan, there may be some hints at what’s to come.
OUTER BANKS: SEASON 4 plot synopsis:
Following last season’s 18-month flash-forward showing Wes Genrette’s proposal for the Pogues to find Blackbeard’s treasure, Season 4 takes us back in time to the lead-up of that moment. After finding the gold at El Dorado, the Pogues return to the OBX and commit to having a “normal” life. They’ve built themselves a new safe haven, officially dubbed “Poguelandia 2.0”, where they live together and run a fairly successful bait, tackle, and charter tour shop. But after some financial setbacks, John B, Sarah, Kiara, JJ, Pope, and Cleo take Wes up on his offer, drawn back into the “G” game for a whole new adventure. But before they know it, they’re well in over their heads, with dangerous new enemies hot on their heels racing them to the treasure. Meanwhile, their problems are only growing, and they’re forced to question their past, present, and future – who they really are, has it all been worth it, and how much are they willing to risk?
OUTER BANKS: SEASON 4: PART 1 STREAMS ON NETFLIX ON OCTOBER 10TH, 2024 WITH PART 2 RELEASING NOVEMBER 7TH, 2024.
As movies like Bone Tomahawk and Tremors 4 have proven, horror and Westerns are two great tastes that taste great together. I always like to hear that another horror / Western blend is in the works – so I was glad to see The Hollywood Reporter announce that the folk horror thriller The Wolf and the Lamb, which is set “during the western expansion of the 1870s,” is coming our way. Cassandra Scerbo of the Sharknado franchise and Adrianne Palicki of The Orville star in the film, which is currently in production, with filming taking place in Montana.
The Wolf and the Lamb marks the feature writing and directing debut of Michael Schilf. Scerbo is taking on the role of a widowed school teacher searching for her only son, who is the latest child to go missing in a tight-knit mining camp. But when the son miraculously returns, he is more monster than man. We’ll have to wait and see what kind of monster action we’ll be getting in this movie. Is this some kind of changeling, or something even worse?
Scerbo and Palicki are joined in the cast by Jaydon Clark (The Rookie), Q’orianka Kilcher (The New World), Angus Macfadyen (Braveheart), Eric Nelsen (1883), Sammi Rotibi (Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice), James Landry Hebert (Horizon: An American Saga – Chapter 1), Zach McGowan (Black Sails), Elias Kacavas (Pretty Little Liars: Original Sin), Kevin Keppy (Smile), Mike Manning (Days of Our Lives), Rob Nagle (Good Trouble), Hanna Balicki (Showdown on the Brazos), William Rothlein (Condition Red), and the legendary Clint Howard (The Wraith).
The Wolf and the Lamb is being produced by Chase Kuker, Jordan Kuker, and Miah Smith of Lunar Door, as well as Nicholas Clark and Jordan Wagner. James Macmillan and Scerbo of One Of One are also producing, along with Ve Neill. Manning serves as executive producer. Winter State Entertainment will be handling the post-production.

There are still so many unanswered questions as to what exactly went down with Jamie Foxx when he experienced a “medical complication” back in April 2023. And while Foxx can disclose anything he chooses and has called this a “personal journey”, it has left fans in the dark even as he continues making public appearances. Now that Jamie Foxx has concluded his three-night run of shows dubbed One More Chance, he is detailing what it took to get back on the stage.
While celebrating backstage at one of the shows, Jamie Foxx told those around him, “It was an excruciating time to be able to open those wounds every single day for three nights. It was excruciating because the worry is what gets you. We’ve got a great show in the room, but we don’t know what they may laugh or what they may not laugh at. Any comedian will tell you that’s the thing, the worry is the thing. Usually, when you do a stand-up special, you go out for a year and a half and work every nook and cranny, then you tape it. You don’t just show up in Atlanta and turn the camera on.”
With that, Jamie Foxx joked that this show took a lot out of him and he might go back to the true basics of comedy. “I am never going to go through this again. My next jokes will start out, ‘knock, knock. I’ll do an hour and a half of ‘knock, knock’ jokes…Let’s sit back, watch it, and build toward a newer, brighter and healthier future.”
While it has been reported that Jamie Foxx’s stand-up show will eventually be made available on Netflix, no details have yet to be released. While he got his start in the stand-up scene back in the late ‘80s, Foxx has only had a few official specials, beginning with 1993’s Straight from the Foxxhole.
As for what else Jamie Foxx has in store elsewhere, Back in Action (alongside Cameron Diaz) will debut on Netflix in January, while he will also star alongside Robert De Niro and Scott Eastwood in Tin Soldier.
We here at JoBlo.com have to commend Jamie Foxx for this run of shows, embracing the opportunity head-on and on his own terms.
Welcome back to C’Mon Hollywood – a revival of a column we used to do focused on everything that’s wrong (or right) with the stuff coming out of our favourite land of make-believe. In this episode, our host, Taylor James Johnson, goes all in on what he sees as a kind of quasi-civil war between film critics. You can check out the video above, but here’s a taste:
What is the conflict between film critics all about?
Advocates of “Woke Cinema” (and Anti-Woke Cinema) have unfortunately created a kind of civil war of film criticism. It often feels that people who claim to be fans of certain things are more fans of what the character represents more so than the quality of the production itself. This is totally fine but this attitude has created a new type of fandom and a new way to critique a film.
This film criticism war sounds a little something like this…
“She-Hulk was the worst thing ever!” – “Oh yeah? That means you hate women!”
“Sound of Freedom wasn’t the greatest film ever made!” – “Oh yeah? You support sex trafficking!”
That nonsense is all around us—it feels like we can’t have real, constructive conversations and disagreements on film anymore.
Discussing movies used to be like, “Oh, how I just adored the pacing and suspense and camera movement! And how the characters grew and learned from the predicaments they overcame!” But now it feels like you have to also mention and praise or condemn the diversity of the film depending on what end of the spectrum you’re on.
Do people root for franchises to fail?
At times, I’ve even found myself hoping for franchises to fail. As a lifelong fan of film, for the first time ever, I found myself rooting for a film to fail… hoping for new instalments to be bad. Maybe in the back of my mind, I thought that this would teach those Hollywood fat cats not to push agendas over art. I have to admit, it was hilarious that Madame Web bombed but we should all want all movies to be good! Right? We should be rooting for these filmmakers to make the best super duper cinema they can! But now it’s a political statement to not like a superhero movie… but it was also hilarious when Morbius bombed and sometimes Jared Leto appears to be a straight white cis male…so I’m not sexist! Hooray!
I like inclusion and diversity when it seems natural, and we know the pandering and pushing of “the message” is all BS because the woke stuff gets cut out for the non-woke countries (Disney has been guilty of this numerous times). These big corporations don’t actually care about your cause or your gender identity or your skin colour…. green is the only colour they care about, and I ain’t talking about She-Hulk.
And that “green” new deal doesn’t seem to be working out; a lot of so-called “woke” products keep flopping. And stock holders, chairpeople and even executives are beginning to speak out. But what will this all change? Or has the damage been done? Is there any coming back from this? Will I ever want to watch a Marvel/Disney/StarWars thing again?
For more of this conversation and to weigh in – check out Taylor’s video (embedded above) and let us know in the comments if you like this kind of content.
At the start of last year, former DC Films boss Walter Hamada signed a first-look deal with Paramount Pictures, the idea being that he would become, as Deadline put it, “the architect of Paramount’s mainstream horror genre pod, with the mission to release several low- to mid-budget films per year across theatrical and streaming.” Recently, there have been casting announcements for a movie called Primate, which is being directed by genre regular Johannes Roberts and is part of Hamada’s horror-minded efforts at Paramount. Now, Deadline has broken the news that another Hamada horror project that’s moving forward at Paramount has gotten another genre regular, Andre Ovredal, to sign on as director.
Ovredal will be directing this other film from a screenplay written by Zachary Donohue and T.W. Burgess. Donohue previously directed and co-wrote the 2013 found footage horror film The Den and wrote and directed the TV series The Unknowable. Burgess is an award-winning writer and digital artist who has written several graphic novels. Details on the story they’ve crafted for this project are being kept under wraps… and this project is so secretive, Paramount hasn’t even revealed a title.
Hamada is producing Primate through his 18hz production company alongside John Hodges and Bradley Pilz. For this movie, he’ll be producing with It screenwriter / Salem’s Lot director Gary Dauberman of Coin Operated.
Andre Ovredal’s previous credits include The Last Voyage of the Demeter, Mortal, Scary Stories to Tell in the Dark, The Autopsy of Jane Doe, and Troll Hunter. We recently heard that the sequel to Scary Stories to Tell in the Dark has stalled out and Francis Lawrence is making the Stephen King (technically, Richard Bachman) adaptationThe Long Walk, which Ovredal was once attached to. Since he’s missing out on those highly anticipated projects, it’s good to hear he has found a different horror project to direct.
Are you a fan of Andre Ovredal’s work, and are you glad to hear that Walter Hamada has brought him in to direct one of his Paramount horror films? Share your thoughts on this one by leaving a comment below.

Edie Brickell and New Bohemians “A Hard Rain’s A-Gonna Fall” – Music Video
While this year has had its fair share of surprising flops, Joker: Folie à Deux is probably one of the more surprising ones. It had the hype of Lady Gaga taking on the role of Harley Quinn and the musical twist potentially lent itself to exploring interesting territory as an R-rated sequel to a notorious comic book villain. The movie’s response would become incredibly underwhelming, and Blu-ray.com has announced that Warner Bros. is already set to release the film’s 4K Blu-ray and standard Blu-ray release on December 17.
Joker: Folie à Deux stars Joaquin Phoenix, Lady Gaga, Zazie Beetz, Steve Coogan, and Harry Lawtey. The description reads, “He is no longer alone! Joker: Folie à Deux starring Lady Gaga and Joaquin Phoenix, Oscar winner for his performance in the 2019 feature Joker. Based on DC characters, the film tells the story of Joker and Harley Quinn, since the beginning of the emblematic villain couple.”
Not much has been announced by way of special features, but the specs include:
Video Codec: HEVC / H.265 Resolution: Native 4K (2160p) HDR: Dolby Vision, HDR10 Original aspect ratio: 2.20:1
Playback 4K Blu-ray: Region free 2K Blu-ray: Region A
Despite being a sequel to a movie that made a billion dollars worldwide, Joker: Folie à Deux has posted a truly disastrous opening. According to Deadline, the film didn’t even crack $40 million this weekend, with them estimating a dismal $39 million finish. It seems fans didn’t go for Todd Phillips’s rather ambitious idea to make this a musical, with it peppered with fantasy musical sequences in between some rather dull courtroom melodrama. The star pairing of Joaquin Phoenix and Lady Gaga wasn’t enough to win over fanboys or general audiences, who slammed it with an almost unheard of (for a comic book movie) D CinemaScore rating.
In his review for Joker: Folie à Deux, JoBlo’s Chris Bumbray stated, “As such, the audience who cosplayed Joker and Harley Quinn at the screening I attended couldn’t help but look a little dejected as the credits rolled. The film lacked the same kind of impact the original movie had despite a longer, bloated running time and a much heftier budget.”
